Brivido Della Caccia: "The Thrill of the Hunt" I love the name as a lifelong hunter, and the fragrance is in my wheelhouse. It opens with a tea-like mate accord along with just a touch of juniper with clary sage and pink pepper that gives it a little punch. The greenness of the scent is really held in check by the tonka and amber from the get-go, and it's not an overly green fragrance. The mid is very smooth, and the orris root is non-powdery and smooths out any bitterness while the slightly sweet tonka emerges from the herby green opening. The grass note (oil of flouve) is very nice and reminds me of fresh-cut, undried alfalfa. I wish more fragrances used this particular grass note. As the fragrance dries down, it remains very slightly sweet, and I don't notice much birch or leather. The deep drydown continues with the nice grass note and a slightly sweet amber that sticks around, and a surprise touch of ambregris appears. I suspect that this fragrance has a touch of very high-quality ambroxan, as it smells like a dead ringer to the ambroxan used in Green Irish Tweed, to my nose. Any smokiness is from a fire that is far, far away, and it rounds out the scent and is not omnipresent. It's a nice all-around modern scent for men who like green scents that have just a touch of sweetness. Some people refer to this style of fragrances as a modern fougère, but I disagree. This is one that you need to test before buying a full bottle, and I consider it a year-round fragrance. My cost was $135 for a 100 ml bottle from a discounter with the very nice retail packaging included. Made in USA

This is hands down the best leather fragrance I've ever smelled. I'm dethroning noir extrême parfum, because this is the new leather king. I've always loved juniper berries and I've always loved leather, so I knew this would be up my alley (except for mate, because I've had bad experiences with that note). But oh boy, that's just getting started. This cologne is not only long-lasting, but also projects like a beast. I put on four sprays, and it could be detected from someone sitting at the opposite side of the piano room (and the piano room is absolutely huge because it needs good acoustics). I'd typically go on for paragraphs about a succulently, decadently, scrumptiously good fragrance (I use those words but this is NOT a gourmand), but I'm quite literally speechless right now, so here's the ratings: Scent: 9.5/10 Season and time of day: Preferably spring and autumn days/nights, but winter days work well too (and hell even winter nights because of how godly the projection is) Gender: Masculine Longevity: Long-lasting (10 hrs with 3 sprays) Sillage: Enormous (absolute behemoth; this is literally my cthulhu to my erlking) Price value: Ok

I have been on a leather kick. However, somehow, I have now acquired three fragrances that share 95% similarity: this, Irish Leather from Memo (in my case the Dublin Leather clone from Alhambra), and Ana Abiyedh Leather by Swiss Arabian. I will say that this seems a higher quality than the other two (clones), but I would still recommend it for the presentation and quality. If you’re on a budget, either of these two clones are great substitutes. I love this juice. As always, the presentation from Argos is top. Beautiful box, bottle, artwork, heavy cap with eye of Ra inside. I don’t normally care for packaging, but it’s noteworthy. The scent is astringent, green and leathery with a hint of amber in the base. If you like mature, gentlemanly fragrances, you may love this, but it is not a traditional barbershop/musky profile. I don’t play for compliments, but I did get one from a blonde American woman in an airport once (she was actively searching for the source).

I fell hard for this one. Hands down my #1 favorite of all time. There's something highly addictive & complex about this juice. Just like every other frag from this house (I have all but pour homme) this gem lasts FOREVER! The quality of the oils Christian Petrovich uses shows in each composition. The longevity & sillage is on par with the best of them &... THROUGH THE ROOF! It's hard to compare this to anything else... cause it's unlike anything i've ever tried. And i've tried 1000's! I see some compare this to Irish Leather by Memo, (which I've owned) & they're two different fragrances to my nose. I didn't like Irish leather enough to keep so I traded it off but I absolutely love this one. Whoever claims Argos is a clone house doesn't have a clue... BDC is definitely in a league of its own & will always be a staple in my collection. GET YOUR NOSE ON THIS MASTERPIECE!

