Koh I Noor: Bottom line up front: This is about as good a fragrance is going to get. The opening is photorealistic lemon with an almost over ripeness and waxiness to it as well. If there aren't aldehydes in the opening, the lemon does a pretty convincing job. In rushes a fresh, animalic deer musk and intensely indolic white and yellow tropical floral bouquet. The gardenia is dominant in the beginning and has just a hint of the creaminess to come. When the body of the composition comes into play, imagine these same indolic florals start to become more nectared and the indoles begin to subside. Eventually these florals are placed in a bowl of thick yellow vanilla custard when the sweet creamy sandal combines with the ylang, emerging tonka, benzoin, and gardenia. This stuff is CREAMY. An subdued earthy spiciness becomes evident with the patchouli. The oud in this must be a very smooth, sweet hindi. It just hides in the back as this resinous-sweet leatheriness, especially when combined with the amber crude, which also imparts an almost smoky leatheriness. The deer musk gets fluffy and sweet, almost powdery as the composition closes, but makes room to remind the wearer there's still some interest with a soft combo of tuberose and jasmine sambac. The projection is modest, but this is the type of fragrance to pull someone in, not knock them over like they're passing the fragrance store at the local mall. The sillage is alluring. This composition is slightly abstract enough to be intriguing but perfectly executed in blending. Seek thee out the diamond in the rough...

This is a lovely musky beast. It's taken a few wearings for me to feel addicted to it. I wasn't quite sure whether it was a like or a love. It's now firmly in the love category for me. It calls a number of modern perfumes to mind. The indolic jasmin musk plus patchouli of Salome without the urinous notes. The oak moss tuberose pairing of Maai without the feral leathery vibe. Even a slightly salty dirty floral vibe a la Musc Tonkin. The musk is similar to the musk seen in Russian musk but it isn't as aerated without the pine and fir notes. Koh-I-noor is none of these perfumes but it lives in the same vintage floral world. It's not particularly dirty but it isn't clean. It's indolic. The gardenia is lovely, lush and creamy. Over time a slightly salty burnt caramel amber emerges on a smooth sandalwood base. There's a sweetness - no way near as sweet as Inverno Russo - which is balanced with the woodsy, resinous and earthy notes. The florals are lovely and present throughout the 12+ hours but are never alone - this stays firmly in the floriental category on my skin.

I'm in the 10/10 camp on this one. ALD is the real deal. Wearing Koh-I-Noor now, 1 spray on the back of my hand, tapped onto the other hand as well... and every sniff literally makes me shake my head at how good it is. I'm a sucker for champaca, and the floral musk and 30-year-old oud with mysore sandalwood here are simply amazing together. I have Walimah as well, and they're almost hard to pick between, they're both so good, but that oud is definitely an amazing standout in Koh-I-Noor. You get what you pay for. At least with ALD you do. Update 1: 15 hours in, and it's only now wearing down to a softer, still slightly animalic amber/floral skin scent with a few hours to go. Got about 12 hours of solid projection from this 1 spray split between both hands... Simply incredible. Even this late in the fragrance's life, the quality of ingredients is very obvious. Update 2: Over *18 hours in*, and she's finally tapping out as a (nice!) skin scent. I stand and salute in awe as I see her off. Heaven in a bottle, right here.

Computer calibrations can not make something so fine and perfect, the human touch is priceless. This cannot be mass produced otherwise, be ready for batch races. This is a fragrance that when it clicks, it clicks. It's one of those fragrances full of opulence and regal touches, you'll think you're a king or a sultan, it's ancient and modern at the same time, it's a smell like the 1800s yet relevant to our time. Dirty, indolic, yet creamy and smooth; a little bit of vintage guerlain florals, a little bit of vintage chanel aldehydes a little bit of aged Indian oud, a little bit of real musk; a floral-Musky bomb definitely NOT suitable for everyone, but excellent for a nose like mine. This fragrance to me still needs to be left alone for a while, as natural ingredients a way of developing with age. If you judge it too early and you give up, your loss.

Complete love! Most perfumes have notes that feel screechy, too sour, too sweet or have something else wrong with them. I do love vintage perfume and have tried a lot of them. Kooh.i Noor is to me the perfect "prefumee-y perfume". It smells like a classic perfume, but so much better. The quality is outstanding. After the sharp citrus opening, I'm enveloped in a warm, fuzzy cloud. Actually had to purchase a backup, as I have been wearing this almost every day for several months, which is unusual for me. Smells gorgeous on my male partner, as well. And, no, this is nothing like vintage l'Heure Bleue, not even the same genre. L'Heure Bleue is a cold, melancholy perfume with some sour and sharp in it, this is just warm and fuzzy.

