Roll in the Hay

If I could bathe in this stuff I would. This might be the single most comforting scent I have ever laid my nose on in my life. It feels sunny, warm, yet better suited to warm weather than cool. My biggest gripe is that the most magical part about it, the "hay" note with honey, only lasts minutes in the opening before disappearing. The projection and longevity are poor, too. If this actually performed then it would be a summer staple for me.

I bought a sample of Roll in the Hay in the hopes that it would have that same sweet hay note as the Zoologist Rabbit perfume. In the bottle, it smells like freshly cut grass. Wet and pungently green. Not what I was expecting. On my skin, it's much more pleasant. It mellows out into the exact sweet hay I was looking for! 12 hours later and it's holding strong. Definitely worth buying a full size.

This smells so lovely and comforting. It's all hay, vanilla, and honey on me so I immediately feel like I'm back on my grandparents farm, climbing hay bales in the summer. I wear it in my hair and it lasts a long time there! I don't really get any poppy or green grass, but I'm happy with how this works on me.

this is soooo yummy to me. clean, summery, and a little grassy in a fresh way. it has a little sweetness from the vanilla grass and honey on my skin. this is what i wish hay bales smelled like

Love this one, but I feel like the green notes disappear pretty early on. I love layering it with Alkemia's Vert Sur la Vert to combat that and keep it fresh and green.

I spent some winter months working on a small organic dairy farm in Japan. Get up at 7, milk cows, watch Japanese TV and do odd jobs before milking again at 4:30. One job was to feed the cows. The hay they ate came rolled into giant bales like enormous hay jellyroll sections four feet tall and a dozen layers deep. The outside layers would be muddy and frozen. The inside layers would have started to slowly compost themselves, generating heat. So an amazing thing would happen as you unrolled further into a new roll. Suddenly in the frozen barn, from the absence of any smell, a ghost smell of summer hay comes out from within the warm bale. All around ice but close your eyes and right before you is the warm summer wind and sweet, sweet hay. Right before you in December...cicadas and freckles...daisies and sunshine and cool dark shadows. Roll in the Hay recalls this scent memory. Roll in the Hay is my favorite Alkemia out of the 30+ I've tried. It's delightful throughout its development. The top is a minty sweet fresh hay, the middle is more hay, and the base is a warm vanilla honey. I don't get 'poppy' or 'green grass' but it's very naturalistic and pleasant. More dreamy and romantic than overtly sexual, this suits daytime late-summer early-fall wears. The honey is not outright animalic but is suggestive, making the fragrance and name combo an especially brilliant double entendre.

This lasts a very long time on me. It's very sweet, essentially honeyed, and I wish it were a little greener. But still very nice and I pair it with their single note leather

Do you want to smell like rich, yummy, golden photorealistic honey? So real you’ll dream of biscuits and butter? Want to fill a room with honey and have it last all day? If so, A Roll In The Hay is for you. With my nose and on my skin, I didn’t pick up any other notes. So, if ***HONEY*** is your thing, this is a great buy. I smelled wafts of honey from morning until bed, even after an hour swim and a shower. I like honey, a lot even, but I don’t want to smell like it all day so not for me.

Straight up fancy Play-Doh. I tried it a few different times and my skin just made it scream Play Doh. Can't pick up much Hay or Grass. Must be the Vanilla and Honey.

Open is green but dry down is honey and beeswax. I consider this is a great find as a replacement for Requiem for the Immortal by Scent by Alexis (Alexis Karl), which I haven’t been able to find in a long time. I welcome Alkemia’s green and hay vision here. Exciting and fresh, but has the historic house smells I always go wild for.

This one is very yummy. Smells like the ideal summer day of a childhood spent in the country. Maybe even in a past life. Sweet hay and tree blossoms heavy with pollen and green grass everywhere. A very calming 'weekend in the country' fragrance.

super super mild, lasted for maybe half an hour on my skin with a pretty good amount applied. Like vanilla with a tinge of greenery. I like it to fall asleep with since it's such a gentle scent, but I won't be full sizing it.

Grass, hay notes and vanilla. Mild, pretty. This one is an easy wear. Very pleasant. Might be a great one for those days when you can't decide what you want to smell like. Nice!

-Opens as an overly green scent. Like fresh grass. -Dries down to a delicious hay scent that's slightly herbal and soapy. (-)

Heavy on the honey, not enough hay for me. The green is sweet though, not bitter