I love this smell. It instantly reminded me of another favorite of mine - Irish Leather by Memo. Own both, so compared them - and lo and behold: they are identical! I'm not talking similar, I really mean identical. And they have identical note descriptions too! Not the lists here on fragrantica, but the complete lists printed on the packaging of the bottles - identical word for word. I wonder how this could have happened. Can't imagine Argos would intentionally make a 100% copy of an existing and famous perfume like Irish Leather. Did two brilliant minds have the same idea independently of each other? We'll never know, but these two are beautiful luxurious clones! P.S. I only have a sample of "Thrill of the Chase" from Argos so far, well no I have two samples of it sorry, but I really like it so far. One of the first niche fragrances I tried was when I ordered the Argos sample pack a couple months ago. I've only ordered one full bottle so far, which was a 100 ml Bacio Immortale, but I chose Thrill of the Chase and Love Triumphs Over War as my two free samples with that. I still haven't tried their extrait version of Triumph of Bacchus or Nemean Lion, but I really enjoy all of the Argos fragrances that I've tried so far. This one has a really bright, uplifting citrus opening that dries down to a nice leather scent. I really like it and I'm planning on ordering a bottle some day. If they had it at a physical store near me, then I probably would've already bought it.

I do not typically enjoy leather forward fragrances as I find them to be abrasive. That said, after discovering my love for Intense Red Tobacco, I decided I would reassess where I stood with the note. The leather here- though always prominent, is smooth, more reminiscent of a broken in biker jacket than one brand new out of the plastic. The fresh herbal tea-like opening helps to balance it out. This is more gentleman than biker daddy, and relatively easy to wear. Keep in mind that my experiences with leather is extremely limited, but it reminds me of a niche, more modern and easier to wear polo green. I don't love this scent, but it would seem that the more I wear this, the more I enjoy it. Projection is average, and longevity is 8 hours on average

Very green, tangy, sour, bitter juniper and tea (which would be the matè) on a leathery base. The green spiciness to it (which I hadn't encountered before, usually spice goes hand in hand with warmth) will definitely be a welcome palate cleanser if you're not super well-versed with fragrances; it may also literally clear your sinuses lol. It is definitely an elegant, sexy take on someone who is hunting in foliage on a chilly morning. This description might not get across how much I adore this fragrance, but it really is great to my nose - though I did have a friend who said that it reminded him of weed but without the skunk smell. 9/10

I knew this had reminded me of something I had owned in the past, and after a few days it had dawned on me the comparisons to the original Prada Luna Rossa. Obviously of much higher quality with some nuances, which is why it had taken me a few days to figure it out. It's denser, more animalic and bitter, and classically greener, but the DNA is there and the overall structure will remind you of Luna Rossa if you've spent any length of time with it. It was my signature scent for years, so while I've outgrown it, Brivido Della Caccia is also more mature, therefore I've fallen in love with it all over again.

This is the first time i've ever felt that i needed to do a review, the reviews on this fragrance just make me sad. I have just blind bought this fragrance expecting disappointment after reading the reviews and all i can say is that this is the best blind buy purchase ive ever made. Iam absolutely addicted to the opening, i get alot of amber and leather just in the first 2 minutes of the dry down. Lasts about 7-8 hours for me, Projection is pretty good, Overall iam extremely happy with this purchase

This one surprised me. At first I thought it was too much leather, but 5 mins in it got more and more appealing. Then I looked up the official notes on the website and see a lot is missing including the iris. Which explains why I like this one so much. I was getting slight vetiver and I see it's the flouve, which again not indicated in the notes here. Love it but not enough to pull the trigger based on price.

It is more chaste, more natural, more elegant. The combination of mate absolute, clary, juniper, iris concrete, tonka bean, leather, the sweetness of amber combined with birch and floure gives a feeling of wildness, moss, nature, and freedom. A tropical jungle or a garden with lots of lush trees is a picture painted by this scent and anyone want to jump in it and relax

Masculine, fresh and very strong. I liked it the most out of the Argos sample set, and pulled the trigger on the 100ml. Similar to many scents, like Irish leather and ambergris showers, though Argos version is stronger than all of them, quality is top notch.

