Opus XIII – Silver Oud

Silver Oud has been one of, if not the most impactful fragrance in my fragrance journey so far, both literally and figuratively. I remember when I first smelled it, not knowing what to expect. And well, simply put, I was taken by surprise by its pungent, strong, unusual scent. It was also the first proper oud fragrance that I smelt, which added to my shock. Hence, I detested it. I appreciated it for its uniqueness, but I couldn't see myself wearing it anywhere, nor getting to love it. However, many others have advised me to give it some more time, a few more chances, and then give my verdict. And so, that's what I did - I gave it time, I tried to understand it, and after a couple of months, I now simply adore it. Nevertheless, the chances of you liking it right from the first sniff without prior experience with oud juice are very low, so I wouldn't call it beginner-friendly, although neither too challenging. Let me explain... Upon spraying, "dirty sophistication" is what comes to my mind. A very potent and complex woodiness with smoky nuances shows first, having an undertone of earthiness as well. The patchouli adds its iconic earthy/musky dampness without being overpowering, and a more distinct woody sweetness appears on the scene, with hints of balsamic qualities. Its opening is overall pretty rough, and the combination of notes gives off a barnyardy aroma with a medicinal twist, which is why you might not want to initially smell the fragrance up close on your skin (e.g. wrist), but instead wait for the dry down, which is where the magic happens. The star of the show is easily derived from the name - "Oud". And here, it's Assam oud, more specifically. Its intense smoky, woody, slightly earthy character scares off many after just one whiff. It is accompanied by a very subtle sweetness, resinous undertones, and an animalic edge which adds just a little bit of funk in there. It is all enveloped in a warm aura, with hints of leather also showing off. It's fair to say that "complexity" is a synonym for Assam oud, but I would also add "opulence", "multifaceted", and "majestic" to the thesaurus. Simultaneously, as the oud reveals its glory, a rich caramel-like sweetness joins the show, bringing a comforting and inviting warmth. There's not much vanilla per se - that one becomes more apparent later in the dry down. At the base, with the oud still in front, more woodiness arises, intensifying the smoky/woody duet even more. The Birch and Guaiac wood work together like a charm, made even better by the increasingly-prominent leathery facet from the castoreum. It also brings a faint animalic touch, but nothing untamable. And lastly, a key player in this composition, ambrarome, with a tenacious animalic muskiness, as well as more leathery warmth and little sweetness. After about an hour of development, I get a little more vanilla sweetness and less "funk", to say the least. As shocked as I might've been that day when I took my first sniff of this beauty, I was not nearly as impressed to see Silver Oud deliver such great performance. On my skin, I get somewhere around 12 hours, with some inconsistencies at times giving me slightly different results. But overall, long-lasting goodiness most times. And not just for you, but for others too! Projection is also great, with up to 3+ feet for the first hour, then settling more around 2 feet for the next 3-4 hours, ultimately becoming a skin scent somewhere around the 6-7 hour mark. However, it's not the projection that makes Silver Oud stand out; it's the sillage. And wow, what a trail it leaves behind. It is unmissable. And it is absolutely gorgeous in the air, with family relatives/friends mentioning it multiple times. Versatility. This one is a tougher aspect, or so it may seem at first. It's definitely not what you would reach for as a daily in contexts such as work/school. Rather, I'd keep it for slightly more special occasions, like dressed-up events, gatherings with friends/family, or even dates. And again, let me clarify that the fragrance smells superb in the air, and not as intense or rough as it does when you smell it up close on your skin. In the air, the scent is smooth, woody, sweet, and slightly smoky, with hardly any trace of animalic/barnyardy twists or anything like that. Not only that, but there's also this misconception that Silver Oud and many fragrances alike are for the winter only. That's nonsense. As I got to learn from others before me, Silver Oud and fragrances alike truly shine in the high heat. Didn't believe it until I tried, but it's true. After first smelling Silver Oud and seeing that I do not understand it, I took upon the challenge that I wouldn't stop testing/smelling it until I would truly see it and comprehend it. Not until I would like it, forcefully so or not, but until I would understand what makes it great, what makes it unique, what makes it so complex, and what makes me want to keep trying it. And now, I think I finally understand it. It's a masterpiece of a blend and a masterpiece of oud; a home run by Cécile. And while I can hardly see myself paying $300-$400 for a full bottle, I still think that this is a fragrance everyone should try if they are truly invested in perfumery and especially in oud fumes. It's not a starting point for oud, but it's not the final boss either. And if you learn to appreciate it as I did, you'll find it very hard to not be tempted to empty that wallet. There’s something elicit about the way this fragrance smells. Like it should be a class one felony for wearing it, in a good way. It’s multifaceted presentation and evolution while wearing it is beyond intoxicating. And it’s dark... For those of you familiar with a product called Vantablack, this is what that color would smell like. For those of you who don’t know what Vantablack is, it is a paint. Imagine a color so black that it absorbs all light and makes it impossible to see texture. It might be a bit of an exaggeration to compare the Library Collection Silver Oud to the darkest physical color known to man, but not by much. Dark Oud, Smokey Oud, intelligent Oud. Darkened further by that deep birch tar, yet lifted ever so slightly by a hint of vanilla. I shutter at the descriptions of Oud as “barnyard” as it is entirely off base to describe any Oud as such. Saying Oud is “barnyard” is no more valid than calling a shot of Ristretto “strong”. It does nothing to inform the reader, though I suppose it might ward off the uninitiated. I would never describe any Oud I’ve nosed as “animalic” as to my nose, it smells herbaceous. As a lover of pure ouds, I have nosed many different varieties, all of which are complex and multifaceted. And it is important to note, Silver Oud is indeed real Oud. Not amongst the sea of fake Ouds (even from high end brands such as Tom Ford and Roja) no, this is the real deal. It breathes like Oud, it evolves on your skin like Oud and it is complex like Oud. This is a fragrance that evolves as you wear it. It’s opening is similar to most Ouds, I would call the opening of the fragrance a “throw away” experience. It’s very unbalanced and tends towards a smoky almost mechanical scent. Ignore the first 30 minutes to an hour. Not off putting but certainly not indicative of what this scent is about. After it has had a bit of time to compose itself on the skin, it starts taking on the complexity and warmth one would expect from an Oud. The sweetness comes out and the true resinous woody nature starts to... well “shine” is what I want to say, but darkness seems to be the opposite of shine. Smoky and incense (Amouage is the best incense house!) And interestingly, I get a hint of vetiver. The base of this scent is luxurious and sensual. It takes on an incensey gourmand sweetness. Like Carmel or toffee. Still dark but gorgeously sweet. It’s very comforting in the base and the base last FOREVER. Wrist spray, it stays there for 2-4 days depending on how intensely I scrub during showering. Incredible. I am generally drawn towards Attars and parfum varieties of Oud and find pure Oud oils to be lacking in composition. If I didn’t know this was a parfum I would have assumed Extrait, attar, or pure Oud oil accentuated by a few extracts. It is so strong and lasts for days on my skin. 100 ml is crazy, I might need 10 for my entire life, 20 if I wore it weekly! This Oud is so resinous and rich that it most definitely will overwhelm anyone who is not very familiar with Oud. However, at the same time it does not project as far as some fragrances such as Black Afgano. Yet, within its bubble it makes Black Afgano seem like a light breezy chypre by comparison. If black Afgano is a baritone, then this new Silver Oud is a contrabass. Have I said this stuff is DARK? Brooding and menacing even. I have no idea how or when to wear something this subterranean with any frequency, but it has found its way into my collection as pure avante-grade art. I’d go as far as to say signature worthy. Side note: the bottle is the most beautiful bottle I’ve ever seen. It looks and feels like a stone. I’ve never seen anything like it.

