Pecan Butter Cookie

I'll give my honest opinion. I'm extremely critical when it comes to perfumes, and before I begin, I should point out that the notes listed on Fragrantica don't always correspond exactly to those officially disclosed by the brands. Quite often, the accords are simplified or represented by generic images. In the case of Pecan Butter Cookie by Arabiyat Sugar, that distinction actually matters: the powdery notes in the heart are, in fact, almond flour, and the hazelnut in the base is a green, unripe hazelnut. If you're looking for a truly gourmand fragrance, this is one of the finest examples I've ever experienced. Nowadays, many perfumes are labeled as gourmand simply because they contain one or two sweet notes, but here we have a composition built almost entirely around that concept, with multiple gourmand accords working together to create something that feels practically edible. The opening, during the first few minutes, is fairly synthetic and even slightly harsh. I believe this comes from the buttery accord combined with the green hazelnut. Fortunately, that impression fades quickly. From that point onward, the pecan, walnuts, hazelnut, and green hazelnut essentially merge into a single accord that is deeply nutty, almond-like, dry, oily, and incredibly velvety. The buttery accord, supported by coconut milk and a touch of ambergris, creates a subtly salty and creamy sensation without any animalic or marine qualities. Despite the many heart notes, the fragrance behaves almost like a single unified accord. The roasted nuts introduce a caramelized nuance, the almond contributes a pleasant dryness, and the almond flour provides a remarkable sense of softness and comfort. The drydown is wonderful. Everything blends into a softer, skin-hugging version of itself that remains incredibly cozy. This is an exceptionally likable fragrance—deeply comforting, with a gourmand realism capable of making you want to "take a bite" out of whoever is wearing it. The projection is moderate during the first few hours. It doesn't dominate a room, but anyone who comes close will certainly notice it. The longevity pleasantly surprised me: after about three hours, it settles close to the skin but continues to linger for quite some time. In one test, I applied a single spray at 10:00 p.m. before going to bed, and when I woke up at 8:00 a.m., I could still detect it faintly on my wrist. After wearing it through an entire workday, my perception of its performance changed slightly. I woke up, took a shower, and applied it on a cold day. The projection during the first few hours was noticeably stronger, but on my skin the longevity ended up being only around three hours. Even so, after a 12-hour work shift, I could still smell it faintly on the collar of my shirt. To my nose, it's a very elegant fragrance, perfectly unisex with a slight masculine lean. I don't associate it with any particular occasion, but I believe it has tremendous potential for unconventional dates or intimate encounters, precisely because of its comforting and personal character. If Arabiyat—or any other perfume house—were ever able to recreate this fragrance with stronger projection, a little more lasting presence after the first few hours, and an even more refined execution, I genuinely believe we'd be looking at a true gourmand phenomenon. It deserves a solid 7.7/10.

Not that bad, but not that good either. Opening is very nutty and creamy, just like smelling a butter and pecan pie straight out of the oven. The first 10-15 minutes are pretty good. The coconut gives it a very warm and cozy feel, the sweetness is moderate, the hazelnut and almond slowly make an appearance and the overall feeling is very gourmand, very bakery/ cake shop with amazing and very tempting desserts. But then comes the dry-down. As with almost ALL of the scents in this collection, there is a very bad, a bit metallic, very synthetic and plastic-y smell that lingers for hours on skin and just screams CHEAP fragrance. I own a lot of middle eastern perfumes and I am very happy with some of them, but this entire line has the exact same dry-down with the exact same foul smell. So disappointed as I really wanted these to be good... :(

At first, I didn't like it, synthetic and heavy. It had a very heavy, woody, nutty smell. After allowing it to macerate for a while after spraying, I've now started using it more often as a linen spray because it lasts a long time on clothing and affords another scent profile in tandem with my regulars for uni. I definitely smell the almond, and it's very gourmand, creamy, and not overpowering when done in this fashion. So it has grown on me, but it is not a safe blind buy unless you're looking for a muskier, nutty, gourmand scent. I'll finish the bottle I bought, but I probably won't buy it again or have it in my regular rotation for anything important. On the other hand, it is affordable; the bottle I bought was on sale for 29 bucks AUD, when it is normally $59.

I received several sample vials of this. The first few times I tried it, it was meh. It has grown on me quite a bit. The opening is definitely warm coconut. The pecans are there, but nothing super strong. The butter comes through, very warm and very sweet. If you do not like sweet, gourmand coconut, you will not like this. I enjoy layering it with other scents, especially chocolate or pistachio.

Smells exactly like the notes listed. The opening is very nutty- full of almonds, pecans and then butter. It then dries down with something floral that I can't quite make out (but not as prominent as YPG, which I find is the main difference) plus some gourmand vanilla, and the butter+coconut still in the background. Honestly I wouldn't consider this a dupe of YPG, just a sister.