Do I love this perfume? Yes. Can I wear this? Perhaps. This perfume is amazing, but it is a beast! If you are not prepared it will knock you down like a big soapy wall. The pungency is the only real challenge for me. I have now worn this 3-4 times, and each time I enjoy it more. This is definitely something that requires time to appreciate the complexity. It smells different on clothing and skin. In this case I actually like the thinner, less overwhelming waft from applying on material. Once you apply this to skin, it is fascinating to witness the musk explode into a fluffy creamy cloud. Update: bought it - love it... it smells so freakin' good. But not for all occasions! I usually wear this when I'm dressed to impress :-P

They don’t make them like this anymore. Literally. This one is long gone. The triumph of the fourth collection from Areej. This one is an incredibly sensual floral musk with the most comforting, tender drydown: musk/oud/sandalwood/Amber. In my estimation, the lemon at the opening is the secret weapon, adding an overwhelming fresh note to play tug of war with the over-the-top florals and animalic musk was a stroke of true bravado. Before this sold out, I would always hear the employees at Luckyscent whispering to each other that they couldn’t believe people didn’t seem to understand that this was THE ONE. Well, people seem to have caught on, now that it’s too late. Up there with Salome and MKK for lovers of floral musk.

A regal fragrance! It is exactly how I imagined it to be (which is a bit scary). Vintage white flower opening in your face. Aldehydic even. Amazingly animalic musk turns up and disappears, like in a hide and seek game. This first part is challenging for me but it also gets quiter after one hour. The second part is winning me over: All the components combined in this blend become fruity. I'm a sucker for fruity fragrances but not only is this preference mauvais goût... I mostly dislike the strong synthetic aspect of it. Here, I feel a natural fruit. With all its flaws and underlining tones: tart, narcotic, vinegar, dusty, ripe, mushy. I can feel even a tobacco whiff. Fantastic!

I had SUPER high hopes for this especially since I watch Nikhil; I thought it was going to be the most luscious creamy exotic floriental in existence but was let down, not because it's not good but because it's not floral enough :( Although it's a bit indolic, it's nowhere the musky velocity of Inferno Russo nor the synth-civet heavy Diaghilev, so it's actually wearable and worth trying unless you're hypersensitive to any animalic scents including aldehydes, orris, and natural white florals. Add-on (2 yrs later): Although I kind of regret not getting it, my precious sample is the gold standard I compare to when something new catches my attention

Such a bold animalic opening makes it hard to pick out any floral notes. Wait ten minutes or so and then the ylang and champaca are evident. It's still very musky but now it is lush with intense fragrant flowers. All these intense exotic scented flowers appear backed by the warmth of amber and sandalwood. These otherwise diva flowers have been tamed and now mesmerise. It's a floral but it's not particularly feminine. Nothing sweet and girly to be found here. It's a scent that celebrates some of earth's most beautifully scented flowers. I get good longevity and average sillage.

Koh-I-Noor ~ Something from yester-year, like a finest vintage well preserved in a dark cupboard, and now taken out by the new generation and faced big bad world of commercialised scents baring no character nor soul that vintage juice was once known for. I didn't expect to like it. In fact, after initial "granny drawer of musky musty personal belongings" vibe I had written it off completely and was happy I will be saving my pennies by giving it a miss. And yet, each time I applied the tiniest amount from the sample I was so scrupulously saving, I felt it was winning me over.... Koh-I-Noor was a true rollercoaster of love-hate relationship from the moment I laid my nose on it. Maybe because initially, based on note breakdown, I had envisioned it as big, heady, bombastic, overly floral - verging on too feminine for my taste, scent. And how surprised I was to find that florals, in fact, on my skin were playing a mere secondary role in Koh-I-Noor. *To me* it was all about the heapings of vintage-y, fuzzy, animal fur musk written in bold capitals; the kind you don't often encounter in modern perfumery offerings, whether it be niche or artisanal. I see it getting compared to Diaghilev a lot yet I don't particularly get that, except for both scents having that vintage aura about them. Diaghilev opens on my skin brighter, tangier and a lot more fresh as opposed to Koh-I-Noor's fuzzy furry musk laden top. Latter's sweet nuances to my nose would be more comparable to vintage Mitsouko bar the heady oakmoss part. I have never come across a modern day fragrance which smells so authentically vintage. And when I say vintage, I mean it the best way possible!! Drydown phase is where Koh-I-Noor takes shift and becomes more of an ambered, molten caramel hued, creamy oriental-floral on my skin. The musk is still ever so present but here it has faded into the background and plays a supporting role; mainly, as it seems, to give sensuality to the composition. An overdose of heady, indolic jasmine sambac absolute mixed with benzoin in the base unmistakably reminds me (yet again.. you can sense my slight obsession here) of the drydown in vintage L'Heure Bleue extrait; being a sweet, indolic, slightly animalic and heady scent. One that is quite bewitchingly beautiful, without a doubt! Although Koh-I-Noor have never made its way to my collection(yet..), it deeply touched and teased my olfactory senses with its unique beauty and weird-but-wonderful allure....

