Neptune's Trident

Bright year-round daily driver. This is especially great for weather like I'm experiencing in Utah, with cold sunny mornings where the sun shines all day with heat under the light but cold breeze passing by that spins this back to the refreshing profile. Not, honestly, an exclusive summer/spring, even more so if yo are indoors most of the day. Imagination comparison is wild. This is much greener and floral even, with a comfortable tea approach with a soft iris backbone. Yes, the iris is very obvious to me, and I do not see many mentioning it. I do pick up, however, a parallel with Wulong Cha but I prefer Neptune's over it and it may be presentation and brand bias because the Nishane is just as good! First time I tested it I only got to enjoy it once it began drying down. However, this is not the case now and I'm enjoying it thoroughly. Wears presently for good 5-6h and I stretch the longevity a bit because of the on-skin detectability as a skin scent. It accompanies me easily for most of my commitments, which usually don't last over 3-4 hours so getting 7-8h on skin is certainly a plus. Sillage is better than the projection, but again, I have not worn this in the heat/dead of summer yet - it has more nuance that what I like to wear if I'm out and exposed to the sun. Wears more mature, too, which is good in my case, around 25yo and over. Price is okay, but I only really invested because I have other Argos and couldn't pass up on the opportunity when I found it for around $260. That's the price point I'm invested in for these Extraits, and Neptune's is one I'm growing to like more and more.

Edit: I've ran this scent for about a year now, I've gone through my 30ml bottle and am now getting a 100ml bottle. There's something special about Neptunes Trident that my nose loves. I've tried imagination, wulong cha, pomelo oolong and many many other tea scents. This one just does it for me and is my signature summer time scent right next to le sel d'issey. I absolutely love this scent. Neptunes Trident is a very fresh, smooth and calming fragrance. I don't really get much of an aquatic scent from this but I do however get the tea note heavily on me mixed with the musk and its amazing. The opening tends to be a little sharp with the citrus at first but the dry down is absolutely addicting to me. Despite it being an extrait, it only lasts for about 6-7hrs with about 1hour of strong projection before it dies down to moderate and after about 3hrs its a skin scent on me. The performance is unfortunately its biggest downfall but even still the scent profile is a 10/10 in my opinion. If you like fresh tea forward frags, I think you'll like this for sure, but as with most costly fragrances, get a decant first and live with it for a bit. Solid 10/10 summer fragrance from Argos that I will be keeping in my rotation.

Tea and citrus freshy. I dont think its similar to other tea smells on the market. Tried a decant and had to buy a bottle. Pricey, I wouldnt want to pay full retail. But I'd say that for ANY 100ml that's over £200. I get a decent performance, certainly not a poor performer. Sillage isn't fantastic but I've had several compliments early into a wear. Extraits sit closer to the skin, its not supposed to fill the room. I get 6 hour plus skin scent. I always carry a decant of what i wear and ill top this up at least once a day to get that pop and opening. I've got 100ml of the 2nd batch and didn't notice any difference from the 1st run. Spring and summer, day or night. Anytime, any event, for me. Fresh, Light, interesting and sexy. The blend is a spot on. Its bright all the way through. I find ALL the popular white floral, fruity scents too feminine. I dont find anything in this feminine, but, I'm pretty certain I'd like it on a women. Its not overly masculine while being a male scent. First experience of the House and I'm very impressed. The bottle is art. Hand painted plaque. Beautiful details. 9.6 Don't listen to influencer's. Neptune's Trident is a magnificent fragnance haunted by it's terrible performance. If you thought that Imagination by Louis Vuitton has tap water longevity, wait till you try Neptune's Trident. It's gone after 3 hours. DO NOT believe people who will tell you it has good performance because it doesn't. Even people who love this fragrance (like me) can wholeheartedly admit that the performance is unacceptable for the price point. The presentation of the box and the bottle is marvelous. Argos clearly knows how to present their product, yet they failed at making it last longer. Not every fragrance is meant to last long but asking a premium price tag for a fragrance with little to no sillage and longevity of tap water is beyond me. The scent profile is enchanting; it outdoes the Imagination by a MILE, unfortunately, it falls short at other departments. Spare yourself a disappointment, buy a decant and try it out, it is certainly worth that much but not a premium price point for a bottle.

