Bois de Gayac

One of the most glorious scents I have ever smelled! And seems so few know about it. Which is a plus, really, as few will smell like you if you wear it, so you are guaranteed an individual aroma if you wear it. It's sweet and wondrous, very unique. It reminds me of Guerlain L'Instant Extreme but even more refined and romantic in it's composition, more rich and velvety. Definitely for a gentleman or a businessman. For a evening out at a fancy restaurant or some other important occasion. Smells like money and class. Just beautiful. Thunk urbane and glamorous. And European. Probably skews older, at least 30+ years old for sure. It's a bit heady and potent for sure, more suited for cooler temperatures.

Stunning - one of the most beautiful opening half-hours of anything I've ever smelt - deep orangey hardwood, resin, huge almost medicinal tang of band-aids and antiseptic that's somehow sensuous rather than scary, rippling with sap and life and organic depth. The smell of the inside of the most luxurious tropical hardwood chest ever built and then filled with the finest spices. Just breathtakingly great. Horribly expensive and obscure, though, and the longevity could be stronger. But oh my. As far as I understand it, gayac=palo santo = holy wood and this scent is so gorgeous it's not hard to view it as something sacred. Absolutely transcendent.

My husband uses it and I like to smell it on him :) Deep ,woody perfume.Longlansting,as all perfumes of Visconti.

I'm wearing an old, old sample that's well past it's prime, all the others in the box have since leaked out. (found it while cleaning up the 'clutter room') That being said, it's actually really quite nice on the skin. It's resinous in a way but a bit sweet and very rounded and mellowed out, which brings forward a powderiness. It's all backed by kind of a manly woody accord... I wanna say i got a little citrus in the very beginning? I'm only 10 minutes in and while there might be a little orange creamsicle idea in there i could also come around to more of a fancy woman's body lotion, so who knows. I like it! i thought i remembered one note in Bois de Gayac that struck a bad chord with me, but whatever it was, it's not here now. It's been a long time, and there's been alot of samples, people. The sad thing is that this is the only Antonio Visconti i've ever tried... I guess i should go and find some other samples? All in all, this 'review' is probably worthless to you... unless... unless you have a little sample of bois de gayac sitting beside you... and there's this one weird off note... because if that's the case, what you should do is get a sample of De Bachmakov (the Different Company) and a sample of Chambre Noire (Olfactive Studios), spray all of them on your skin at least once, slightly untighten the two new samples, place them in a small little box with Bois de Gayac, place that small box in a big box, place that box in a pile of other boxes in a sort of humid room and proceed to forget about it for half a decade. ~et voilà!

Sweet woods. I really wonder, where is the vanilla note! in here there is huge doses of vanilla. It has that vanilla that covered the whole dark notes like guaiac, cedar, myrrhw, and the sharpness of pepper, and saffron. It has nutmeg, and labdanum. This is the European oud in a vanilla dip, as it's not overly dark, and not cloying sweet, it is quite balanced and interesting.

Its my curse to fall in love with fragrances way above my budget....:-(......got a sample that I treasure dearly and use when I want to attract attention and feel luxurious.....yummmmm..... Matz Stockholm Sweden