I first tried this perfume just over a year ago, and I was relatively new to the perfume world (just about 6 months in at that point). I was aware of a lot of these niche brands at the time like amouage, roja, memo Paris, etc. but, as many of you know, the beginning of most people’s fragrance interest lies in dupes, expensive designers (Louis Vuitton, Dior, etc.) and beginner niche like montale and mancera. At the time, I thought I loved oud, although little did I know, I didn’t have the slightest idea of what Oud really was. I smelled a couple from amouage, couldn’t even believe what I was smelling, and went in for more. I read “silver oud”, got excited, and at that moment, I scarred myself for many months. Silver oud is animalic. It’s rough and smoky, dark, birchy, and has a noticeable fecal note especially to people who are unaware of oud. I gagged more times than I would like to admit, and I thought that people were insane to even think of wearing a perfume like that. Fast forward a year, and my knowledge and nose has developed more than I could ever imagine. I learned real notes, ran away from dupes, and began exploring indie niche as much as I could. It helped that my dad has been a collector for over 20 years and has also had thousands of samples both empty and full from hundreds of different houses. The ones I took a big liking to were zoologist, dasein, slumberhouse, etc etc. that part doesn’t matter, I’m just highlighting that I became much more mature in my fragrance journey, and one month ago I was back in a Neiman Marcus staring at silver oud. It was sitting on the shelf like an enemy-it’s dark colors and lasting memory in my head leaving me both hesitant but so curious. I smelled a couple perfumes, and then decided it was time to revisit one of the perfumes that had opened my eyes to the real world of perfumery (I know there are houses with much more real oud materials and stuff, like ensar oud, bortkinoff, and areej le dore, but I still haven’t had the pleasure of smelling too many of those). Anyways, I asked the worker for a test of silver oud on a tester strip this time, in case my gag reflex came back. She did one spray, and that was when I knew that I was in for a treat. She gave it to me, and finally, after all of the perfumes I’d smelled this year, my nose was mature enough to understand and really enjoy the perfumery. I took that tester strip with me and smelled it for the 5 entire days and nights that it lasted. Once it dissipated, I had a real issue... I needed the bottle. I ended up buying a whole bottle, and although it’s still very animalic and challenging to me, I can’t get enough of it. The maturity change with my nose in 12 months was something I would have never expected. From gagging and almost puking one year ago, to spending over half a grand on that same perfume a year later, is insane to me still. This is not for the beginner, and I can promise you that. But once your nose is mature, it is absolutely worth it to sample Amouge’s challenging beauty-Silver Oud.

This is probably my personal favorite oud out of everything I've tried so far, including stuff from Bortnikoff and Areej Le Dore, because while it's technically not as complex or as high of quality, it's still an authentic oud scent with lots of depth, and I actually enjoy wearing it in public, it satisfies my cravings for animalic oud but it fills me with confidence rather than making me self conscious. As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever encountered a scent that is as good at including the raw, challenging aspects of oud while remaining civilized and presentable, that doesn't go down the cliched route of rose, oud & saffron. Silver Oud is not that, there's neither rose nor saffron, it's an oud that doesn't shy away, it proudly places itself at the very forefront and gradually reveals its many faces. The opening is indeed a challenging, untamed barnyard oud, smells a bit like fertilizer, but it's definitely not the most extreme I've ever come across. This stage is brief but intense and it smells much cleaner in the air than up close, especially after a few minutes. As it settles down, it unfolds into a deep, charred, mineralic, woody, musky scent with a gentle touch of vanilla, and at certain points, confusingly, it reminds me of roasted marshmallows. If I really try to pick it apart I can detect something that reminds me of the licorice note from Royal Tobacco. I get why it's named Silver Oud, because that's the exact color that it makes me picture. Full bottle worthy. March 2026 edit: I’m sorry to say that I’ve changed my mind a bit on this perfume. I still think it’s very good but it’s no longer my favorite Oud out there. This is an amazing rendition of Oud for what is ultimately a mass produced, commercial product but it falls short when you actually start comparing it to the more artisanal stuff, like the aforementioned Bortnikoff’s. Also, for me personally, it’s just a touch too sweet, and it’s a bit too loud and extroverted for something that’s supposed to be “dark and mysterious”, which is what I personally want out of an Oud scent. I feel like it largely fills the same niche as Royal Tobacco from the same line, but don’t find it quite as interesting or as appealing as Royal Tobacco. I would still encourage you to try this, but I ended up selling my bottle.

