Kapnobatai

Opening the bottle I get the unmistakable skunk of a juicy cannabis flower. This strong greenness is supported by the pine, galbanum and basil. Just because there is incense here I wouldn’t call it an Amber and it’s certainly not a floral. I would categorize this as a Woody Aromatic scent. Sillage was intimate and longevity was weak to moderate. If you love the smell of fresh (not burnt) cannabis flower and want to smell like the most sensual and luxurious stoner alive, this is a great option.

I'm the first review?? Oh boy howdy... I better not screw this up. Alkemia vs. Katie: 3-3. Dost thou wish to leave a scent trail of mary-joo-wanna?? Because lawd almighty, thou willst REEK of herb. Look, I've sampled several fragrances in the past few months that made me *think* I liked cannabis as a scent in perfume. These included Nasomatto's Black Afgano, Narcotica's Bright Black, Mugler's Fly Away, MMM's Music Festival, etc. Heck, I even like Alkemia's Hippie Spirit. This should be right up my alley, yeah? WRONG. I only dabbed a tiny bit on my the back of my hand, and even tried to lightly add some Music Festival on top to tame it down. No--Kapnobatai takes no prisoners. It will not be tamed, it will not be layered, it will shine like the bold unapologetic green flower that it is. The sillage is big (~6 feet), and I suspect longevity would be stunning, considering it took 3 scrubs of Lava Soap to get this off of me. But I have met my match with Kapnobatai, and I have lost. I can't do it, and I can't bring myself to hit the "hate" button, lest I tank this fragrance's rating. Alkemia, you win again in the realism department. You promised herb, and in the words of Kevin Hart, I wasn't ready. You brought some skunky funky realness to the table, and I was not prepared. That's not on you, that's my fault. I'm not sure how to repurpose this sample vial, and I'm terrified to send it in the mail, lest a drug dog pounce upon it immediately. xP

Have you ever been physically close with someone whose perspiration, after eating edibles, actually smelled of ganja? On a sexy lover, that is a fantastic smell, and this perfume reminds me of that phenomenon. Amazing. Really good stuff. None of the ‘Yankee Candle’ Alkemia house blend fragrance oil smell here. No fake cedar/synth incense/iso e either. This is ‘special reserve’ and it shows. Stinky, green, woody, resinous. Prominent galbanum and oud. Yes it smells like weed but mostly in the top, and it’s just part of the brilliant, green, exotic, resinous blend. Here is the note list, lifted from the Alkemia website: Fresh green cannabis flower accord blended with a trascendence of royal grade Green Hojari frankincense, citrusy Boswellia Papyrifera frankincense, aged oud wood, galbanum, Afghan pine resin, sacred white copal, green basil tops, kusum, nicotania, green tabac leaf, styrax balsam, and bakhoor incense. I’m in goth stoner heaven with this one. Perfectly unisex, would probably be great any time of year but I look forward to trying it in HEAT. n.b. I wore Black Afgano back in like 2013, and this reminds me of it, but Kapnobatai is more complex, darker, smoother, edgier, and less sythny. Greener opening and sweeter balsamic drydown.
