Crazy Garden

I am completely in love with this. I recently received the discovery set and I'm making my way through the scents. I do know this isn't gonna have the longevity that something priced at this point would have. But the way the scent makes me feel and how I connect with it and it actually lifts my mood, it makes me care less. And true compared to other similar fragrances, it is probably overpriced. But again, I think when you love something, you care a little bit less about that. I could go on about what I like or the different notes in it, but I find that experience so incredibly subjective that I don't know how useful it is. I could say that I got the discovery set because I am such a huge fan of Dominique Ropion. So that may tell you something about the kinds of sense that I wear. But to be honest, I have quite a range. I wore Kurky the other day(I know it isn't DR) and I know people say it comes across more like a body spray. I kind of laughed when I read that and it's hard to argue with, but I still really thought it was beautiful. And higher quality ingredients of course. I realize this is not a review for Kurky. But I wanted to add that in there because I think that while I am a huge fan of Dominique Ropion's work, I am capable of appreciating a wide range of scents.

very intense mandarin opening which becomes softer along with tuberose and green notes...softer than dune and only really resembles dune in the drydown.

There's nothing crazy about this garden, nothing memorable, nothing outstanding. What's crazy here is the bottle. It's utterly tasteless "in person" and incredibly heavy, definitely weighing a kilo. What is that, a dumbbell?

Smells lovely until, after 20 mins or so, a corny, nacho element comes forward. I've smelled this exact nacho thing in a Hugo Boss flanker and in several of those new Amouage essences perfumes. It's a real head-scratcher as to how anyone could tolerate smelling like that. I find it totally repulsive.

Inspired by paintings of Douanier Rousseau, Ropion is reinterpreting a 'fantastical Eden, more vivid than reality‘ Intense and vibrant mouth-wateringly realistic lemon note with a delicious, slight orangey sweetness to it and some additional fruitiness on opening. The florals are somewhat overshadowed by the intense citrus and the quickly emerging powder from vanilla and musks. It does smell floral, green, and fresh, like a lush garden with highly fragrant flowers, though the top and base notes dominate, making it difficult to single out which flowers. It is exotic, lush and bold more than delicate floral, a bit old school, baroque but still fresh. I wouldn’t call this a 'green' scent though. While it starts off fresh and green, it ultimately reveals itself as a rich yet fresh, floral oriental. Very 'Diva' and 'Hollywood' like. The kind of scent you'd wear with a golden, form fitting gown. I have no experience with 'Dune' myself, however, 'Crazy Garden' feels familiar, brings to mind something I think to remember from my childhood in the late 90s. 8/10

Dune lite or Cartier Must lite. Totally redundant and unoriginal. I agree that this is not Ropion formulating for himself. The bottles probably the heaviest I know and in London's Fortnum Mason they there standing near Reine de Saba.