Silver Oud is composed by the Parisian perfumer Cécile Zarokian, known for her other creations for Amouage, Nishane, and Granado. In this case, she went for a pretty fearless exploration of Assam oud, one of the most potent varieties of agarwood. The opening is a blast of animalic oud. It is raw, barnyard-like, and animalic. It’s the olfactory equivalent of stepping into a leather tannery. For those who are entirely new to oud, this can be jarring. But for those who are a bit more seasoned, it will be a thrilling reminder of what "real oud" smells like before it’s tamed by other notes. As the initial Assam storm settles, the composition begins to reveal its architecture. Cypriol, patchouli, and cedarwood form a smoky, earthy scaffold that supports the central oud accord. These notes collaborate, creating a textured "forest-floor effect". The inclusion of castoreum and birch tar adds further leathery, animalic depth, reminiscent of classic masculine perfumery but executed with taste. Silver Oud doesn't smell dated. The fragrance transitioning is remarkable. After about an hour, the vanilla absolute kicks in to soften the edges, introducing a subtle sweetness. After 3-4 hours in, the drydown is where Cécile reveals her masterful skills: ambrarome lends a caramel warmth, while gaiac wood and cedar keep the composition grounded in a veil of smoke. Given the complexity, this is difficult to imagine... so the most practical option is sampling. :) In terms of performance, despite its intensity, Silver Oud is not exactly a "beastmode" perfume. In fact, the sillage is moderate but persistent. It’s a scent that performs best when given space to breathe, so you should follow Wusubi's example when he is talking about spraying away from your chest area. Resist the urge to sniff your wrist every five minutes, this one needs time to unfold. Ultimately, Silver Oud is a smoky, leathery, oud-laden composition that will reward your patience.

Updated review: Not sure what Basteri is on, this juice is super addicting. I only have a small 5 ML atomizer 60% or so left and it will last me maybe years, this stuff blasts out of my small decant like a Nasa Rocket, don't even have to spray it, it's so potent I can just smell the cap and it's so enjoyable, nothing I have of my Niche $600 and up bottles smells as good as this. This juice is nuclear and smells like Heaven in a bottle. It's a little sweet, just the perfect amount, this one is so well blended, there is nothing more disappointing than wasting money on a bad fragrance. Spend a little more if you can on something really really good like this one. People are trying to GateKeep this Gem, this one should be sold out. I love interlude 53 for it's power and is one of the rare Frags you can smell off yourself while walking which is such a cool experience, and it actually smells pretty good, but nothing close to the Bliss of Amouage Silver Oud. If I was a billionaire I would purchase 100 bottles of this. Find your Signature scent, this one does it for me, and one from Gucci I have been getting great compliments with. Try Overture Man for compliments, or Sospiro Vibrato, Check Out Blazing Mr Sam, it's no doubt one of the best I have ever smelled, I do not have it currently but I feel Silver oud is better, need to compare the two side by side to be sure, If you want a great Animalic Fragrance try Papillon Salome, if you want a very complex beautiful Tobacco, one of the best ever that lasts a long time on skin is Royal Tobacco by amouage, as of right now it's not available on Amouage.com could be they are discontinuing it? Another great recommendation is MFG Gentle Fluidity Gold, do not get the silver, GOLD is way better, also if you been craving Raspberry's get your nose on Dior Essence. If there is a tincture of Pure Rype raspberries, Dior has created just that.

Silver Oud is not a fragrance that seeks approval on first contact. In fact, the opening is deliberately confrontational—so much so that many will instinctively recoil, if not outright reject it. That is precisely its strength. In an era obsessed with instant gratification and immediate validation, Silver Oud stands as a reminder that the most profound experiences are earned through patience, restraint, and maturity. This fragrance does not reveal itself to the impatient. It rewards only those who understand that depth compounds over time. This is a room filling, unapologetically nuclear composition. It announces itself with authority and permanence. Wearing it feels less like applying perfume and more like stepping into a role—confident, composed, and untouchable. There is an undeniable cinematic quality to it; the kind that makes you move through public spaces with the quiet certainty of someone who knows more than they reveal. James Bond is an easy reference, but Silver Oud goes further—it is less spy, more sovereign. Rather than describing how it smells, it is more honest to describe how it feels. As the French would say, l’immensité. There is a vastness to it—an expansive, almost metaphysical presence. Wearing Silver Oud feels like walking among everyday people while carrying a private universe within you. It evokes the sensation of being an unseen underboss, a figure of consequence moving silently through the mundane. At its core, this fragrance embodies power without noise, dominance without explanation. It feels ancient, informed, and deeply self-aware. The composition mirrors the full spectrum of human depth—emotions that are not always visible, but immensely rich, layered, and intelligent. Silver Oud is not about being liked. It is about being known, by yourself first. This is not a fragrance for everyone. And that is exactly why it is exceptional.

