Ghost Fire

THIS IS SUBLIME. if there is any one singular alkemia scent you should try, it's this one. this is such a fascinating and ethereal scent. you'd think it would be linear based on only having one supposed note (white amber), but its blending and scent profile makes it feel like a transformative your-skin-but-better-scent. people kept saying this scent smells like an 'angel'. before i got it, i rationalized those comments thinking they were just exaggerating because cmon.. what can smell like an angel of all things? how can you even know what an angel smells like? but somehow they were absolutely right. the best way i would describe this scent is: a wispy vanilic perfume reminiscent of a cold night's breeze over a lake. it is so aptly named because it's so close and intimate to you, but breezy and whispery at the same time. it's on you yet all around you, so close yet so far, cold yet warm as it sits in pillowy crisp shushes on your skin. it's almost nostalgic, but 'new' smelling all in one. it really is a ghost fire. i 100% agree with the review right below me. it transforms and can seriously be worn under anything, WITH anything, with any season. the versatility is remarkable and incredibly unique. it's inoffensive but unique and 'close' all in one. i can't recommend this enough, and i literally just unboxed it 10 minutes ago as i write this review. i will update regarding it's performance and longevity.

It took me months (or close to a year) to finally get this fragrance. I think part of it was because it needed to macerate a bit longer, so I came back on trying it on every few months. Every time I was like "yeah, it's okay but.. not *that* good". Than, a couple of nights ago I tried it on for the first time in a while and I was speechless. This time I didn't get the usual smell (which I found was kinda oriental smelling but not in any special way); instead I got a warm and sweet, ethereal smell. (It's weird, as I still can feel that this is the exact same fragrance I smelled before - but at the same time my reaction to it was totally different). I went to bed and I kept smelling my wrist, I just couldn't get enough of it. It's so comforting and calming, and I finally get what other reviews meant by "ethereal". It feels like a warm hug from a divine creature (and not in a religious way). It's very hard to explain. I think this can be worn day and night and in any weather. But I think I'll keep using mostly at night as my comforting good night scent. If you have this and you are not convinced by it, just keep it aside and put on a reminder to try it again 6 months or more. You might be surprised!

This sample sat in the back of my perfume closet for about two years before I started seriously sampling it. To my nose it contains all of the facets that a white amber could have. It definitely has an aquatic aspect, a lightly sweet, fluffy aspect, it gets more musky and balsamic upon dry down but at no time does it become syrupy, or become animalic like a darker amber would. Suddenly I found myself obsessed! I had to order the ultime - I am in love with this stuff! It's fluffy, it's sweet, it's aquatic, it's musky. It really has this quality of "my skin but better," a category I have really grown to appreciate since COVID quarantining. When I wake up in the morning I can still smell it and it really is a sexy scent more than a comforting scent (partner agrees).

GF is a total people-pleaser perfume. As with other white ambers, it is a totally different animal from your usual "amber" seen in other perfumes. They're light, airy, cooling, and sugary-sweet, with a distinctly breezy quality that kind of tickles my nose. They're not exactly like vanilla, but they are is vanillic, sometimes veering a little into VS body spray territory, though I find that that depends on the scent context and house. Alkemia's white amber is the best I've smelled. Overall, GF plays nicely, giving us all of those lovely facets without smelling like cheap spray. It works excellently in the heat too, and layers beautifully with warm scents to lighten them.

On my skin, this has a light, sweet, ethereal scent. It reminds me of melted sugar but with a warm, light base that dries down to a sweet skin scent on me. Someone said it reminded them of unflavored rock candy and I agree! It also has an interesting quality that reminds me almost of gasoline in a way. Anyway, I love this scent for how easy to wear and happy it is. It's amber without being at all heavy or incense-y, it's a skin scent without animalic notes, a sweet scent that stays sweet without ever being cloying or turning to powder (a problem I have with many fragrances). On me, this isn't buttery or creamy. It's a harmonious, optimistic, but unobtrusive fragrance.

When I first smelled this it was instantly a double sniff. If this was a sexy woman I would be that man who walks straight into a wall completely mesmerized. I'm a straight woman, so that's saying something! No way is this JUST amber. Ultra feminine and wonderful. Smells effortlessly sexy. I agree that it smells "breezy". I also smell sunshine- can sunshine even be a note? Fresh yet slightly musky. Lasts 13 hours on my skin. Anyone who likes sweet amber must try this amazing juice! Update: Foxfire and Ghost Fire are siblings. I feel that Foxfire is sweeter and more floral and Ghost Fire is creamier and more sensual. Both dear to my heart. Both absolutely delicious.

I changed my mind!! I absolutely adore this perfume after not liking it for the first month of owning. It is very sweet and warm yet also skin-like, and on my skin this smells a bit coconutty. Very easy to wear and gets lots of compliments. I know this is a warm amber scent, but i think this is gonna be incredible during the summer due to the coconut note. Great longevity for the Ultime, and I am going to get the EDP of this asap. Really delicious and super unique, 9/10 fragrance at an excellent price point. delicious!

