Lotus Rising

I understand the comment about being hit by indoles as the first burst smells like Jasmina, but it quickly changes into a sumptuous tropical floral that reminds me more of starlight than sun, before drying down to a most harmonious 'vacation smell'. Even my gf who hates champa and jasmine (and lotus makes her head feel weird) said this was a craftily-blended offering and liked it; I have to agree. There's something that reminds me of vacationing in the Carribean in the 70's here and I just love that scent memory. I have smelled $100 blue lotus essential oil in jojoba as well as 10,000 USD blue lotus that John Steele shared and all I can say is there is such a range in how lotus smells, that I wouldn't be able to pick it out here, except that I think it's the ingredient giving the scent that special sparkle.

Not worth the hype. I have been dying for a good lotus perfume that isn't loaded with synthetics and designer aroma molecules. This is natural, but not lotus-focused enough for me. I wanted it to be the star. Instead the champaca steals the stage for most of the show and the lotus oils take a back seat, disappearing totally early in the dry-down. There's a slight head shop incense aroma, more noticeable in the opening and early dry-down along with a surprisingly strong note of old celery (which I think is coming from the champaca variety used here). The celery note dissipates, but could be problematic for certain skin types. At first I thought I had a heat-warped sample. The musk is not my favorite. It seems like sandalwood would have been a better choice for a base. The musk and champaca wind up giving it a dry, almost acrid quality in the dry down. It's been on my wrist and back of hand for roughly 45 minutes and has already lost most of its power and sillage. It wears close to the skin, but it amplified by heat so it is best sprayed on your torso. Great idea, poor execution. It's a shame they didn't really let the lotus oils shine. Side note: within a few minutes of application my head felt slight pressure and my mood and hyperactive brain slowed down to an almost blank state. Lotus oils can have a "hypnogogic" effect as well as aiding in meditation and other medicinal uses. For me the effects were almost immediately noticable. If you're sensitive to herbs and remedies that way, don't use this unless you're in a safe place where you won't be under stress or doing anything important where you need focus.

Lotus Rising opens with bright pink faketastic pez fruity candy — over a gorgeous, complex, brocade-like floral with a feathery-soft, clean, natural musk (ambrette?) Sometimes there’s a juicy orange note; sometimes I feel more of the rose. The bright-pink note sticks around, as flashy as ever, and takes over into the drydown, making Lotus Rising a decidedly fruity, vibrant tropical floral. It smells, somehow, like a peacock. there’s a sense of colorful display and avian reserve. This is a beautifully executed, lush, all-natural version of a basically tacky theme. I’m not sure how I feel about that; it’s like a gourmet Hawaiian Punch. Definitely worth a try if you’re interested in colorful vacation vibes.

I did get a peek of a pretty lotus note early on, but it unfortunately fizzled quickly, leaving only champaca and frangipani.

You will remain in the old world of 3 dimensions... but if You release every thought and opinion,- this is when the real Mystery of Lotus Rising comes!: suddenly You will find Yourself like in a vacuum, sort of space buffer of sorts... and then...🤩 unexpected You will actually start to see and taste the fragrance instead of just smelling it. You will be raised in a new World, where every Cell in Your body will be washed with mouthwatering bubble-gum pink! Refreshing aqua-turquoise mist! Vivid creamy yellow light and bursting like champagne with golden radiant sparks of rejuvenation ! This is new World You will find Yourself in! Fully and completely Happy, floating on a delicious new dimension color cloud, being simply out of this world and into a new!,- where Life is wholly Delicious state of Bliss!!!🧬💖✨✨✨small advice: try to spray it on the lower back of Your head and neck, You will get that extra Magic Effect!🤩✨✨✨

At first sniff, I was hit with a strong blast of indoles and vintage potpourri, and I had a feeling this was going to be yet another miss- but I'm glad I decided to go ahead and give this a skin test- because once it settles down a little, it is truly lovely! Primarily, I smell champaca and frangipani, with just a hint of iris and rose in the dry-down- that said, I have no idea what lotus smells like, so that's hard to judge. The base notes create an enchanting nag champa incense-y vibe- The longevity is surprisingly good, given that this is a natural fragrance. If you like Songes but found it a little too heady and syrupy, give this one a try- it is truly growing on me~