I have a bottle of silver oud, and I’m almost done with a 10ml sample of king blue. Once I’m done, I will buy a bottle of it. I will give an explanation of each perfume so you can find out which one to buy/sample. King blue; king blue has a unique chewy texture. The frankincense, which can give off a fruity vibe, is paired gorgeously with an overly jammy fruity accord. It smells a bit like a marmalade, a saltwater taffy, or a chewy fruit jelly of some sort. This blast of sweet chewy fruitiness is paired with a peppery and slightly smoky and animalic Indian Assam Oud. This will put a lot of people off, and it’s something most people will have to sit with to enjoy. King blue smells regal, playful, and sophisticated all at the same time. This is one of very few fruity perfumes that I love. Last about 14 hours on me, projects very strongly. Silver oud; silver oud has the same animalic Assam Oud backbone that king blue does, but it goes into a completely different direction. Silver oud opens much more animalic, raw, smoky, birchy, and challenging than king blue, but the blend is so well done that it doesn’t feel over the top (at least to me). Silver oud is much more dark, raw, and feral in a way. It becomes so smoky that it smells like a mixture of photorealistic burning wood, and tar. However, there is also the highest quality and smoothest vanilla that is absolutely making this one of the most wearable, yet challenging perfumes at the same time (from the animalics, not the vanilla). Lasts 17 hours, projects loudly. Conclusion: both perfumes are NOT for everyone, but I cannot stop going back to either. They are pricey, but honestly I think they’re worth it as long as you can get it on any sort of discount. Both are a 9.9/10 to me. I LOVE them

Amouge’s website has this listed as an Amber Woody fragrance and I’d say that’s spot on. If anything I’d say it’s a raw amber forward frag, with real oud kind of in the background. Every note listed is clearly in there, well blended together. I don’t think the oud is funky but maybe I enjoy it and I’m used to it. I don’t think this is something you go crazy about up close. You shouldn’t dig your nose in it. But in the air it’s this ambery, earthy, woody, slightly smoky essence with an almost sugary vanilla added through it. It’s sexy. I think that if you don’t enjoy true amber, you won’t like this as most amber frags that are sought after are blended together to push the animalic qualities to the background. While this amber is the star of the show and all of the other notes are there to play as side characters. The fragrance lasts for a while but not like the extraits. Quality is top tier. If you are looking for a different take on amber and maybe want something with an edge try this. You’d be surprised how many compliments you get. I think the low ratings are mainly due to people not allowing this to dry down. Most people also want something you can dig your nose in. But man catching wafts of this in the air is amazing. I heard someone bring up Cécile doing her takes on Ani and Outlands. They felt that maybe this is a woman’s perspective on how a man should smell when approaching a woman. What a woman might find alluring. I’d say I agree. 10/10

When you first spray it, the opening hits with a dense, heavy, and dark smokiness. It’s almost like burned or smoked vanilla from a distance.. thick, slightly sweet but mainly charred in character. Up close, the oud Assam becomes more noticeable, carrying its typical sharpness and bitterness that, to most people, can come across as slightly pee like or even fecal. The perfume overall is quite animalic, but not in that stereotypical primal, sweaty way. Here the animalics play more of a supporting role. The castoreum adds a subtle leathery nuance but to my nose, it mainly intensifies the perfume’s character rather than dominating it. Then there’s the Ambrarome which further supports the smokiness while adding a hint of leathery depth. Perhaps my nose is playing tricks, but I can’t detect the patchouli directly. I suspect it acts more as a supporting element, helping to create that earthy undertone with the oud rather than standing out on its own. Everything else in this perfume is blended so seamlessly that individual notes become hard to individually identify at this point. Overall, Silver Oud is undeniably animalic, but in a refined and balanced way. This is not a crowd pleaser, and honestly, that’s a good thing. You know you’re doing it right when a bunch of people hate something and bitch about it, that usually means that it has its own character or that you are doing it right especially when it comes to artistry or art it self.

This aint scary or repulsive as most people said. The important key to wear oud is never, ever, smell it up close! Let the scent comes to ur nose naturally, then ure all good. To my nose, it smells like smoky woody on the opening, then the vanilla comes out after a few mins. If u bring ur nose to ur skin, yeah it smells pungent and unpleasant, but not like poop, its more like a morning breath to me. But overall, seriously this aint that scary lol... I had high expectation that this would be my most repulsive frag, but i was wrong, it smells like royalty. However dont wear this for intimate night, wear when u want to make a statement. I'll update more after im goin full wear with this. Edit: After went full wear couple times of this, i fell in love with it. There's no gimmick with this, just straight smoky, woody, and vanilla, thats all. But when the vanilla hits, damn its a heavenly scent. Ani, Royal Tobacco, and this, Cecile really knows her way around vanilla. Performance wise (from 10 sprays): S - 9/10. P - 8/10. L - 9/10. To me, all Amouages that i tried were so smooth and refined, so it didnt have a beastly projection like most people claimed (only beastly on the initial spray because of the pungent and unusual scent, but after a few mins the projection became tamed). However, it left a strong scent trail when moving, and thats what i call classy!

