FRESHER THAN A LEMON ICE CREAM [short review] This perfume isn't free, but it's still very inexpensive. "Alvarez Gomez Agua de Colonia Concentrada" opens with a marvellous, spicy, intense and vibrant lemony note. This citrus accord smells like a hand-picked bio lemon sold at an expensive market stall in any given Spanish town, where local master chefs are loyal customers for the sheer quality of lemon peel and oil. This highly concentrated citrusy scent is quickly topped up with a strong dose of exquisite lavender. The same master chefs are then solicited to add herbs and spices. They probably employ bouquets of rosemary, thyme, cloves and aniseed seeds. Throughout the entire evolution, the highly aromatic scent of the lemon oil remains bright and clear. The fragrance has been sold throughout Spain for more than 100 years now. It is presented as an EDC, but in reality, it has an EDT concentration. The performance isn't famous, but a 400 ml or an 800 ml splash bottle, will be quite enough for you to shower with it several times a day during a hot day, and for a long time! My opinion: Don't trust this fragrance to be a seductive and cuddly fresh scent. In reality, it turns out to be a scent energizer, a true lemony fragrant Red Bull that may grow an addiction among its users. Music: Monty Python - "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life"

Paradise with citrons... I have tested it in German Pharmacy today in Merz Apothecary in Chicago and its really nice. Yes yes... you won't see lemons from Capri... straight to Carthusia... but it's a nice summer water. I use it in the winter too... blends well in Mexico and in really warm weather. Perfect for the summer in the big city full of dust and humidity. One of my fav colonial water. I feel the little medicine scent in it but with this type of lemons.. I see it kinda attractive. Believe me I had in my hands bottles for $1200 for 100 ml and I still appriciate it. Just because it cheaper doesn't mean is bad. Just because you don't see it in magazines doesn't mean is worse than others. I really respect this scent. Besides design of the bottle is really cute as well. I like this look of old fashioned scents. You won't find anything like this bottle form any house around. And I consider it as a plus. If you ask me if it's similar to 4711- classic. No. Its has similarity but this one is more unisex- while 4711 is more masculine. Besides this one is more zesty lemons/ zitrons

Fresh, zesty and refreshing scent from a traditional well established perfumery in central Madrid, Spain. The scent has lemon, rose and geranium notes. My grandfather used it on a daily basis for years so it brings wonderful memories; we would visit him in the morning running into his apartment looking for him; he would nearly always be having a shave sat next to a massive square white porcelain basin checking every inch of his face for the perfect trim... This scent is a classic if you were born in the 60`s as on those days there were not very many perfumes/scents in Spain; French scents from Paris were the only ones available...maybe General Franco had something to do with it...Paco Rabanne emigrated to Paris on those days... Huge perfume line in general...shower gel, body lotion, bath salts, hair conditioner, soaps...etc and very well priced with decent longevity Give it a go if you fancy a sniff of the Spanish civil war...1936-1939... Big thumbs up...!!!

This is the definition of fresh, clean and energizing. Its a blast of aromatherapy with real natural oils of lemon and bergamot. Its not sugary or synthetic. Real fresh scents dont last and have to be reapplied. They are ment to give you a very uplifting punch for an hour and fade to very beautiful skin scent. Long lasting freshies do not exist. Even though jeremy fragrance wants them to. Anything fresh and long lasting is pure chemical. This house was founded in 1899 in Madrid Spain, and this scent was created in 1912. They've never had big marketing and have just a loyal fanbase. This is a timeless classic at a stupidly affordable price, the only downside being that you have to reapply if you actually want to project. It smells better than Aqua di Parma and has a higher percentage of natural ingredients. People are going broke buying fragrances meanwhile this fragrance is cheap, fresh, clean, timeless, natural...