Alkemia has a lot of very affordable and great quality perfume oils, and oh boy are they versatile! Ghost Fire and Foxfire are great by themselves, but are absolutely amazing at giving new twists and facets to other perfumes. I am currently wearing Ghost Fire with Maria Candida Gentile's Sideris, and last weekend wore it with L'Agent by Agent Provocateur and got complimented. I wholeheartedly recommend this indie wonder, and sampling is very cheap as long as you're willing to risk paying some customs here in Europe :D

i am sooooo satisfied with my sample and need a full bottle right now!! the single note is very deceiving, i think this kinda smells like pineapple without the sourness. also powdery and incensey, kind of like a church in a way, but it still manages to smell tropical and sweet! im in LOVE!! goths would love this over the summer, it manages to be gothic and mysterious while still whimsical and tropical. as a goth girl who loves the summer i am 100% ordering a full bottle and using it as my signature summer scent!!!

I find Ghost Fire to be quite potent, which is great since it is an easy-to-love scent for just about everyone. The simplest description- amber, sugary notes, and vanilla- does not give this scent justice. GF is both warm and cool, and has a nearly "breezy" feeling to it. Honestly, it's just something you would need to experience in person. Amazingly ethereal! It feels like being swaddled in cashmere.

On me this is a sweet, sugary amber. Kind of reminds me of hard candy, or unflavored rock candy. It's a really pleasant, inoffensive scent that I choose pretty often for work. It is great for layering with other scents, especially woody fragrances.

This is a salty lake or ocean with a foggy mist over it. Reminded me of a 'Mists of Avalon' scene. Not what I would expect from an aquatic scent and that was surprising and makes it ethereal. Love scents that feel other worldly and unique.

I forgot about the samples I got two years ago and finally got to sample this one. This is a sweet, cozy, creamy (like coconut), slightly buttery amber. This is lovely as a stand-alone and would probably be useful in layering!

This was my SIGNATURE scent when i was super goth!! It smells just like a church but with a nice sweet undertone. It lasts pretty long and I think it is a great autumn scent.

this is my fucking baby, perfectly aquatic and coconutty without being syrupy.. actually ghost like. perfect, sheer coconut with some sort of “shiny” quality to it.

A very bright and uplifting scented amber. Like the smell of the warm sun on a cold day.

I must admit, I don't quite get what the others are talking about when they describe it as potent; maybe I'll use the fixative next time, and apply more. This is a lesson in not judging scent before putting it on skin. In the vial, it was so, so sugary, I almost wanted to gag. On my skin is where the magic begins. When I first put it on, it smelled almost sweet-buttery, and oddly familiar, like I'd smelt it somewhere before. Like something was being wrapped in crystalline sugar. As the scent began to settle, it was like layers of crystalline sugar were being peeled back to reveal transparent stone or something. White amber, I think it was called; it certainly fits the name. It's really beautifully delicate, neither warm nor cool, or maybe both. The sweetness is mild and just right. It appears bland at first sniff, but turns out to be feminine and unique. Someone above said it was sorrowful. Maybe? But to me it's more.. stoic than anything. Like a Samurai maiden clothed in white, benign but with a hidden backbone of steel, silent but not a wallflower, and sort of distant, but not purposefully so. You never really know her, but what you know of her, you like. Kind of like.. Kanna from Inuyasha, or your typical kuudere. I just find it easier to describe it in terms of personality. Now, I catch whiffs of it every now and then, yet if I sniff my wrist for more than 4 seconds, I can't smell anything. Truly, 'ghost fire' is the right name for it. I'm still not sure if it'll be FBW for me. I'll come and edit this when I've made up my mind.

Okay... this is not a bad scent, but I am so disappointed in it. I am Nemat Amber’s number one fan and I was hoping for something relatively similar in Ghost Fire... instead, I get a scent reminiscent of Tiki Beach from B&BW, but Tiki Beach is better. It leans very salty, wet, cool, and pretty coconutty. Not really a creamy coconut accord either like you find in something like Milky Musk or Philosykos, it’s more like tropical coconut water. It should probably be named Ghost on Holiday. I unfortunately will not be purchasing a FB. 5/10

This one is a shapeshifter-one minute it's coconutty, then vanilla, tobacco, slightly aquatic, ambery, musky....it's beautiful and sweet without being a standard vanilla. I'd day it's more white amber than golden amber, but it feels deeper and warmer than white amber alone (which always smells cooler and sharperto me), so perhaps it's a blend?

I agree with HeidiLynn--yes, it does smell aquatic to me too! Aquatic with some sort of sugary butter mixed in. Not bad, but it's not what I was expecting! Edit: My husband just gave me a hug and said I smell like coconut. So that's another thing that seems to be in the mix, and I can see where he's coming from.

Ghost Fire makes me think of a gooey pile of wet sugar. It's extremely sweet and simple on me: sugar and white amber, a hint of vanilla. This isn't a knock at all; it's a nice whimsical fragrance that I just wouldn't want wear to the office. The longevity is impressive.