A potent and enveloping Floriental musk with high quality ingredients, this is in my opinion the finest offering of the fourth batch of Areej Le Dores. The perfume showcases a beautiful animalic musk throughout its development. First the opening is musk and lemon. The dense heart also encompasses beautiful floral extracts (champaca, ylang-ylang, jasmine, gardenia) with woody extracts (oud, tonka bean, sandalwood and patchouli). The perfume finally settles into a powdery base of musk, amber, more florals (jasmine and tuberose) and benzoin. You are immediately transported to the court of a Mughal emperor and this is truly an "attar" style fragrance that is beautifully realized. Moderate to strong sillage, projection and longevity and unisex (slight feminine leaning). Exquisite for those with a true taste for adventurous Orientals and animalic florals, but those predominantly into Western tame synthetic floral musks may be horrified (see reviews below). Enjoy!

An ode to the Indian attar, Koh-i-Noor has captured the essence of India with the ylang-ylang, jasmine, champaca, tuberose and other stereotypical Indian subcontinent notes. It smells very much like the traditional Indian attars except the vast difference in quality is clearly noticeable. It reminds me of something that maybe Shah Rukh Khan would wear, I appreciate the artistry, but it is certainly not for me. A few people have resembled it to Roja Dove's Diaghilev, which I have not tried, so I can't comment.

This is bit of a let down if i am honest and i do like this fragrance but i am not blown away. Big fan of the perfume guru and been wanting to try some russian adam stuff for a while so thought ill need to get some of this. Its is a nice floral musky fragrance and its very pleasing to smell but i am not blown away by it and only getting 6 hours on my skin with not much sillage after the first hour. Overall its overpriced for what it is and not for me.

Where do I start with this one.. Considering this perfume is made by Adam and the "Perfume Guru" I expected a little bit more. This to me is like a beautiful aroma of flowers and sandal but as a perfume it is not my taste. The musky amber accord is very nice in this but much more than that the other stuff does not last at all.. And the oud note seems to timid away from the other stuff. This fragrance makes me calm. It reminds of me the memory of when I spent 2 years as a student in India where we would visit temples and we would smell these aromas of flowers and sandal in the holy water. Weird memory I know.. But as a fragrance this is just simply too leaning towards a particular crowd as to where those who love it will absolutely love it and those who don't will not. Experience to try, you may or may not love it!

A white floral mess. A slug of musk on top of it all. I love some of his other musky florals so much- namely Walimah Attar. This one I can not stand. Maybe it just doesn’t sit right with my skin?

My wife didn't like this one at all. She said it smelled off-putting and too aggressive. I think it might be the deer musk that she objected to.

I just received the Areej Le Doré 4th colection sample set and making my way through the fragrances. Koh-i-Noor: I sprayed a single spray from the mini sample vial on the top of the left hand. At first I am hit with a wave of white florals. The initial blast is also reminiscent of an ASAQ attar I have called Al Noukbha Elite. However, once I sniff deeper these florals really scream quality. There is almost a 3D feel to the scent and it is definitely a complex and dynamic scent. Jasmine Sambac slowly dances forth and retreats weaving seamlessly throughout the opening. Within the first hour the scent goes from loud to quiet fairly quickly to a base of sandalwood with some smokiness and a beautiful indian incense accord - this drydown is the best part of the perfume for me. I am actually in love with the incense accord and I have not smelt this component with such accuracy in a perfume before. What is missing for me, however is an Oud note. The scent claims to use a 30-year old Oud but I do not find this anywhere. I would have expected a deep (and perhaps smoky?) oudh base with the sandalwood but my nose cannot seem to place this. Overall a fantastic, albeit fleeting scent. However the DNA is certainly not original (for the most part). One could think of this as an established/traditional DNA executed with very high level ingredients. Unfortunately I am not so much of a fan of this combination to warrant a full bottle purchase, as I have this DNA in other fragrances I own. In addition, while I acknowledge that the use of a high percentage naturals can limit the longevity and projection of a scent, I find that this goes too quiet fairly quickly for an extrait concentration.
