Fantasia Gold Edition

An interesting scent! Definitely less fruity than the original. Thankfully I don't get any of the citrus notes. I do get something a tiny bit spicy (like cinnamon spicy) possibly might be the rice pudding note, it is pretty prominent on me, mixed with vanilla. I get the tiniest hint of something floral, most likely the jasmine and vanilla orchid mix. I don't get a lot of patchouli, if any. If you own the original I would say it's okay to grab this one because, at least to my nose, it smells different from the original. Decent longevity 4-5 hours on 6-8 sprays, clothes and skin. Sillage probably good until hour 3 where is a skinscent but this is on the cheaper side (for me at least) so I don't mind respraying. Contrary to the below review, I haven't smelled anything similar to this, I have a pretty large collection and have smelled even more on top of it and smelling this was a new experience for me, I couldn't think of anything that smells similar. The closest thing I could think of *maybe* is the Between Us perfume from one direction.

This flanker is a spicy vanilla and patchouli fragrance. I was looking for that rice pudding note that intrigued me, but I didn't get any. This is a little sweet but not much. Overall, it's okay, but I've smelled this fragrance many times before from other houses, so it's not unique.

I always think it's sad that the Anna Sui Perfumes are never as interesting as the bottles they come in (or the notes listed!) would suggest. This smells perfumy from the florals, sickly sweet with vanilla and tonka and very spicy - presumably from the rice pudding note. Cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and mace I'd say, which is more bread sauce spices than rice pudding but aaaanyway. I don't smell any rice or the creaminess rice should provide, and the lactonic fragrance that a rice pudding note should have is absolutely drowned by how crazy-sweet it is. I imagine everybody tried this for the rice pudding note and I guess it's voted up the top purely due to the spices in it. It's making me think of overly sweet, spicy amber perfumes. I think if you like Hypnotic poison you might enjoy this one, it's giving me that sort of feel. It's not that it's an unpleasant perfume, it's just a shame that it's not a creamy gourmand. FYI, I CAN smell the patchouli here and I think that + jasmine is what's creating the vintage perfume vibe. Even for Ana Sui I find this one disappointing. Edit! After sitting in a dark cupboard for a year, this one seems to have improved! Tbh my expectations were different this time and I wasn’t expecting rice pudding, but I feel like this smells more creamy now and the patchouli feels calmer. It’s still sweet and spicy, perfumey and has a slight feel of Hypnotic Poison (sans root beer), but it’s finally got a creamy vanilla feel to the sweetness, rather than being sickly. I’ll try a full wear now it’s getting colder to decide if it’s worth keeping, but it has definitely improved with age!

It may not be groundbreaking, but Fantasia Gold Edition is still enjoyable to me. I love sweet fragrances, and my skin skews fragrances toward sweet and spicy note. Perhaps because of that, though I see that others do not get a creamy rice pudding note from this, it’s quite present for me. The florals here are very pleasan, especially the fresh, vibrant jasmine I perceived here. The citrus top is light, fresh, and fleeting, and after it’s gone is when I think Fantasia really shines. The spiciness is apparent but not overwhelming , just sweetened, warm spices on a bed of soft, fluffy vanilla. I’d consider this perfume a crowd pleaser.

I want to say that this one is delicious a fine fragrance elegant and seductive. I do sense the rice pudding note and the floral sweetness. The top notes are well blended and it's an addictive scent. Love Anna Sui.
