American Eagle AEO 1977

I have had this cologne for several months now and i absolutely love it. When summer and spring hit this is my go to cologne for every day use. Its fresh and woodsy scent make it perfect for warmer months where it can blend with the natural fragrance outdoors. If you aren't one for matching your cologne with the seasons it is good enough to wear all the time however in the colder months i would recommend something a tad spicier and warmer. The top notes release a fresh green, almost aquatic fragrance before mellowing out to a deep wood and herb scent which stays with you for hours. A long lasting only one application of two or three sprays in the morning cologne and one of my personal favorites

FIRST! The Bottle: Very cool bottle with camo on the glass almost looks as if the camo is floating around in the juice, very unique from AE. The Scent: Definitely woody/fruity not so sweet mostly fresh woody, first intital blast is strong alcohol, after a minute its very fresh/woody slightly spicy, you get the water and green notes for sure then mellows out very nice all fresh and woody all day, sadly is dosen't last long on my skin i get maybe 2-3 hours then stays close to skin. Overall: I recommend this to anyone looking for a fresh/fruity/woody type smell, perfect for all seasons especially spring/summer day time even night time, its very casual non offensive, i dig it!

Imagine a 7/10 Cologne and this is it. A good daily driver but not top tier. Amazing for 40$ though

Smells like it was released in 1977, like an old-school, better version of Ck Eternity with added woodsy notes and toned-down musk. I also pick up a bit of Amber on the dry-down. Its not amazing, but for something you can pick up for >$40, I would recommend this. 7/10

This is not a terrible fragrance, just remember it’s American Eagle and won’t be anything crazy and layered and sophisticated. It’s not woody-spicy, but more green/woody/aquatic, with hints of musk. It’s a bit too “dewey” green, I wish it were more dry, there’s something that lingers that I find unpleasant. It’s hard to differentiate between the different notes, but I find longevity is surprisingly good for a mall shop frag, and this seems to be the perfect gym bag scent... usually I keep Eternity in my gym bag, but I have been using this recently. It just smells inoffensive. Nothing amazing, nothing instantly recognizable, nothing. It’s fresh, with hints of masculine wood notes, clean musk, fresh greens and wrapped in an aquatic wrapper. The bottle is really awesome as well. This is not something I’d wear every day but I do enjoy grabbing it for the gym and just casual daytime wear. You won’t make an impression, it’s fairly generic, linear, and unsophisticated, which is sometimes just what you want to smell like. The dry down is actually pretty good. Overall I do like it, as it’s not offensive, but it is just boring and generic, and I don’t wear it unless I smell bad after the gym or something haha. I would never wear it on the daily or if I want to make an impression.

I tried AEO 1977 while standing in line waiting to check-out of the American Eagle Outfitter store. At first spray it felt a bit dated and I was quickly hit with that opening blast of alcohol; it reminded me of an 80's cologne, in the general neighborhood of something like Eternity (I did say neighborhood) but certainly more harsh. Within a few moments the alcohol dissipates and few minutes later I am sensing a generic sweetness (fruity?) along with an aquatic vibe. I can describe the drydown as being a lightly-spiced, woodsy, aromatic scent that wasn't lovable nor was it detestable - just a rather average cologne for a the younger sect who crave these fresh, green, sweet type fragrances. To be honest, it's too much unlike Mont Blank and similar type designer fragrances, and I would probably give it a like it it didn't last but 2-hours and sit extremely soft on my skin.

American Eagle 1977.. Well, Let be clear, the 1977 stands for how many seconds this lasts. Basically you get 30 minutes or so, and then a faint skin scent. The opening in this is an incredible aromatic that lasts all of 2 minutes. I’d be disappointed greatly in this one, but seeing as I paid about $15 bucks, I’ll take the L with a smile. You could do a lot worse, but save your money if you’re picky with your blind buys.