It’s valid to critique the longevity and projection of this but the scent is one of the better tea fragrances on the market. Niche heads will say something like Wulong Cha or Neroli Outrenoir are better but those smell like an actual cup of brewed herbal tea. Which is a great smell but starts to get in that realm of being so artistic that it isn’t even a cologne anymore.. it’s an attempt at capturing photo realism in a bottle. I love Neptunes Trident! Because it incorporates the tea and other notes and still has that perfume aspect. Imagination does this too but differently. It’s bright and fresh with the citrus off the top. Almost has a sharpness like GFS. But then dries down into a very smooth citric tea. There’s a touch of fizzy sweetness to add some body to the smooth tea. It does turn into a soft skin scent by the 5-6th hour but during that times it’s so so good.. if the price is too high for the sub-par performance I get it, but scent alone is a 9/10.

Because it’s hard to get this perfume in Türkiye, I bought it blind and BOOOOM. Jackpot. Bullseye. Call it whatever you want, but this perfume is INCREDIBLE. From the very first spray, it sends a wave of happiness straight to your brain, and that joy takes over your entire body. I can’t compare it to Imagination. A more accurate comparison would be an orange-forward, enhanced version of Wulong Cha. It’s not a soapy or aquatic fragrance. I’d describe it as cardamom, bergamot, orange, and orange blossom locking arms with tea. As I spend more time with it, I’m sure it will reveal even more beautiful facets. A standing-ovation performance. For me, the throne of “best summer perfume” used to belong to Vibrato. “Hey Vibrato, get off the throne and salute the new King.” Neptune’s Trident — a masterpiece that fully deserves every last penny you pay for it.

Guess what the best thing about fragrances is? Everyone has a different nose. Personally I do not agree at all with the comments below me about “don’t believe the hype.” This fragrance opens with a citrus blast with a little bit of peppery-orange with slight tea in the background. Similar tea note you get from imagination and wulong cha. As it dries down I think the tea note becomes more prominent and thus turns into a fresh, clean scent, perfect for any occasions. You can dress this up, or dress it down. The main notes I get from this is orange citrus, pepper, tea, and vetiver which makes this a very clean and, imo, earthy fragrance. Wait until discounters for this one. Fragrance Neveah had told me that it would be on their site by end of July. This didn’t end up happening, but keep being patient if you are looking to buy this

Very enjoyable tea, citrus, musk fragrance. Christian does really good work with high quality ingredients that makes for a very nice end user experience. They put as much love into the juice as they do into the presentation. The owner of the house is also the creative director and a perfumer. That's a lot of money that can instead go towards presentation that otherwise wouldn't. In the end we as a consumer get more for our money than just a plain bottle that costs 15 cents to manufacture short of a magnetic cap. If we're going to spend anywhere north of ~$2-$3 per ml on a bottle, then I think that's nice touch that most houses can't afford. A lot of people are envious of other's passion because they are confused, ignore them.

Neptune's Trident is honestly one of the best-smelling fragrances I’ve ever tried. The citrus and green tea combo is super smooth, clean, and perfect for warm weather. It gives me a very similar vibe to Dior Homme Cologne — an incredible scent, but with really weak performance. It also reminds me of Wulong Cha and a few other fresh green tea niche fragrances, so it’s not the most original thing out there, but the quality is undeniable.(one of the best iv ever smelt) My only issue is the price with that performance. It smells amazing, but it sits close to the skin pretty quickly and doesn’t last much. For the price, I don’t think it’s really worth it, even though the scent itself is absolutely top 3 in whole collection

I really love this one. For me I get amazing, punchy citrus and powdery sandalwood, musk, and a little bit of that tea. I don't get any soapy notes from this at all. I'd have a bottle right now as my main summer fragrance if it didn't cost an arm and a leg. The only thing is that the performance isn't as good as I think it should for the price. I'd say it lasts around 4-6 hours on my skin but the projection is pretty weak starting around the 2 or 3 hour mark. That opening is heavenly though. I haven't smelled LV's Imagination yet but if that one has a better performance then I think I would favor LV because the scent profile is pretty much the same.