Tal cual, un caramelo de limón y eucalipto, pero de los antiguos. O sea, como más artesanal pero con mucho limón, afortunadamente. No sienta como esnifar Vic's Vaporub. La bergamota es FLIPANTE aquí. El geranio da contexto pero no invade. El romero y la lavanda se dan la mano. A mí esto me huele también a malvavisco a veces. Es un limón dulce y abizcochado a medida que se seca. Al rato predominan las hierbas y se nota el tomillo, yo creo que hay algo de salvia también por aquí. Huele exactamente a orégano brujo llegados a este punto. Me gusta mucho, yo creo que es la que más me gusta de las tres. Compraría el formato grande, pero desde luego te digo que no dura un c*raho. Es pa llevar el formato pequeño encima siempre. Por el precio no me quejo, la verdad.

I have to say and recognize that I really love this cologne. I find delicious and brings me great memories of childhood. I always had the feeling that it is thanks to those childhood memories, I'm so fond of fragrances and this is the typical odor memory, which sometimes "I bathed", heh, heh, after leaving the bathtub. :) Notes that compose it are citrus, especially lemon and floral with geranium and rosemary. Maybe a little lavender, almost imperceptible to my nose. Nothing more. Fresh, simple and economic sooo well done. Longevity is moderate, exceeding 5-6 hours with gentle but noticeable sillage. Above the average, even for this style of fragrance. Little more to say, I love it. I admit, I'm addicted to this kind of fragrances.

I am Spanish and this has always been on the shelf in my family's bathroom. It is the perfect splash, great for the day, fresh and clean. As said in previous reviews citrus is the first note but the geranium (or clove)and bergamot will last all day. It is popular in Spain, but not massive and when I splash it on in the mornings after showering everyone tells me how nice I smell and asks what I am wearing. I dont use it at night unless its 40o (not unnusual in July or August)since I prefer something a bit more sensual or sweet (with vanilla, jasmine or ginger) but it is very comforting and in especially cold mornings it warms me up and brings memories of summer.

Somewhat boring on a strip ‒ smells like lemon candy, not lemon. There may be an indiscernably small amount of lavender or some other herbs, but not enough to make the scent likable. On the skin though, it's a different animal altogether. Very enticing, clean and complex, and yes, I'm getting cloves here too. I wouldn't exactly say a big dose, but just enough to give the fragrance a spicy / earthy base that fits very well with the rest of the composition and makes the scent more interesting. There's something sweet as well ‒ not sure what, but it might be cinnamon as someone's mentioned. And a tiny bit of anise. Beautifully put together and perfectly balanced.

Bright lemony citrus opening with a strong backbone of lavender and herbs, perfect for a hot dusty Spanish summer. Can't believe I haven't reviewed this already, it's one of the very first frags I bought based on MrSmelly1977's YouTube videos. Already went through my first 80ml spray bottle and now bought a massive splash bottle I'll be decanting. Perfect dumb reach all weather frag but with depth and complexity. Some might say it smells like household cleaning product, but I don't care...it's just so satisfying. That's probablhy the result of this being such a classic clean DNA that others have copied this scent profile. Scent: 8 / Sillage: 7 / Longevity: 7

If this scent was bottled under a different brand, people would pay 250 euros for it. This is a great, effervescent citrus cologne, perfectly unisex, with a sugary touch and a bit of aromatic dryness to balance it. The body cream with shea butter from this line is a great base for this cologne, as well as other scents, I apply it under most of the Hermes and Sisley scents I own, it also works well with most of the sweet Montale/Mancera frags (Instant Crush, Sensual Instinct, Purple Flowers etc).

Lovely fresh lemon scent (I can see how some people feel it smells like lemon cleaning products as there’s no complexity to it). Pure lemon scent, with some “sugary-ness” to it, and the slightest spice from the herbs which become stronger as it dries down. I’ve found this is a good, non offensive, smell to wear to work that you can respray throughout the day without overwhelming the people around you

In the summer I look for light eau de Cologne, this year in the first days of June I bought via eBay from Spain a 750 ml bottle of Alvarez Gomez Aqua concentrada a nice big and heavy bottle of EDC. , light duration and very volatile sillage but the bitter lemon and rosemary are felt very distinctly, I would say sparkling. For everyday use it is perfect. A true master piece of Cologne. I love it!

This is amazing! As a lover of classic fragrances ranging from 4711 to Drakkar Noir, this is absolutely something I gravitate towards. It smells amazing, very heavy on the lemon and clove, but I have not met a single person that disliked it on me. Just decant it, and get like, 30 sprays on yourself, then it DOES last for a solid 3 hours. Its cheaper $/ml than getting yourself an espresso.

