Omizu For Her

In the absence of aquatic notes, Omizu for Her is a unique fragrance that exists, subtly painting images of secluded shores and whispering cliffs. The first moment I had a sniff of this perfume, I became obsessed with it! I sprayed a little bit on try paper, and it was in the back of my nose and mind 24/7. This is addictive. It is sweet, musky, and woody at the same time. First spray you feel the honeysuckle, white musk, lily and jasmine. Dried down, the sandalwood and orange blossom kick in. This can be worn during the day, and also at night. Sweet, musky, and woody simultaneously, what a beautiful combination!

This is like a luxurious soap wrapped in a floral warm perfume. It evolves beautifully. Clean and exuberant at the same time. I love it. And it lasts all day on my skin and clothes.

The bottle design and name can easily lead to associations with an aquatic style, but in practice the composition sits firmly in the white floral and woody musk territory. The opening shows a clear white floral presence—lily of the valley, orange blossom, and jasmine forming a dense floral field. The indolic aspect is restrained. The flowers carry noticeable body and richness rather than a sheer, transparent quality. Through the heart, the structure remains relatively steady. Lily of the valley fades, while orange blossom and jasmine continue, joined by honeysuckle. There is a mild soapy nuance and a gentle powdery tone. The powder level sits around the middle range far from the character of vintage face powder. The sweetness is soft and floral in nature, with a clean, slightly rounded texture rather than a confectionary impression. In the drydown, the fragrance settles into a close-to-skin woody musk base. The scent becomes intimate and smooth, with a comfortable persistence. Longevity and projection perform well. Overall, it reads as a classic skin scent subtle, wearable, and centered on the sensation of clean, softly warmed skin.

At first this is a white flower bomb. Jasmine and Heliotrope often don't agree with me and they teeter on the edge for an hour or two and then settle and blend. The warmer musk and woods then come through a little and a bright smoky floral incense. Then a gentle floral woody musk remains in the dry down for the rest of the day. It really isn't my kind of thing but I admire it hugely for its complexity and balance. There is something amazing about recent Annayake fragrances. They are all so beautifully blended and balanced. Everything is in motion all the time. The notes do a wonderful dance with never a wrong step.

I love Japanese incense, and there is one I have one that is made from Osmanthus. And that scent was what sprang to mind the first thing I sprayed this on my myself, and only thing I kept smelling even 6 hours into wearing it, even though it is not on the ingredient list. It was only into the 7th hour that I could smell the warm sandalwood. I like white florals and warm gourmand perfumes, but this one, I found myself veering towards not liking. I did not NOT like it but I did not like it either. This feels like a cool summer or warm autumn fragrance, where the sun is out but not sweltering. I think I shall try it again when those seasons come around.