There is nothing awful about this. The problem is there are many Amouage fakes floating around. $550 juice does not smell awful. This is a creation by the award winning Cecile Zarokian This is very addicting juice, that I can never get enough of. It's a masterpiece, objectively speaking in my opinion. If you don't like this scent, something is wrong with you. Your nose is broken. Been a fragrance fan going on 20 + years now and nothing I have ever smelled has smelled this good. This is a 10/10 Masterpiece, as far as the smell is concerned for the opening. I get the same with Blazing Mr Sam, the opening with Mr Sam is just Top Tier good. Was on a live with a lady that had Halfeti and Mr same on her skin but Halfet smelled better on the dry down to her, and she was giving Halfeti bad remarks at first. Not sure why anyone would not like this scent, it's absolutely sublime to my nose. My conclusion is you got fake juice, I have been a victim of receiving Fake Fragrances. I have a fake PDM, Fake Creed, Fake Gucci, Fake Mancera, and a Fake Tom Ford. It's just too easy to extract the juice from any bottle and put something else inside. Don't be a victim, and only buy from reputable retailers. I promise you this juice is magnificent, that is if you get the real stuff. If you could smell what I have in my Decant you would fall in love with it.

I smelled this one before but not sure why I did not realize how good it is. I put one spray on my arm and the magic began. Never had smelled anything so good as this. It's dark, powerful, and animalic in the best way possible. Can't say the same for king blue. I have smelled King blue before it was good, but the last time I tried it, the smell was rancid like. This goes to show that fragrances can change and "maceration" can occur, not always in a good way. As far Amouage house is concerned, these are the best ones from what I have got my nose on. Silver Oud 10/10 Irresistible Dark Masculine Animalic Masterpiece Royal Tobacco 10/10 Lasts longer than Silver oud on skin but doesn't smell as good Interlude 53 9.7/10 Super strong Incense, can morph into like 100's of scents Interlude Woman 9.5/10 Gourmand Blackberry Bliss, Super Potent, solid purchase Overture 9/10 One of the best fragrances for compliments, smells fantastic Journey 8/10 One of the best spicy scents out there, Extrait version please Rose Incense 8/10 Smell is 10/10 But does not last long, one of Best Rose Scents Gold Man 7/10 Too female leaning, very strong just not for me too Rose Heavy Outlands 7/10 Not sure the hype, was not impressed, smells ok, overrated Search 7/10 If you love lemons, you will love this one, too boring for me

I'll say right now that if you're primarily a fan of things that are light, bright and fresh then this probably won't be for you. I'd also say that this is something which is going to be potentially repulsive if you just sample it on a strip in the store, because the opening is...interesting to say the least. For me, personally, there's no skirting around the fact that this opens on quite an animalic and faecal smell amongst a sticky, resinous, woody oud. If this were all that the scent is, I wouldn't be able to recommend it. It would sit alongside some of the weirder Zoologist compositions that are interesting but unwearable. After an hour or two, however, (I guess depending on skin type) these unpleasant notes dry off and you're left with a very well-balanced, beautiful oud composition that feels warm and luxurious. There are some sweet, vanillic notes in there that balance out the funkiness of the oud really well and it becomes genuinely really great to wear. That said, YMMV on it and it's probably the least blind-buy safe Amouage fragrance I've tried and that's saying something because hardly any Amouage is really blind-buy safe.

The beaver was here. He just came out of his dam in the middle of dense nagarmotha pools and started working. You can tell by the cuts in the agarwood and cedar—lots of them, with more agarwood than cedar. After a while, he realized he forgot his lunch. He went back and brought something sweet, probably vanilla, and placed it nearby before getting back to work. (Yes, this beaver eats vanilla—who doesn't like it, right?) Compared to King Blue, this scent is more masculine and animalistic. King Blue is softer, more fruity, and delicate, but they share a similar character. Silver Oud is too pungent at first, while King Blue is nice from the beginning. Later, I prefer Silver Oud after it dries down; it's simply hypnotically good, but it's less wearable than King Blue. King Blue is amazing as well, but not as Amouage, not as artistic in my opinion. For me its 10/10. This the only (maybe with royal tobacco) Amouage like, Amouage. Longevity 10h hands down. Sillage good enough to generate questions 'whats that?' after two sprays. Only this price...is it worth it? It depends...

Immediately opens with a skanky barnyard note. But once it settles, it becomes the best interpretation of real natural oud that I have ever smelled. Regal! Sexy! Classy! Just WOW! If you ever wondered what real oud smells like, get your nose on this! Dark, woody, smokey, skanky! Smells like rotten fermented wood! Delicious! Hey, that's what real oud is! There are nuances of other notes including cypriol, vanilla, an earthy patchouli, and even hints of fruitiness in the dry down, but oud is the star of this composition! The quality is mind blowingly good! But it will take an experienced nose to appreciate it. If you're new to oud fragrances, don't run away from this one based on a sniff of the tester; this fragrance deserves your respect. Try it on skin and let it develop for a couple of minutes, you'll be glad that you did. Of course the price is another story altogether. For 500 big ones, I honestly can't justify buying this if you're not a fan of oud, but for me, I'm going to save my money and get this bad boy! It's totally worth adding to my collection. I am hooked!

For those who are interested in wether this fragrance contains real oud or not, im here to tell you that silver oud contains between 1.5 to 5% real oud, of course there is no way to "exactly" tell how much because different ouds got different amount of components to them like agarispirol or Kusunol and the gcms reports only show the amount of these component in the whole formula and in order to detect the exact % of oud, we have to know exacly what type oud they have used in silver oud but to average the numbers out we can say silver oud may contain around 3% real oud but what about the other notes? This fragrance is mainly cypriol (around 19%), patchouli(around18%) and synthetic woody amber notes responsible for its atomic performance (iso e super around 20% of formula, vertofix around 10%, amoroxan around 8%, javanol around 8%), there are also cedar, Guaiac wood, sweet maltol, raspberry keton, labdanum, calamus, vanillic molecules, tar, black pepper, osmanthus and grape fruit like molecules and tiny tiny tiny amount of animalic notes in it.