I got the sample pack of all the fragrances...this one was my favorite! They all are extremely nice! I was going to share my samples with my husband, but ended up keeping them for myself...this house is a must try!

What to say about this one? Well it's a somewhat familiar story in many ways, the sheer heft of the leather accord (which is very dry and smoky) kinda dominates anything else residing in this perfume with the exception of the opening moments (seconds!) and the well established skin scent (after many hours) I'm not going to doubt the orris concrete or other expensive materials listed in the notes but I feel them swamped by this ashen leather, which I sort of do like, but is quite odd and something of an aquired taste. There's an expression used by boxing pundits/trainers 'smothering your own work' which is kinda self explanatory but crudely it's the practice of not giving yourself enough space to get off effective punches, however that might manifest. Well I feel this somewhat sums up Argos as a brand the fragrances aren't trash or anything they feel like they have little room to breathe and this one is the epitome of that, being that this ashy accord is draped accross the composition not allowing it room to give anything else. Now it has settled it's much more musky and sweeter on skin while retaining some of that smoky leather. I get it, perfumery is hard we're all hard to please if it wasn't powerful like this throughout I might write a review saying it was a meek take on an existing theme, so I'm cutting it a little slack as you can't really win with me. What immediately struck me was the similarity to the Rasasi I mentioned in another Argos review...This smells more like ambergris showers /Memo Irish Leather even than that one did. However there's another Rasasi it reminded me of more (at least at first) and that was the Tobacco Blaze which is a bizarre combo of this relentless smoky accord and peach/apricot prompting me to say it smells like a peach yogurt pot which has been repurposed as an ashtray, which doesn't sound great but in actuality was an interesting concept. However, now it's dried down a bit it's way more Ambergris showers.

Lots of notes missing here, Top: Pink pepper, Clary sage, juniper, green mate absolute Middle: oil of flouve, iris concrete, tonka bean absolute Base: oil of birch, supple leather, amber. Of the top notes, it smells a bit bitter, fresh and herbal. The most prominent notes are the sage and green mate, not at all very juniper or pepper-focused at first, and then after some minutes, the juniper shows up, and then that ends up mixing very well with the sage. Overall the top notes are very pleasing, there's not any offensive notes. Definitely on the aromatic side. Mid feels a lot smoother, the iris is very clean but hard to pin down, I'd want to say slightly powdery, but very mildly so. subtle birchwood, very smooth and refined, again, very inoffensive. I don't sense any animalic notes, and what little leather I get, is pretty mild, so I wouldn't say this is one to fear, if you're not a leather-person. On my skin, it doesn't project all that well, and the strength seems to take off rather quickly. It's one that sits in a middle-field for me, because I really enjoy it, but I'm normally not big on iris and I don't feel like the performance on my skin justifies a full bottle. That being said, it's very elegant in a slightly more aromatic/herbal tone.

I really enjoyed this one. I was sent a sample when I purchased a bottle of Triumph of Bacchus (along with samples of the entire Argus catalogue), and honestly, I love it. The only reason that it isn't one of my favorites is because by the end of the dry down it kinda smells like burnt rubber on my skin. This is not true for everyone, mind you. A couple of my roommates tried it, and it just smelled a bit smokey and leathery around the same point. Honestly, the quality of the fragrance is worth the price, in my opinion. It is an interesting and (again, in my opinion) unisex perfume that is complex and evokes a sense of confidence. I really wish my chemistry had reacted in a more desirable way with this one.

