Musk Al Ghazal

Sadly it is already discontinued. The first time I tried it (smelled it directly from the flask) I thought: "wtf is this?", because the smell was too fecal. I put the flask in my wooden box with attars and forgot about it. It was some years ago and it was quite a windy day. I decided to give it a try and...well...I was stunned. There was this leathery-musky slightly fecally, slightly flowery smell like a veil around me. I liked it a lot. So this is a quiet, non complex attar with moderate longevity, suitable for layering and yes it does not smell like a 100€ Qurashi, but considering the price (2-3€ for 6ml) you pay for Al-Rehab's oils it is a bargain and I do not understand all this hate. And yes imagine what would this fecal attar be, but with a stronger concentration like i.e. "Dakar"? It would be unw[b]earable. By the way the strongest parfum I have, that also beats even "Sehr Al Kalemat" and "Attar Al Ghutra" is Al-Rehab's "Arooq Al Oud". "Musk Al-Ghazal" - love it or hate it, but do not pretend that the price you pay for the diluted, constantly reformulated western perfumes is always justified.

Thanks to repeated mentionings in the "whiffy" thread and elsewhere I decided to give this a go. Well, this is quite a phenomenon...First impression when sniffing the rollerball bottle and cap was slight undefinable fecal inky but from a little further, sweetish smell. So I put it on my wrist and roll a little, then rub into the other wrist... Deep breath in... Oh dear all of a sudden the clock has moved forward a few days and I don't seem to have washed, but spent time outdoors in humid conditions with loads of rolling tobacco in my pockets, oh and I am wearing some old tight leather trousers. Before you think this is it and I am going to slag this attar off... not at all. There is definitely a tobacco vibe about this fragrance, especially in the opening and middle phase whereas in the end all I can detect is an animalic musk that as someone said reminds of the beautiful air behind my cat's ear. I think the key is to use this really sparingly but spreading all over thinly. I will probably use it for layering. Yes it is a dirty fragrance but a little dirty is nice. This is not cumin dirty, this is more like bike saddle dirty and it brings that tobacco leaves / flowers notes with it. I have an attar called "White Musk" by Swiss Arabian and that is like a superfresh and clean version of this one here, yet they both share what I can only describe as a tobacco note.Tonight I have layered it over Habanita EDT...hmmmm skankfest. Should try with Boudoir next...

This is for the 6ml oil Like I suspected this isn't as nasty as the hype. Granted it's unusual and animolic but I have to stick my face in my arm to register it. I can't see myself going around smelling this dirty even if it is a skin scent but it's great for layering. I did some tests and if you layer this under other scents you can make them more interesting or change them completely. Results may vary and sometimes the test turns toxic or nothing happens at all. So I think people should get creative and don't be afraid to fail. Musk Al Ghazal can be stinky but also could be a god send to the artsy types or niche lovers. Try it before you knock it. Al Rehab scents are inexpensive and many are completely alterable. Save your purism for your favorite big $ perfume.

This is for the 6ml oil Of the 12 Al Rehab oils I ordered this is the only one that didn't leak into the cap... THANK GOD! I had ordered 12 of the ones I really wanted before and this lot consisted of afterthoughts. I didn't want this one at first because of the horrible reviews but I sez to myself I sez I like animolics so try it!! I think I'm going to like it but I doubt anyone I know will! I haven't the guts to try this now because I'm already wearing one of my favorite hard-to-find vintages. I think I've found the most animolic fragrance in the universe! I can only just smell a hint of Musk Al Ghazal through the sealed roller ball but I can tell this is going to be interesting! Look up "Ghazal" in Wikipedia. It's a beautiful concept!

