Osmo

I received a free sample of this. Finally had a warm-ish day and decided to try it since it hypes the marine note. Initial impression was meh... another masculine leaning aquatic. I likened the opening to Akro Breathe, which I really do not enjoy. BUT.... the dry down is so unique and addictive. It definitely holds the marine note throughout. Then it gets COLD and clean. Like crisp winter snow in your nose when you walk outside and it's minus 10. I can't stop smelling my wrist. I feel like this couldn't possibly offend anyone, but some are saying this is one of those scents that has to agree with your skin chemistry or it can turn on you. It's such a likeable scent to me. I love iris, but I don't pick up any of it here. Also just a wee hint of cedar at the opening. Not very sweet, so I can see this being quite unisex. It has a similar vibe to Goldfield and Banks Pacific Rock Moss but colder. I honestly love this. Full bottle worthy.

Finished a sample and then bought the full size. This gets a lot of compliments, particularly from men, but it's nothing like the cookies-in-the-oven gourmands we always hear about as "compliment getters." It's cold, salty, floral, and extremely unisex in my opinion—smells like standing on a rocky cliff above crashing waves and deep, dark water; like the flowering trees nearby are being whipped of their petals by a strong wind. I hardly ever go for floral notes and this is exactly the kind of floral that makes sense to me—usually I go for woodsy and green. Maybe it's because this scent feels so experiential and realistic to a hyperspecific natural setting. I think Andrea Maack is particularly strong in this realm, considering Zing and Coven.

Truly unique and niche. Osmo is a perfect transitional fragrance for spring. It reminds me of dewy, humid spring mornings, just after a rainfall -- with a cool breeze blowing through freshly bloomed jasmine vines. I pick up the marine notes right away, a jasmine heart, and a musky, mossy base. There's a green note that lifts everything and keeps me coming back for more. I haven't smelled anything else quite like it. Bravo.

impressions: creamy jasmine, cucumber melon, buttery iris, salty salty salty! so good, this scent is addictive and i always go back to it. it’s not my usual scent profile, but when it’s on my skin i can’t keep my nose out of it. next day on clothes it leaves a beautiful scent of fresh laundry with salinity. beautifully unisex.

Salty, licorice-y vanilla. A sailor stepping out on his old shipping vessel, chewing his morning ration of salty black licorice. Through the fog, he spots a mossy shore in the distance, and to celebrate, drinks watered-down condensed milk. Sweet, nautical, with a pucker of anise.

Unique strongly marine scent. Pink pepper dominates on opening but dries down to a lovely lactonic marine scent, a bit fruity too. Clean, not musty or mildewy, just very natural. For my fellow New Yorkers, it smells like the inside of a freshly cleaned B or D train.

This one took me by surprise. I cannot get enough. I want to cold-plunge into it. I love this take on a cold aquatic— marine without seaweed or Calgon bath beads. Musk instead of Amber. I love it.

Super surprised by this one! BR540 and Torino22 undertones, it definitely scratches that itch if you like that profile. The sweetness here is replaced with a more marine vibe.

I love this perfume. I am from California and it reminds me of cold beach sand and a salty ocean breeze in the fall. It makes me nostalgic and happy.

The pink pepper in this one carries it. Very masculine but anyone can rock it. To me and my dad it smelled like an Icelandic volcano which makes us happy as Andrea Maack is Icelandic herself. The Icelandic perfume industry is tiny and we Icelandic people definitely aren’t as into perfumes as other countries but I definitely feel like this fragrance references the Icelandic nature in a good way:D

The smell of the cold, salt-water sea mist plumes mixes with the dewy, foggy forest of the coast and the remnants of the perfume you sprayed on yourself last night before going out on your jacket as you decompress after a very long night. Opens up with frosted salt water accord and a lot of pink pepper. As it dries down it gets this lovely damp, slightly green oakmoss and cedar woodiness that mixes with a sweet, creamy, bacarrat-esque musk. Not a ton more evolution past this point besides the 3 major players fluctuating in their intensity and dominance. An odd one for sure, I wasn’t expecting this contrast of salty, minerallic air, damp green moss and woods, and a sweet, Baccarat Rogue-esque sweet musk. This might take me a bit more time to fully get to know, but there is a surprising amount of sweetness in here for something supposed to be reminiscent of the brutally cold Icelandic coast. I personally wish it leaned more into the cold coastal forest idea because the musk takes away from the overall story/scene for me. It’s a good step into niche woody fragrances, maybe even a more “feminine” leaning Oud Minerale styled fragrance due to that sweetness (but wear what you want). Very solid longevity of 8+ hours with it pushing off my skin for the first 2-3 pretty well. Could become cloying in heat. 7/10. Song vibe - Love Language by SZA TLDR - Dark, cold seawater + woody, slightly green moss and woods + baccarat sweet musk come together to form a nice, easier to understand brooding woody fragrance that people of identity would enjoy. A good one for the transitional months.

Smells sunscreeny without any coconut. Reminds me of Dedcool Mineral Milk, which I'm not a fan of either. Good entry sunscreeny fragrance but just not my cup of tea.

There’s some thing addictively unique about this, but it doesn’t work on my skin. It smells like the air on crisp walk mixed with freshly cut cilantro. Incredibly bizarre, but interesting nonetheless.

On me I hate it! It smells like musty peppery red deadnettle, extremely salty mineralic ambergris, and sickly-sweet licorice-like melon or bitter cucumber. Reminds me of dawn dishsoap toooooo

I’d call this aquatic more than marine. Calone dominates Osmo but as far as that material goes I think this is a good use of it. I’m not a huge fan of aquatic fragrances in general so I won’t critique it for being one. Besides the calone, which here is surprisingly smooth, I get a light orange note throughout the drydown. The first 15 minutes were my favorite part of Osmo—a creamy jasmine note that was quite nice alongside the aquatic notes. Too bad it vanished quickly. You’d have to love aquatic, cold, fresh fragrances to enjoy this. I’m not a huge fan just based on the profile, but I was pleasantly surprised by the softness and smoothness this has, while maintaining a bracing freshness.

Interesting I don’t get BR540 AT ALL. Buttery orris, salty, and oceanic. It’s very much a cold Icelandic day. I liken it to Liis - In This World but I prefer Liis. Osmo is extremely unique, not unlike many of AM’s other frags. It’s fun to smell but not wearable for me.

The marine note unfortunately just does not work with my skin. I smelled it on paper and it was amazing but as soon as I sprayed it on my arm, it became grotesque. It's a beautiful fragrance and I'm sure would work for somebody else but sadly it doesn't work for me.

I imagine myself sitting at the beach eating warm sourdough toast that’s bathed in salted butter. Behind me is foliage letting off an aromatic floral note. This feels like the northern latitudes version of Acqua di Sale and I’m 100% here for it.

So good! It is fruitier than I imagined it would be. Really playful and fun + approachable scent. Probably incredible in the summer time, but it's nice and uplifting for this time of year too.

If Coven is a dark forest witch, Osmo is a sparkly, daytime beach witch. This surprised me in the best of ways. I have a 5 ml sample and I anticipate it won’t be enough.

I couldn't get past the fishy salty marine notes to smell anything else, instant scrubber.
