Madam Pearl

im so happy that i blind bought a fs of madam pearl, it’s understandable why this is an IMAM beloved. i am also subsequently sad that it’s discontinued. smells kinda like sadzi to me, it has some sort of citrus underbelly that contributes to it’s “bright” smell. but it’s more complex than sadzi, there’s another note(s) that grounds it beautifully, im assuming its the paper, bone china and tea leaves. i can’t really pick out the tea notes in alkemia blends because they’re well blended and they aren’t completely photorealistic but it really contributes to a sophisticated and lovely scent. i can also pick out a white pepper scent and it’s so nice, it doesnt stand out harshly and instead contributes to the harmony of the whole blend. im conflicted i think it’s a new HG scent for me but it was JUST discontinued, my heart longs for more.

I purchased 6 samplers from Alkemia (others- Midnight Garden, Madam X, Love is Nearer Death, Cyanide, Gothique) and this is the only one that stood out to me. Has a tea scent and is a bit powdery. Very strong but not sure of sillage or projection. More of a skin scent I believe. Lasted a good 4 hours until I showered. Could possibly have lasted longer had I not showered. Not so perfumery smelling for my tastes, but I would walk around the house with this. I think it smells of goodness. Husband says it smells "open" and "comforting".

A beautiful, clean scent, by turns soft and sophisticated with unmistakable tea notes sitting front and centre. It reminds me of Bulgari’s Green Tea, and the 1990’s: a bit CK One and Tommy Girl. This pretty scent sits close to the skin with a modest but not negligible sillage; in my hair it heightens the smell of my shampoo. All in all, lovely. And ideal for anyone who loves tea notes.

I’m not exaggerating when I say that Madam Pearl is the only tea scent I like. Tea notes tend to nauseate me with Uber-freshness but this one doesn’t. Well blended and easy to wear.

I put off trying this bonus sample for a long time because I "don't like tea notes" - now here I am, older and wiser, and Madam Pearl is no longer available on the website! I'm so sad, I really like it. The tea in Madam Pearl isn't too sharp or green. I think the paper and vanilla help tamp it down a little; I don't smell paper specifically, but there's a dry, musky sort of smell that I think must be part of it. I'm not sure about "powdery" but I agree it is clean. Not as atmospheric as some Alkemia scents. Just a really nice tea.

I order a sample pack from Alkemia and this was included. I don't get much of a tea note from this. More of a peppery vanilla and something that smells more like patchouli. Well made but not full bottle worthy for me.

Looks like I'm the #first to say this smells exactly like a Lush store and I'm not mad!

Green tea with zip. Pleasing, more perfume than gourmand scent.

I find this smells like plastic, old paper and tea with a hint of sweetness. Kinda grannyish.

This was gorgeous. I can see why this one is one of the most popular perfumes from Alkemia. This is pepper, soap, and a mellow vanilla. At first I got a therapeutic blast of white pepper, followed by a soapy scent, probably the paper note, that weaves in and out. The vanilla was ever present like a soft blanket and for me at least I appreciate that the pepper note stayed throughout and I wasn't left with any basic vanilla. I don't know what white tea smells like, but to me there wasn't a distinct tea scent-but it probably just contributed to the whole slightly antique effect of this perfume. This scent reminds me of being a young girl and going to a single, middle aged auntie's house who was mentally still very girlish, fun, and clever with a spark in her eyes and she would make some tea and you would pour over books together and share fun stories. I guess it's the pepper, soap and paper note that give off that bright, virginal, youthful effect upon the old-fashioned, warm vanilla medley on the bottom-which is why I thought of a youthful and intellectual older woman. Not gonna lie, if this perfume were an object, it would be a doily; the white pepper, paper and vanilla combined have this delicate crocheted lace effect, so if you wish to avoid any semblance with popular items of the past, I'm giving you a heads up. Never the less I absolutely love this perfume, it's completely well done and to add onto it, I definitely sense a "bone china" vibe from the soapy paper note doubling as a piece of freshly washed porcelain.

This is bright, bold, but not bold as in "bold" it is bold in the sense of interesting you in its personality. The scent smells like that weird girl in high school, she always has something weird to say. She doesn't have many friends but she dose have a few followers. You want to know more about her, but you don't want to ask. So you follow her around, wishing you could ask her who she is and what she is like. But you cannot because you are simply to worried about how "bold" she is and how it may effect you.

Madam Pearl was sent to me as a sample with a purchase I made for two other Alkemia scents. Oddly enough, I like this more than what I actually ordered. MP is lightly sweet and very creamy with a smokey facet that I believe is from the tea. There is a subtle citrus nuance to round it all out. It doesn't smell like paper to me... If Madam Pearl resembles anything, it smells like an expensive face cream from a department store cosmetic counter.

A slightly powdery, soft vanilla with crisp and faintly citrus white tea. Quite pleasant. Love this perfumer.