So this is black musk. Or at least the synthesized version. Well, I like it. I honestly don't find it to be all that filthy. It sort of reminds me of clay, honestly. Maybe that's why people say Narcisco Rodriguez Musk (male version) smells like wet pavement? Possibly it's a black musk? It's not my favorite kind of musk, but I find it has an appealing mineral/gritty quality. I personally don't smell poo pants but I'll probably avoid wearing it out and about as most everyone else seems to.

this is the dirtiest thing ever, but not in a sexy animalic way - more so in an uncomfortable, foul feces kina way. I put the teeniest bit on and waited a full hour before scrubbing it. The smell made me feel like I haven't washed my butt in days. It literally smells like sweet feces. No thank you. I have plenty of al rehabs, and most are nice. I guess they were trying to emulate the smell of real deer behinds. If so, they succeeded.

UPDATE After some revision and refinement in my sense of smell, and giving this another try, this is actually pretty good. I like animalics now. Somehow i don't associate this with poop anymore, more with a warm, fuzzy animal. It's nice.

I read the reviews, took a chance and it didnt pay off. Starts off with a waft of plastic, then moves to Arabian amber and a hint of civet musk. Unfortunately it then descended into a 'get this off me' stank bad breath and BO, with a hint of feces.

Oh my god, those who have said that this *sort of* smells like bad breath right off the bat, well, sorry...but they're right. The opening is very...toothy. It kind of smells like a rotting tooth. Then it morphs into this hair oil thing, like a bryllcreem thing, the picture in my head is of some weird prototype of a 1950's hood combing his hair while leaning against some cheesy winged car. This is certainly masculine. I'm not sure it's for me. I love musk, but I'm wondering if amber and honey is more my vibe, and if Keihls is as animalic musk as I'm meant to be....interesting, because I really thought I would be craving this, something truly animalic, so now I need to just pony up and order the MKK and Salome, because I think I need my musks blended with a few other notes. So far I've layered this with Vivienne Westwood Boudoir and that tempers the rotten tooth vibe, but no....this is not for me.

This is a review from a Arabian oil collector, I know a fair few people new to oils will have bought this because it was featured in a recent article. It's not that good and I'm not surprised, for some reason when a mass-produced oil is brown it can be poor. This oil is sticky as well. If you have only ever tried western perfumes or al Rehab* then you might think this has a large Sillage but for an eastern oil, no, this is poor. It's a average dirty musk, great for adding bite when layering and priced at a few pounds it's certainly worth a try if you are trying to improve your scope. *Al Rehab is average for a middle eastern company, I'm not saying they are bad and they are still better than a lot of western perfume houses, but not as good as someone like al haramain.

I do not really comprant gents! it is made ca the real smell of natural musk is dirty and wants to have animal ... or not it is the nature ......... WHEN IT IS PURE; musk were used mostly in medicine;;; ilm way to be all simplemen has light with sandalwood, rose or jasmine, the ONT GET SOMETHING GOOD

I'm with the previous reviewer, this is far from being the beast it's made out to be. Just generic musks and lots of maltol in my opinion. What would people do if they smelled undiluted Tonquitone or Shangralide? Run for cover I would imagine. Still, at least it was cheap.

Oooh, heavy stuff! It starts bold, musky, animalic, almost faecal, for about half an hour, then it smoothes down to a soft, comfortable, soft soothing musk, it smells like the back of my baby Shahrazad's ears(my beloved cat!). This is only for the true musk aficionados!

Smells like bad breath, specifically the breath of one of my teachers from when I was little. It reminds me of her. Therefore, it's very nostalgic. But I wouldn't want to smell like my teacher's bad breath. This one is going directly in the bin.

Does this remind people to Tabu? I bought a black musk oil, not this one, hoping I would get a dirty animalic stuff, and it smells like Tabu. I'm wondering if I'm anosmic and all I smell is some sweet stuff in both these scents...

No faeces, no animal. Just plastic or something on me!! Glad it was only cheap!! I'm not a total snob snout fragrance but some days you really do get what you pay for. Sadly this is exactly that for me.

On me this oil blasts industrial strength detergent laundry musk. I'm looking for something softer but not cloyingly sweet. Hmmm. . . .

THIS musk IS NOT FOR EVERY MAN,ITS is for mature people and should be used in little quantity,its normal,i cant understand this scent.
