L'Eau Guillerette

Imagine a bucket of ice cold water with ice cubes in it. You throw in white lilacs and lilly of the valley and put your face in that bucket. Notes of lilacs and lilly of the valley intertwining in ice water, very cooling - that's how L'Eau Guillerette smells like. I think that it is perfect for summer for weddings, family gatherings, baby showers and your friend's all-weekend birthdays celebration in hot July.

A very floral yet light take on lilac and lily of the valley, I'd say the latter one is a bit more obvious to my nose. There is a hint of "sponginess" coming from the heliotrope that surrounds the bouquet of flowers and make it slightly powdery and reduces the green bitter edges

A baby-soft lilac opens the fragrance, paired with bergamot and crisp white florals. In my opinion, this is the calmest, least edgy creation from this house but even here, there are surprises. The profile is very soft and delicate, almost baby-like ~but not in a powdery way. It’s more of a creamy, faintly vanillic sweetness that gives it that tender quality. The sweetness level is very low, almost cold, but just enough to keep it from fully dancing in the green category (there’s something unlisted in there, I think). Now for the surprise: there is a distinct indolic facet; and it’s unmistakable! You might not catch it at first, but in the drydown (and even just sniffing the atomizer), that indolic quality emerges. I call it a “quality” because, to me, it’s the thing that elevates this fragrance. It feels like the faint, heady indolic air you get when standing beneath a real lilac bush. I also sense a hay-like nuance; similar to what I picked up in Merzhin, though far more subtle here. And the drydown is musky. For reference: I’ve always held En Passant as the gold standard for lilac. This doesn’t smell like it, but it reminds me of it. Compared to En Passant, this is much more focused on lily of the valley (that clean, imaginary white floral note) and is not aquatic at all. I’m writing this especially for those curious about its lilac; this is very much a lilac + muguet composition. To cut to the chase: this is my very first full bottle from the house. I’ve tried most of their creations, and they are all special and distinctive but I chose this one because I’ve recently fallen hard for photorealistic florals, and this bottle fulfills that craving beautifully. Lily-of-the-Valley right after start, lilac, heliotrope, musk ... tick, tick, tick...basically smooth, totally blended, bit sweet and vanilic bouquet of light white-violet flowers for your mother-in-law if she is not allergic to pollen. Could be used as cartridge for your home aroma diffuser should you like flowers too. Pretty neat but basic and ...sorry to say...sapless.

the search continues for the perfect lilac, sadly this just reminds me of lily of the valley air freshener

I’d characterize this as a “friendly lily of the valley”. If you find most to be sort of malevolent in vibes, you will know what I mean when you try it. The drydown is giving me major nostalgia for Avon scents of the 70s and 80s. And throughout, I detect the familiar, unique flavor of Jujubes candies. Together, these two forgotten relics of my childhood are working a wonderful magic spell. PS. Did you know Jujubes candy featured flavors lemon, lime, wild cherry, violet and lilac? That must be why I occasionally sense their flavor in some perfumes...and this one has a lilac note! 4.5 out of 5.

Is my nose broken? Instead of lily-of-the-valley, I detect a salty aquatic scent, strongly reminiscent of Maison Crivelli's Rose Saltifolia. Once again, the brand DNA irks my nose and comes forward more than the concept of the perfume itself. For lack of better words, I can explain it best as a thin veil of a commercial, mall-like perfume.

The first sniff unfortunately very strongly reminded me of Light Blue (Dolce&Gabbana), which I absolutely loathe, so this was the end of our story with this one. I wish I could smell lilacs, as I love them, but no, just the sharp, piercing citrus that kills my brain. Scrubber.

Feels like carrying a lilac bush around with me. Lotv is not as pronounced, but it's a flower which is so hard to depict.. Lilacs however are more than present. Beautiful, beautiful!

Cool, green and fresh lily of the valley. Other florals are not very prominent. Very nice.