I just love these reviews! Feet, corpses, zoos... Wow. It's like a mass olfactory hallucination! Alas, I can't join in, as I like this perfume a lot, and I am neither a cowboy nor a zookeeper. Silver Oud starts out as a blast of uncompromising indolics, complete with mothballs and a dark chocolate note that I find very elegant. If you don't like animalics, run away. No, faster than that. There is, depending on the turn of your skin, a slight, short lived, barnyard touch but none of this is some nightmare essence built on the spirit of old festival portaloos. It'a a pleasant clever treatment. The dry down leads to a well treated oud that turns into smoke with the patchouli/vanilla combo subtle underneath. This is a perfume for adults, it is sophisticated and for me at least, very comforting, lovely in Winter. My issue is that I find the bottle design dreary. I am a woman who likes the perfumes on my dresser to look beautiful as well as smelling gorgeous, and for prices like these, I'm not interested in drab.

Got a full bottle after looking testing for months. This is truly for the oud lovers out there. This is not some sweet oud like the western style of perfumery no this is smoky and animalic all while giving you blast of oud. On the opening and this stays for 1-2hours after that it slowly starts to change(very slowly) where the vanilla comes into play and when it does it is beautiful blend of oud smoke and vanilla. The ingredients feel incredibly high quality. This is an unpopular opinion but IMHO you can wear this all year around (yes I do mean it) as this is always worn in the middle eastern counties where temperatures almost always stay always 30+. Don’t worry you won’t kill anyone wearing this in the summer as the lack of sweetness in this making it less headache inducing and less cloning. This is for mostly dressed up occasions only as it just screams luxury. Longevity on this is a good 10+ hour on skin and for days on clothing so no issues there. All in all very exited to have this in the collection.

Most of the reviews here had me expecting something truly vile and revolting. When I first sprayed it vanilla reinfoced by smoky woods unravelled which to my surprise was very pleasant and confusing (due to some graphic reviews I had in mind) with some time what I can describe as a metallic element emerges and quickly transforms into a smoky woody oud that doesn't hold back but my God it's perfect and exactly what I want from an oud forward fragrance, the smokiness does eventually reduce but is still noticeable. Insane projection and longevity, one or two sprays max for me. Very pricey but I will definitely invest in a full bottle once I finish my tester, this one is for special occasions in winter nights. The best I can compare it to is promises promises by Kerosene mixed with oud edition by Montale but add a hint of funk. Masterful blend! If you love real oud and are familiar with it, you have nothing to fear from this. Silver oud is truly addicting. (Tested on skin)

First day wearing this I put some on my wrists. It projected all day long and I could smell it quite well. Second day I put it on my neck. Two sprays, wow this is a powerhouse. Don't eat food right after, it might be hard to stomach as you'll be getting some animalic overdose at the beginning. This is a great smelling oud, but it is quite strong to the wearer at least. I'm not sure on the projection yet, but it definitely envelopes the wearer. A very rich smoky scent that develops throughout the experience and is a mysterious experience for your nose. At one moment you're smelling petrol and at another a sweet woody scent. Definitely worth a try if you like dark deep scents. Very niche and rich scent. Update: After owning this for 7 months, I still hold it as my #1 scent. I don't wear it all the time because I consider it very special and more of a dress up scent. It uplifts my mood every time I wear it.

revisited: still love it. overall better, rougher and decidedly dark iteration of oud as opposed to the ambery fruity mess in king blue. That one has a good deal of citrus and black currant that kind of makes the fecal pungency poke out really badly in the first ten minutes, then it dries into nondescript clean musks, ambrocenide, and synthetic woods to lift up the traces of naturals offered. This one is a bath of cypriol and patchouli and guaiac first and foremost, where the only synthetic wood i can pick up on is javanol, which helps to lift and push out the rest of the heavy secondary naturals like oud, labdanum, castoreum. It's so smoky that sometimes you can't tell theres a load of vanilla and ethyl maltol here, but i think its balanced amazingly. The animalic touches from castoreum and ambrarome are what really set it apart imo, making it rugged in a classic and elegant fashion.

Perfume for a handsome werewolf. Bespoke suit, handcrafted Italian leather shoes, onyx cufflinks. Diamond tipped fangs and well manicured claws. Smells like dangerous money. I'm 12 hours into my first wear and this juice is surrounding me like an aura. Smells like a clean, well groomed animal, but feral below the surface. Castoreum here plays a big part, with smoky vetiver and I'm guessing Assam Oud. I'm only just picking up the vanilla like a light seasoning. If you don't like animalic and deep oud notes then don't risk it. I'm almost picking up the scent of blood from a fresh carcass, sweet with a hint of iron. My nose is telling me that this is the interplay between the Castoreum and vanilla. I'm also picking up a raw musc which isn't mentioned in the notes. Apex predator juice. Not for F boys! I can see a woman wearing this but she's a black widow.

Maybe I put too much on. Maybe I'm allergic? Dizzying, intoxicating, psychedelic. I feel lightheaded and energized at the same time. Really I think this has got me high. It's 80°F by the way, truly insane weather to be wearing this. In such heat it has the effect of clarifying all other aromas on the wind... particularly the foul ones. The grease, trash and sewage of my city's streets can now be appreciated for their richness and complexity. In contrast, passerby's colognes and perfumes now hit the nose so flat and lifeless it makes one burst out in laughter. Really outrageous and very addicting. Paradoxical too! This scent could be emanating from the sweating skin of naked hippies kanoodling in the summer woods, or from the pitch black suit of an oligarch stepping out an armored limo into the frigid winter night. Whew! Someone hand me an EpiPen.

