Maroquin

There's a lot to get through before Maroquin establishes itself with its central accord of dark myrrh, smoke, incense and wood. In the beginning there's patchouli and tobacco and the rich sandalwood texture of the house. Rosewood and cedar creating space. Orange to soften the wood. Resins bringing out that familiar ginger-clove-molasses-sandalwood "new age boutique" style of the house. For some reason it makes me think of a university town, arty and privileged. There's light styrax, dark, nutty myrrh, carnation and Peru balsam. And it keeps developing, sage comes through, herbal and black tea–like. And increasing in prominence, elemi and frankincense. A dark, woody incense. 40 minutes in and all that initial complexity resolves as the accords finally slot together. And suddenly oh my, the smokiness! This is good! For me it's smoky, peppery resins rather than leather, though leather is there. A lot of myrrh lifting up off skin too. And there things stay, the dry-down finishing somewhere between deep myrrh and soft, woody resins. Serious stuff.

Maroquin is a lovely balsamic jungle! Maroquin is the Renaissance art of book binding!This has prominent Leather and Incense notes in the heart after a small fade of metallic citrus top! Then a serenade of tobacco, vanilla and honey with spices rolls in. Wow! The resinous oils in this DOUBLE EXTRAIT are fantastic! If you want a leathery incense fragrance with a touch of honey and vanilla, go no further, buy Maroquin by Annette! This lasts on my skin for 10+ hours and projection is standard, but I do notice a nice trail in the room! This reminds me a bit of Copper Skies by House of Kerosene. I think its the slight metallic and tobacco edge they both have.

The tobacco pouch of a saffron and pepper merchant, the supple but strong leather of a book binder.... These two men are constantly vying for the attention of a vivacious and provocative, spicy skinned dancer who wears red carnations in her hair. A fair amount of citrus and some lovely clary sage in the opening, then the lively carnation comes forward. Within an hour it’s settled into a spicy leather with a piquant, dark tobacco. All on a subtle base of resins, vanilla, beeswax and a little wood. This is a rich and complex perfume but the considerable peppery spices and zests keep it energetic. Just fantastic.

Metallic sweet citrus. It's more of a vanilla citrus within a metallic frame. It has that pepper scent, with beeswax, rosewood, styrax, & allot of bitter oranges. It's like a running mineral water within metal pipes as the water has that tiny vanilla orange taste. The colder it goes the more peppery it become. It's ok to be specific as i have sniffed something similar to this before, although this screams quality but the blend idea wasn't that appealing to me tho. Special thanks to "Polyanthes" for making me discover this brand from some of her previous posts without her knowing that :) Edit (20 minutes in) the colder it goes the more smoky it gets, now i can smell a burning woods, more like the smoke of the burned woods, interesting!

what a fantastic quality scent, sweet smoky leather, well blended with faint hints of a smouldering tobacco pipe. If you want a sensual evening scent this is perfect, absolutely beautiful. Definitely full bottle worthy, A hidden gem .