Alvarez Goméz Agua de Colonia Concentrada is my go-to eau de cologne in the hot Spanish summers. It's fresh, clean and it has a delicious lemon scent. Now that I am a woman of certain age, this product also encapsulates my childhood in a bottle, as I have vivid memories of my mother spraying us with Alvarez Gomez before going to school, church, the park or visiting relatives.

This is a nuclear explosion of citrus and herbal aromas done right --- nothing more to add your honor. Wait no more, run and buy this gem and bath yourself in it on any given warm/calid/hot summer day. Longevity is stellar for a cologne, even if "concentrated" --- all this for just 12€ for 150ml feels like I'm ripping alvarez gomez off

2nd wearing, smells just like Florida water, which I like. Sweet, lemony-spicy, with plenty of cloves and cinnamon on top of the citruses. Rather reminiscent of cola. Sadly it also lasts about as long as Florida water, despite being a "concentrated" EdC, though in Central Europe you can get it at 17.5€ per 300ml.

really nice, aromatic, slightly bit sharp and sweet lemon, almost like a lemon candy in a way, I've lived in Valencia in Spain and it does remind me a bit of the orange trees in there, performance is just okay but then again this is a cologne, perfect for most occasions in summer and office friendly

Lovely fresh lemon and geranium (which comes across as spicy), without the musky base of some other colognes. It is quite herbal and natural, simple and refreshing. As you would expect, it is not very long lasting, but it is cheap enough to use in repeated (and repeated) applications.

I ADORE this wonderful lemon cologne. I don’t find it overly sweet, to me it’s a perfectly ripe lemon, squashed with rosemary & lavender & drunk straight! It’s a cologne so needs frequent top ups but it’s affordable & available on Amazon!

Alvarez Gomez's Agua de Colonia Concentrada is hands down the best pound for pound (penny for penny, in this case) eau de cologne. The hotter the weather the more likely you'll appreciate the fragrance! 9/10

Changed from Acqua di Parma to Agua de Colonia, very nice smell, a bit short lasting but I prefer being stealthy. The bottle looks very vintage as well, indeed reminiscent of the Spanish Civil War.

This is a bright Lemon scent - soooo good and refreshing! Doesn't last long - yet if you like a true "real" lemon scent and don't mind re-spritzing, this one is a gem!

Beautifully refreshing, always present in my bathroom. Like Ticktock says below, there's a big dose of clove in spite of it not being listed as a note.

I keep a bottle in the refrigerator and splash on some refreshing coldness to fight the heat and humidity of Summer.

Agua de Colonia Concentrada is a lemon/bergamot edc with a herbal background. The herbal, medicinal, camphorous background is primarily lavender but I also get something fresh and cool like eucalyptus. I don't know if I can confidently say what thyme or geranium smell like but there's more to this than just citrus and lavender. It does bring to mind some kind of lemon herbal candy but not too sweet. Bottle has a simple old world style; sprayer puts out a nice blast of juice. Longevity, sillage and projection are below average on this one but since it's an eau de cologne it doesn't bother me too much. This is light post shave/shower scent. Two sprays to the chest last me about six hours. Unisex; good for all ages; better in warmer or hot weather; suitable for any occasion; nice price. I've had lots of luck layering this with a basic ambroxan molecule from ebay. Great, summery blind buy!

I purchased the 80ml spray bottle. It was mailed out in peanuts and bubble wrap, the box showed no damage yet the bottle leaked? I received 80% of the product and the other 20% made for the most beautiful smelling package I've ever received! Oh well, it's a low cost item. I think the bottle is a leaker, I'm not going to blame the retailer. Anyhow, onto the review... This is a terrific summer scent! Reviewers here are listing Geranium towards the bottom of the spectrum, but I think Geranium and Bergamot are the two main players. I notice the Lemon and to my nose Lavender is the weak note. If you don't garden, let me tell you that Geraniums have a spicy note. This Geranium note is very familiar to me as a gardener and the spice factor keeps the fragrance from being overly citrus.