This has a slightly sweet, salty beach smell. It's got a subtle throw, but I catch whiffs of it and it lasts all day. It's comforting and inoffensive, it smells like a tropical VS body spray but less cheap. I like it a lot, but I'm not sure if I would get a FS.

It really is buttery yet aquatic, sweet, light and airy. It's not like anything else I've smelled! I like it.

An intriguing, warm, cocooning amber. Rich, comforting, and a little bit salty. It has a unique quality that separates itself from the average sweet amber fragrance. Despite how warm it is, it still remains airy and light enough for my taste. It does become one-note after drying down for a while, and I wish it lasted a bit longer on my skin. This is still a beautiful choice from Alkemia.

I agree with the reviewer below who brought up charred marshmallow. That's probably the closest thing to describe it for me. I agree with "puffy" as well. And I would add that it's kind of waxy. Overall this is a just a bit too thin for me, I am not a skin scent kind of person. HOWEVER, I gave this to my sister and she likes it a lot.

I did not like this at first...but it has grown on me...a lot. I'm not an salty/aquatic fan, so I think that first put me off. But it just smells so darned good. It's clean, cozy, warm, fresh, beachy all in one. I do smell coconut, salt, aquatic and creamy notes. I had someone hug me and they told me how good I smelled! Good perfume!

A nice soft layering scent. A little powdery but mainly leans sweet. A little sugary and works well under woody scents.

OK, this one is just plain odd to me. At first whiff, it smelled like the grilled pineapple you get at Brazilian steakhouses. There's a hint of charred marshmallow there too. Then, there's this aquatic note that chimes in. Overall, it's too sweet, too aquatic and not enough amber for me. Could be a nice beachy scent for the right person.

I don't know if I got a bad one or if it's my skin chemistry, but this has almost no smell at all on me or in the bottle. Like a very bare hint of a cool, sweet dewy melon. Not unpleasant or anything, it just doesn't seem like you put anything on.

i am actually so shocked by all the positive reviews! i'm not sure what i'm missing hahaha. i've given this one like a year to macerate and it's still like... viscerally repulsive to me. something about this fragrance actually gives me those shivers of disgust. i get plastic, playdough, and BO, with a sharp metallic top note. it's straight up horrid

Horrified and embarrassed I almost didn't pick this up when I last put in an Alkemia order because this is a total banger. The ultime lasts a solid 6 hours which is incredible for an oil and even with it being a skin scent you'll still get wafts of it throughout the day. It's beyond simple, it's just a white amber, but that simplicity makes it so versatile: it's not complex enough to bother anyone that's sensitive to smells or feel out of place in a casual setting (in an over-sized shirt playing D&D with my brother), but it's also refined enough to wear to more formal occasions (lunch with my boss's boss). Sweet, musky, and with an undercurrent of salt that prevents it from being syrupy.

This was unexpectedly aquatic to my nose, an ethereal water-lily scent that also had me double sniffing as I swore I caught a vaguely pineapple ish note! I smelled a faint white smokiness, like woodsmoke from far away through damp, foggy air. There was a strange, haunted quality to this scent for me-- almost sorrowful. Much later, I thought I smelled a crisp, white fleshed Asian pear. So I dunno what's wrong with my nose but this is not what I expected. I expected a labdanum-style Amber, stony and incesey. I think I will let this rest a bit more as it was interesting and long lasting; I could still catch whiffs of it after 10 hours.

Ghost fire is what I wish Luminae was (the artwork on Luminae is so gorgeous and I wanted the excuse to FB it but didn't like it as much as I like this). This is the kind of 'your skin but better'/'clean girl' perfume I can actually enjoy. It is aldehydic like 'Not a perfume' by Jhag or 'Xtra Milk' by Dedcool but in a creamy, sweet way. I kinda get what people mean by coconut. I can't smell it but it has the grit and creaminess of canned coconut cream. This is lovely before bed and I bet this is gorgeous layered. It snells neautral in a way to me that I feel like this would layer with almost anything to give it an unusual twist.

I love amber scents. This one was awful. I got this and the Miel as a birthday gift. I tried letting them sit for months to see if the scent improved. It did not. Ghost Fire smells like sour milk. Not a fan. Will not be buying anymore from the shop.

This perfume is pretty and soft. It reminds me a lot of Bath & Body Work's Brown Sugar & Fig. I applied this at least twice before I realized this is what I smelled! I knew if reminded me of something....It is a nice, feminine scent.

Aquatic musk. Not sure where any amber is. Definitely a watery blend that dries more dusty than I care for, but it does last all day long. Not my thing, really.

smells like a fresh wet coconut and mist over a lake. it’s really nice but it fades on my skin within an hour. definitely summery in my opinion

Mild sweetnes , wafting around you Amber vanilla , easy to wear . But does not last that long or leave a big impretion . Nice inoffencive treat

This is absolutely beautiful. Ethereal. Hard to describe other than fairy sex.
