Esprit Libre

Starts with an explosion of zingy citrus, as if I was sinking into a bathtub filled with lemon and lime juice. Bathing in juicy yellow colour with a slightly (!) bitter touch of lemon/lime-peel. Each first spray pump is such a heavenly refresher and a pick-me-up on hot and humid days. The fragrance stays citrus-fresh but develops some greenish, herbal undertones and gets sweeter and a bit warmer at the same time. My impression being, someone has added a handful of tangy green herbs into my lemon-lime-bath and topped it with some sweet dill (to my nose the herbs smell like sweet dill). Nothing scratchy or too herbal, just a hint of green aroma that adds to the overall fresh impression of the fragrance. Galbanum, lavender and oakmoss lend the scent a clean, clear and cool background, while orange blossoms, herbs and pine offer warmth and some sweetness. In combination all the ingredients paint a clear, sunny and warm day in a forest, with lots of soft greenery, mild and sweet herbs (with just a pinch of slightly bitter undertones to enhance their natural aromas) and some warm earthy tones.On some days the bright, sunny orange blossoms (not indolic) get pretty strong on my skin, lending the scent a warm semi-fruity, summery feel, on other days the earthy tones appear stronger. But no matter how the accompanying notes develop and change, the citrus fruits are a reliable constant. They shine fresh and clear and sunny from first spray to the last traces of the scent. What a splendid blend! A harmonious, friendly, and smiling scent to my nose, a dance of marbled summergreen and yellow. Like all of the Viscontis (at least, those I have got to know so far) the fragrance seems classy and sophisticated. It's easy to wear, soft and airy, in some passages powdery, and it shows - although a citrus scent- impressive longevity.