I’m at a loss for words. I was told today to try out silver oud in the summer. I have always been scared of wearing animalic ouds in warm weather, and I’ve actually never once worn king blue or silver oud in public let alone in the summer. I’ve always been scared of what others would think. Today, I put 3 sprays of silver oud on my neck. It’s 90 degrees Fahrenheit today, and I’m seeing a lot of people. Silver oud is doing something that I never expected it to do. It’s shifting based on the temperature. In the heat, it seems to become denser, more ambery and sugary, and ashy. It of course has that animalic edge that made me fall in love with it, but in the air it’s a lot more approachable than I would have ever expected. I am so glad that I pushed past my fear of wearing animalic ouds out in the real world, because that’s where they truly shine.

The person below is a serial killer in the making 😳. Sheesh what a unnecessarily violent “review”. In a few years when their nose and tastes change and mature that will be an embarrassing block of cringe. This scent isn’t for everyone, but no scent is. If you like smoke and deep leathery woods, you will appreciate this. It’s impeccably composed and has a lovely sweetness to the oud if your nose isn’t a rookie to ouds onion-layered facets. I find this irresistible and gives a gravitas that is memorable and unique, the roundness of all the notes rhyme with each other to give the journey of a scent that weaves across different facets of wood. Fresh, wet, smoky, leathery, sweet. If you are a wood fan then I highly recommended getting your nose on this one

I really dont get what is so offensive about this (and king blue for that matter). Yes they make you smell like a baby ox but thats kinda the point? Like a really cool golden baby ox that has barely even pooped at all. Edit: this has REALLY grown on me, the oud is just... so... deep! The Oud Ulya attar is a 1:1 to this and lasts til your next incarnation. Edit 2: ive become obsessed by this, i need a d*pe ASAP cause im not lashing out five HUNDRED chips on a bottle. DM me if you know about this. Edit 3: yeah so, i had to get this. Very curious to see so many people repulsed by it. Got a sample of Oud Cambodi Intense by Haramain, the scent profile was approximate but lasted for virtually 1 hour. This is THE deal. So grateful for eastern perfumery. 🤍

@ilija_d i'm not gonna ask myself why someone with a collection of 20 mass appealing designers and azzaros the most wanted on his wishlist doesn't like one of the most challanging amouage fragrances ever but i'm definitely asking myself what someone like you does on this particular page here. Why even bother making a review about a complex fragrance, if your taste, symbolically hasn't developed past the age of a toddler ? lol. you need to stick to JPG and Paco Rabanne bro, amouage is not for you or maybe stick with reflection man and call it a day. You are wasting your time, typing some gibberish nonsense and chances are high you will regret it one day, when your nose, if ever, is to mature past your current state.

This is great. Don't be scared by any of the reviews regarding this scent being off-putting or disgusting. They're wrong. If you've smelt king blue, it is along a similar vein but less of the sweet amber and more birch. Yes the birch gives it quite a dark 'ashy' smell, but it's not overwhelming whatsoever. If you've smelt some of the zoologists like Hyrax, T-Rex and Bat this doesn't come close to those in terms of unwearability. In reality, king blue actually has more of a 'fecal oud' touch to the start. This doesn't have that but remains in the oud/birch camp throughout the life of the fragrance. I've worn this to the office, not had anyone 'throwing up' or dying or saying I smell of a dead animal. Success!

I am born and raised in Dubai, i smell and wear Oud since i was a kid. Lots of the perfumes nowadays think they are making Oud Oil, but lots of them are just not even close! But we have to take a stand and a hat off for Amouage ! Not only because they are actually from the Gulf and from a place who knows what OUD is but also because they know what they are capable of doing ! So much love for this smell so much original and dominant! I respect this smell just like the way i love it ! 12 hrs already gone and the smell is still all over the place !! But the preis is however is overy budget ! Totally a perfume to have. But i will enjoy testing it whenever i will see it 😅🥰 450€ in Hamburg Germany 🇩🇪

Wow! Love this! All of the main accords listed above; woody, leather, smoky, oud, balsamic, earthy plus animalic, all at once, for about 3 hours! Then the brew gently simmers with an added vanillic sweetness for another couple of hours. It speaks, “not for the faint of heart”, it commands, “fortune favours the brave” and above all, it bellows, “take no prisoners!” We’re in Braveheart territory with this one. Regardless of whether you’ll love it or despise it, you have to at least sample it, to say you’ve tried it. It almost seems like a rite of passage. This is the fragrance that you wear when you hand in your resignation and walk out smiling.

I literally can't deal with some of the reviews below. The exaggerated drama! This perfume is a once-a-week go to for me. The oud is sour for about 15 minutes and then it turns into a beautiful scent. Imagine a fruit wood log half burned and then extinguished. It's the silver charcoal of the cold log. I think people are judging this on the initial spray rather than what this becomes for the 10+ hour experience. Try it for yourself, and ignore the hyperbole. I recently had a straight army veteran stop me and ask what I was wearing. "You smell SO good. I don't normally notice guys' scents, but wow."

Silver Oud is deep, dark, dense, smokey, woody, ambery, powerful, and slightly animalic. A masterwork! One of the most amazing perfumes I have ever smelled. Very masculine. At first, Silver Oud releases hints of animal or barnyard notes. After a few hours, the oud begins to give way to a very pleasant dry woodiness, and you can catch whiffs of a very beautiful woody blend from a distance. I detect a lot of birch tar and the sweetness of woody vanilla in the deep dry down, resulting in a really lovely, soft, sweetish, "burnt" wood accord. 10/10 for me.

