Nuage Vert

NUAGE VERT by AndrèSimon is a fragrance bringing together most of the most vibrant green shades in the fragrance world: emerald green galbanum, enchanting artemisia, herbal mate, nostalgic chamomile and the rich scent of pine. As one layer of green fades, another layer of green emerges, creating an effect that is true to its name: “green cloud”. NUAGE VERT may not be “wow-at-first-sniff” but the level of transformation, deep, sophistication, and quality of the natural ingredients that Andrea provides are big pluses. A “must-try” for those loving piney, coniferous, aromatic and green notes.

Judging by its complex note pyramid and spotting a few I rather like, if not love, such as eucalyptus, chamomile, galbanum, labdanum and oakmoss I went ahead and ordered an 8 ml decant. Amidst all these notes, however, the perfumer has pushed fenugreek to the forefront. From the very first half hour, it dominates to such an extent that it overshadows everything else for a solid 7–8 hours. Those who already keep their distance from immortelle should steer well clear of this perfume. My wife, unsurprisingly, hated it. She said it smelled like an unwashed person and called it old-fashioned. It’s a scent better suited to evenings and cooler weather. Performance is good, but that intense fenugreek simply doesn’t work for me. I’ll stick with Papillon’s Dryad. There’s simply nothing quite like it.