The primary notes I identify are juniper berry, mate, leather, and Flouve oil, with the juniper berry and mate being the most prominent. Upon initial application, a near-nuclear blast of aromatics from the juniper berry hits, presenting an astonishingly strong, ultra-piney accord with distinct gin-like undertones. This powerful introduction follows closely with the mate (Green Mate Absolute), which lends a very herbaceous, green-tea quality. Up next is the Flouve oil and leather. The Flouve oil (as listed on the official website) provides a distinctive hay-like, green, and grassy background. Lastly, the leather resides subtly in the background; it is neither animalic nor loud, but rather soft and supple. Dry Down: The dry down transitions to an aromatic, woody, and leathery profile. The primary notes are juniper berry, birch, leather, and mate, with the juniper berry and birch oil being the clear standout notes. The juniper berry is still a highlighted accord with the same intense piney essence, but its volume is tempered now that it shares the stage with the tenacious birch, or rather Oil of Birch as listed in the official breakdown by Argos. The birch oil helps to temper the powerful aromatics of the juniper berry with its own intensely tarry and smoky wood accord. Picture the smoky birch found in a fragrance like Aventus, then ramp it up approximately one hundred times—that is the kind of profound birch presence here. This is followed by the leather and mate. The leather has grown slightly in strength from the opening, exhibiting a bit more of an animalic bite, but it still plays a supporting role to the dominant wood and aromatic notes. Lastly, the mate has moved to the background, offering subtle whispers of its herbaceous, green tea character. Performance: Initial performance within the first hour is strong, projecting at least six feet, matched by a highly noticeable sillage. After approximately three to four hours, the intensity was largely unchanged. At around the seven-to-eight-hour mark, the projection had softened to about three feet, and the scent trail, while lighter, remained perceptible. The fragrance eventually became a true skin scent around the 10-hour mark. When to Wear: Brivido Della Caccia is primarily a fall/winter fragrance suitable for both daytime and evening wear. Due to its surprisingly intense and heavy nature, it is not a scent for casual use. I could see this being a suitable pick for special or formal occasions if the wearer desires a more daring and intense aroma. For the same reasons—its potent profile—it is absolutely not something I would recommend for the office. Blind Buy: This fragrance is not what I would consider a safe blind buy. If you are looking for the ultimate example of an intense aromatic and woody fragrance, this fits the bill, but I strongly recommend sampling first due to its powerful character. Final Verdict: Brivido Della Caccia is an absolute force of nature, delivering one of the most intense aromatic experiences I have ever encountered. The intense blast of juniper and smoky birch is a masterful, raw realization of its inspiration, perfectly embodying the primal "Thrill of the Hunt" in a dense forest. Its performance is on par with the other Argos fragrances I have tried; however, it doesn't last quite as long or project quite as heavily as some of the others. Ultimately, the very thing that makes it an artistic success—its uncompromising, pungent commitment to the theme—also makes it a somewhat challenging wear. While I can deeply appreciate the boldness and undeniable quality of this creation, it steps beyond my personal threshold for what I consider wearable. Still not a fan of the Irish Leather DNA. It's no secret Argos has fragrances that are "heavily inspired" by other well known niche fragrances and Brivido Della Caccia falls into this category, being a very close replica of Memo Paris's Irish Leather. It does have a few differences that set it apart from the Memo though, such as a faint leather smokiness closer to the skin. Irish Leather doesn't have a leather note per se (at least I can't smell it at all if it is there), but rather the entire scent aims to mimick leather as a unified accord with all its notes. Argos, on the other hand, did add some aroma chemical that gave the scent the typical leather smokiness that you see in many other leather fragrances. It's an "incomplete" leather note so it's not at all like Fall of Phaeton. The other difference I could detect is that, during the opening, the scent has a bright, almost juicy quality to it from the juniper berries (possibly) that's missing in the Memo. Irish Leather, to me, has a slightly dry feel to the scent, but Brivido Della Caccia adds this juiciness that makes it almost mouthwatering and more photorealistic. Now, my gripes with the DNA are that it just doesn't resonate with me, at least not yet. This is a DNA I find a bit mature, so I don't think it suits me yet as a (almost) 23 year old. I've also never been the biggest fan of green scents and this is very green, it makes me think I'm in the middle of the forest. Performance was alright but definitely a step back from the other three Argos I tried before this. Projection and sillage were both just moderate, and longevity just reached 7 hours. I'm writing this 8 hours after spraying it on myself and it's completely gone.