Might be my favorite Eau de Cologne or even just LEMON scent that I've tested. Alvarez Gomez goes on like a delicious lemon drop candy, and becomes less sweet and more herbaceous over time. I smell geramium more than lavender, but no particular note screams. This is a subtle, careful blend of typical eau de cologne components that smells fresh, clean and natural. Perfectly suitable for either sex and any age. Like all colognes, it's rather short-lived. I could smell the last traces about three hours after application. It starts out strong but after a few minutes, you'll realize it is impossible to over-apply this one. I think it will be better suited for warmer weather, when I can liberally douse myself and enjoy the cool, refreshing alcohol sensation and sunny citrus notes.

such a clean lemon fragrance, you could literally bathe in this, it is that special. so non offensive ...you just smell "clean" and "crisp" awakens me...i use this a lot.. would recommend. so much more affordable than aqua di parma and you pretty much get the same type effect and fragrance. it is exceptionally wonderful on a hot day.. i don't get tremendous longevity but with this price i wouldn't expect that, just reapply bottom line you will smell well groomed, a gentlemanly smell.. it is a keeper.. just take the bottle after drying off , and dumping it literally all over ..I do wish it lasted longer.. I put some into an atomizer just to spritz but I find that I do have to refill it often. but at least no one is complaining.

I blind bought a very small bottle of this off of ebay and am currently enjoying it during the summer. Concentrada apparently has a rich and long history in Spain. It's fairly inexpensive, but is very nice, and the fact that it has such a long history speaks to its quality. Though I prefer other citrus' to this, Concentrada is nice and I would recommend giving it a shot if you're looking for a citrus fragrance. The lemon and bergamot are initially powerful upon opening. It's sharp, fresh and clean. Eventually the geranium becomes the dominant note, and while I'm not as crazy about this part of the fragrance, it's so short-lasting, that it's not a big deal. Probably lasts less than two hours on me.

The Espanish classic por excelencia! This is culture. The performance is truly atrocious on every day but the most insufferably hot ones in the zenith of Madridian summer, when you know to absolutely drench yourself in the juice. Then, and only then, will you get some staying power and projection as the stuff mingles with your sweat and cools you down. A bargain for the 40 € a 750 mL bottle of the cologne will fetch you at El Corte Inglés - and they were probably overcharging! A burst of candied lemon peel and herbs, notably eucalyptus and lavender, and then it's gone. I will never not have this in my cupboard.

Bitter-sweet citrus on the top with nice herbaceous aromatics in the heart. It has this old-school classic vibe that fits older gentleman 35+. I picture Sunday brunch at the country club with parents of your significant other. It would certainly earn the respect of old-man and raise interest of the mother-in-law. For the price, there is no better citrus cologne out there. Longevity and projection are very good for this style of fragrance and easily beat 4711 or Neroli Portofino (which are more unisex and floral due to neroli).

On initial spray you'll be greeted by a slightly medicinal Fruity Pebbles/Froot Loops scent that drifts into a dish soap/Lemon Pledge scent for a moment before settling into Fruity Pebbles/Froot Loops again with a mild herbal note. I know the whole dish soap/Pledge thing sounds nasty but it only lasts a few seconds before it returns to the more pleasant kid's cereal part. Similar to Florida Water or 4711 it doesn't last at all but is a nice reminder of the history behind personal fragrances and how far the art has come today.

Un olor muy especial para mi, me recuerda a un familiar al que quiero mucho. Es un perfume de esos que son "de toda la vida". Me encanta que sea tan antiguo (1912) ya que lo hace más especial el llevarlo puesto. Es un perfume con historia, atemporal y unisex. No tiene demasiada permanencia en la piel pero no me importa. Es muy agradable para diario en verano y primavera. Uele a limón, hierbas y también le encuentro un puntito dulce que me recuerda a la canela. Es muy refrescante y agradable, me encanta.

This is a lovely bright citrus cologne, cheap as chips and surprisingly great quality. Starts with a pleasant juicy lemon top, a true sour lemon scent. It's very refreshing. Undergirded by rosemary and lavender, it's simple, refreshing, and classic. After some time the herbals give way to a lovely spicy base of clove. Definitely old fashioned, but timeless.