If you are used to oud smell this is the single most luxurious well blended skanky animalic oud leather dark fragrance ever with crazy longevity and sillage of more than 12 hours. Won't be liked by people that wear exclusively Dior Sauvage or similar blue fragrance since it is an acquired taste but once you get into it can't get enough. It's one of the priciest amouage with retail of 500 Euro per 100ml but if you can find it at like half the price is well worth it. Connoisseurs around you will certainly know its a niche very expensive fragrance

If I were to pick up a piece of half Burt firewood and smelled it, that’s what this reminds me of. It’s super woody and earthy. I personally think it’s fantastic! It’s definitely not a fecal Oud by any means. It’s just a smoky dark wood. I’m glad that someone finally made an Oud fragrance that genuinely just smells like the wood without the added rose. Is it worth the price? Well if you want a woody Oud fragrance then I say yes! Also I will add that this fragrance doesn’t change much at all. It’s quite linear which I think is better

The opening reminded me of Tauer's L'Oudh: a big dose of cyrpriol produces a medicinal, turpentine-like blast. The drydown is much more subdued. I only pick up a slight animalic note; most of it is lightly fermented oud, cedar and birch wood. Occasionally, a "cedar chest filled with mothballs and grandma's old wool blankets" note rears its head and I find it off-putting, but in general Silver Oud is an interesting, thoroughly enjoyable, modern take on oud for those who love it. Those who don't will hate this. Not a safe blind buy.

For those who comment that the scent resembles feces, it's because they judged the perfume right after it was sprayed and immediately took a close sniff. This perfume has an excellent projection and sillage, don't be mistaken! In the air, its scent is very pleasant and so good. Often, we don't like perfumes with weak projection quality and dislike those that become skin scents, but we prefer to smell them up close. Give this perfume time, wait a few minutes and hours, and of course in the air!

This is great. Not sure where the fecal or negative reviews are coming from. Some also complain that it is too sweet. I don't get that, but my wife does. Is there some sweetness, of course. But not too sweet. For me, this is taking a bundle of birch lighting it on fire and tossing it into a plot of sugarcane. Then you sprinkle a tad bit of vanilla to produce a potion for your unsuspecting victims. Lasts a long time. Dances around your sense of smell and again, really enjoyable.

Old school Amouage fragrance! It is complexed, sweeten,slick,not to be judged to early fragrance. Give him a chance, wear it for few days. For me not barnyard stink but ... interesting. If you're tired of linear boring fragrances you must try Silver Oud. Unpacking the scent last for days and makes an awesome adventure for fragrance lovers. The most surprising thing Silver oud IS socially acceptable. In the air all the notes are gathered perfectly in a nice smelling scent.

I like this more than King Blue because it has a little barnyard stench to it. Its not boring at all. I don't see myself wearing it often, but I do enjoy it. I am not a fan of layering fragrances, but I know that it is common in the middle east to layer oud oil with fragrances so I will give it a shot. Someone mentioned Royal Tobacco so ill start there. Burnt sugared wood. Update: My wife (whose nose is not especially adventurous) sniffed it on my neck an hour or two after application and gave me a compliment. Clearly not “mass appealing”, but I get 0 fecality and don’t find it overly animalic. It’s a scent I go back to sniff relatively often, either on skin or off the atomizer. Update 2: Upgraded to a “love”. I just keep coming back to it. Cecile is the GOAT.

Dam best Fragrance Amouage has ever created. Only creation that is close to this one in terms of greatness is Royal Tobacco or Purpose 50 with an Honorable mention to Overture for compliments or Interlude 53 for strength, and Journey man for a very great spicey scent but is not strong enough and also Interlude woman which is one of the best gourmand scents out there Smells better on skin

Probably from the patchouli, but to me, this is Interlude Man, but a little fresher and with Oud. The oud definitely gives a different dimension. It definitely gives off a cannabis smell, but far more pleasant than any skunk weed I’ve smelled. I love it, but I definitely wouldn’t wear it in any situation where smelling like you you’ve been smoking weed would be a problem.

Okay, I have a bottle before anyone says I’m crazy, but I’m wearing silver oud on my wrist, and in the air I swear I’m getting this jammy marmalade sugariness. The second I put my nose into my wrist though, it’s that familiar charred burning wood and tar with thick smoke and oily animalic leatheriness from castoreum. Crazy how this smells like marmalade to me in the air

This is the most beautiful scent I have. I like the opening and the first 2 hours the most. The art of appreciating this scent is to catch the smell in the air! Most perfumes are very weak nowadays so you need to smell them up close. Not with this one! One spray on the back of your hand is enough to enjoy this masterpiece.

I'm just gonna throw this out there. I think that this scent is my number one compliment-getter. What people are smelling is the 10+ hour dry down. In the last three wears, I've heard "Sexy," "Amazing," and "Really good." I do tend to wear a little heavy but I'm never in a confined space.

The animalic notes and intense woody aroma can overwhelm your brain and make you sick / stomach hurt if you're new to (niche) fragrances, so this is not for beginners. But I would say this is one of the most harmoniously complex ouds by a large company. Masterpiece by Cecile Zarokian.

This is pure joy. Brings a sense of happiness if you are oud lover. Strong oud, incensy, woody complex. Lovely progression but getting the oud from start till end. Scent 10/10 Performance 10/10 Projection 10/10 Sounds crazy: my bottle is new and thinking about buying a spare one.

Smells amazing. Not meant to have you burying your nose in your wrist. Just catch the smell as it radiates off your body. Up close it is funky oud with smoky syrupy Vanilla. In the air it smells like a perfectly blended oud and vanilla with the smokiness from Interlude Man.