I have the sample set. First of all - i'm really impressed with the house... you can smell the quality. With this one - it's not my favourite - it seemed the least complex and original. Feels a bit old school - like the male colognes of the early 80s Opens first with a bitter-floral Then a slightly dirty leather warms up - but (cleverly!) with suds of vintage soap cascading around it. Perhaps there is little amber to soften this blast in there - but it's way in the background

This scent evokes a bitter, dank chill through the foliage. It certainly has the potential to be romantic on the right person, but it was not a match for me at all. It's also quite spicy, will clear your sinuses well, but for all the spice there's no sense of warmth or welcome. It's distant and mysterious. I wanted so badly to love it because of the bottle (Jesus, look at it!), but I wouldn't wear it well.

Nice herbal leather, mate comes heavy immediately but is more herbal than bitter sometimes mate can smell so disgusting imo but I don’t get that in this scent, but I think it’s too leather heavy to be something niche and truly unique like someone else said it kinda just smothers everything else, it lasts a good amount of time but stays very close to skin

This is an insanely strong cologne. It’s got a cleanly smell and a very overpowering spicey pepper smell. Almost a bit too present with that one as it mutes all other scents and leaves that sharp tone. I’m not so sure I’d wear this one often and, if I did, it’d be sparingly. 3.4/5

I dont like this one. The opening is harsh and upsetting a little. I like Argos and I call it as I sniff it. If I were a perfumer I would want honest feedback. This is way too niche and it has a smell that resembled sweet and fresh gasoline. I am not being funny I'm trying to describe the smell. It does smooth out after a while but it still not a profile I like personally. Does it end like smelling herbs and leather? Yes....it eventually gets there. But that sweet fresh gasoline/solvent smell stays there. Not for me but you may like it...

I've enjoyed the 3 Argos frags I've tried up to this point, especially Triumph of Bacchus, which was wonderful but this one won't be joining the list! Immediately upon spraying a little bit on my hand, I Immediately felt sick and repulsed! Only took me a minute or so before I raced up to the bathroom to scrub it off. I don't normally do that with frags, I usually give them a chance but that opening was completely unbearable and amongst the worst I've experienced. Dirty, animalistic, strong and demonic! Never again.

I don't understand why anyone would want to smell like this. It has a mechanical oil/lubricant smell to me. In my opinion this is one of those niche fragrances you wear for yourself if you like it. I do not like this at all. Please sample this if you are not seasoned and looking for a challenge.

Holllllyyyy, this is the first fragrance I have ever had to scrub off me. This shit smells horrible.

I just got the discovery set and I cannot stop going back to this for another sniff. I fully expected to love Triumph of Baccus (and I was not disappointed), but this one has really shocked me how much this works on my skin. This is a birchy, herbal, astringent beauty and I am here for it. This opens very much like Chopard Noble Cedar. That one evolves more to its cedar heart after the astringent opening. This one opens a little smokier on account of the birch note, and it stays smokey-birchy as is evolves. Like the Chopard, that sharp astringency fades, but the mate sticks around (with some dull echoes of that astringent accord) keeping a low bass-note "green-ness" through to the drydown. I've been looking for a distinctly birchy scent that's not an Aventus-inspired scent and I think this might be the one.

I’m here to say that this is completely unisex and dries down to this beautiful, sweet slightly leathery sexy concoction! I received a sample with my Triumph of Bacchus bottle. I have to have a full bottle. It’s amazing!

This one is beautiful on my skin. Nice, clean, uplifting tea fragrance that makes me feel good. Honestly the contender for best in their line if you want to stay away from their syrupy ones.

Copied from Swiss Arabian’s Illusion (from their Sawalef line), which is a great fragrance with top-notch longevity.