Zesty, lemon sherbet candies, followed by ginger root (not listed), fading to clean musk, before disappearing. NOT like 4711, in that this lacks any neroli. Sometimes you really do want a scent that only lasts 1-2 hours, in between activities. It's a like.

I adore this perfume so much, it's a holiday in Spain in a bottle and so inexpensive too, I think I bought a little 20ml bottle for 1EUR? It's clean, citrusy and perfect after you've hopped out of the shower in the summer, super refreshing!

A great little refresher - €8 for 80ml, bright lemon sherbet candy, gradually gains a herbal edge from the rosemary, then slips away, ready for you to get changed and put on something else for the warm summer evening.

Smells like a bag of lemon drops that's been soaking in a bucket of Lemon Fresh Pine Sol and Lemon Pledge. Nothing else. Candy and cleaning products. Stop pretending you smell something else here.

Real citruses with some herbs and bitter freshness. It’s a classic. The list of notes is definitely much longer and subtle than we can see here.

This classic eau de cologne is a rather pedestrian offering unworthy of thy discerning nostril. Though its citrusy top notes of lemon, grapefruit, and lime offer a fleeting fizz upon application, 'tis an evanescent ephemeral medley that swiftly evaporates like a failed romance. The middling lavender heart note lends but a modicum of depth to this one-dimensional dandy water. While its budget-friendly price may suit the shallow pockets of a Victorian clerk, no self-respecting fragrance fancier would deign to don this prosaic potable past sundown. Nay, its crude longevity is no match for the refined tastes of those who expect their fragrances to transcend the very bonds of time itself. Let this pedestrian potion be cast back into the clearance bin whence it came! One's olfactory cravings deserve finer fruition than this passing frippery.

I'm surprised Agua Colonia Concentrada gets compared to 4711. They smell nothing alike. The citruses and aromatics in 4711 are tempered with neroli and jasmine, it's a lot smoother. Agua Colonia Concentrada is astringent and prickles the nose. A bright, fruity, candied pineapple-lemon citrus, a ton of rosemary, along with lavender, geranium, some raspy thyme. It is more spicy, herbal, and has a turpenic undertone. I understand where the Lemon Pledge comments are coming from, I'm reminded of it too. I think if I were able to overcome the negative associations, I would enjoy these inexpensive colognes a bit more. At present I can't. A nice blast of realistic lemon that lasts for one minute and thirty-seven seconds. The mid is just cloves and lasts much longer: two to three minutes. The dry down is very faint throughout the entire minute it lasts. Total longevity is five minutes. Very office friendly, it’s gone before you get there. This is a fragrance for Speedy Gonzales.

Nice 4711-style cologne, very fresh and zesty, perfect for summer and as a gym scent. Doesn't project much after some time, but sits close on the skin for the day which is fine for a cologne.

Comparing this bug spray (Citronella) to Aqua di Parma Colonia, is an insult to one the most ground braking fragrances of our time. And that only because Mr. Smelly likes it, apparently a lot. I like watching Mr Smelly and share some of his favorites, but this one I consider his biggest blooper.

Intense pale yellow lemon at first followed by a disappointing drydown where the lemon almost has disappeared. Some faint remains of citrus peel but much more ginger root and clove. Not very elegant at all, especially compared to the original 4711.

It smells exactly like Citronella. Mosquito repellent.

What a wonderful smell of spring countryside layered with lavender, rosemary, bergamot, sage, lemon, mint and thyme! If it looked like it was on the outskirts of the city, on a sunny Sunday afternoon, walking as lucky people do and enjoying the nature holding her beloved's arm. A sudden shudder shook the heart of the vagabond because for a moment he had felt it was himself, the one walking on the arm of the blind girl who was selling violets on the corner of the street and to whom he gently offered his handkerchief impregnated with a few drops of that wonderful fragrance -so fresh and so clean- so that she could dry the pearly sweat on her forehead The vagabond timidly greeted the florist girl when, like every day, he passed by her and, secretly, extracted his handkerchief impregnated with a few drops of Alvarez Gomez, to wipe his own tears in it.