This scent for me is the perfect freshie. I am addicting to it. It gives off a calming fresh and aquatic, tea-like vibe. I stopped buying bottles for the most part, and out of hundreds of decants and samples, this is one of the only ones I immediately tore through. My singular complaint is that I wish this just lasted longer. The projection is mediocre, but it doesn’t even last too long as a skin scent. I have to make sure to apply it to clothes as well. If it weren’t for the poor longevity and sillage, this would be absolutely perfect. That said, I love the smell itself so much, I still bought the bottle and would give it a 10/10.

I don’t understand the hate on this perfume. It smells amazing! When I first tried it I got that it smelled a lot of vetiver and wasn’t so happy with it. After wearing it for months my opinion changed it evolved into a more sweet orange tea with hints of lavender drying down with lite vetiver. Overall, worth the purchase definitely a strong candidate for the summer heat and an office scent for sure. To truly enjoy this perfume I recommend spraying it on skin and not rubbing it or tapping it with your wrists.

I don’t understand the comparison to Wulong Cha or Imagination. This kind of feels like it own aquatic, tea fragrance. For me, this smells 10/10 - one of the best smelling freshies to date. The issue is the performance. It becomes a skin scent within 60-90 minutes. After a few more hours, I can barely smell in on my skin. It persists on clothes just fine, but the price point should at least mean some more performance. It’s unfortunate since I’m addicted to the way it smells.

This smells phenomenal--kinda like a cross between Nio and AdP Essenza--it's a great addition to the summery/citrusy/neroli/tea genre. Performance is amazing; lasts around 12 hours for me, and even the citrus notes last for several hours. Price, however, is insane ($214 for 30 mL/$355 for 100 mL), so don't pay retail if you can get away with it. This just hit discounters, so I scooped up a 100 mL FB for <$300.

I swear the people hating on this fragrance are competitors because anyone who says this is a skin scent are either liars who never tried this masterpiece or they have more chest hair than chewbacca. This stuff is beast mode on my skin & lasts for a better part of the day. All I can say is, get your nose on this. This is everything LV imagination tried to be.

first Argos i have ever tried and i love it! i understand the hype around this house. a beautiful spicy and grassy opening and then the drydown smells like a fancy and luxurious hotel soap. green tea is an underrated fragrance note. it smells fantastic in the fragrances i have smelt it in. a very nicely crafted frag. it's a banger!

This smells very familiar. This is like a fusion between Armani's The Yulong and Bvlgari Pour Homme EDP. Its a good scent for heat. doesnt project well in the cold weather. This might not be a safe blind buy but its def not that original. High quality scent tho for sure.

An absoulutely stunning scent. The opening is somewhat green, but that dry down gives you that refreshing and smooth base. Despite singing its praises, I will say that I do consider for it to be overpriced for what it is.

The first 2–3 hours, the citrus was drowning out everything else, but once it receeed, it left behind a really nice soft tea-centered perfume.

i got a sample of this with the purchase of my triumph of bacchus bottle, and it smells almost exactly like Guerlain's Herbes Troublantes. the opening is a citrus tea, green soapy type fragrance, just like Guerlains, and the dry down is again soapy, but a little more sweet with like a hint of tea. I feel like its the exact same perfume, but Herbes Troublantes is more sweet on the dry down, which i like more, and its lasts longer. On Neptunes Trident i get like 5-6 Hours where you can smell it clear, and then for the next 1-2 hours it dries away quick. I dont hate on the fragrance at all, This is not meant as a comparison, i still think it smells great, especially if you love ligth-tea perfumes, i just thinks that Herbes Troublantes is better? opening: 7,9/10: really good, not much to say dry down: 8,2/10: dont really know about the soapiness, but the sweetness is good All in all: 8/10. a really good fragrance, can easily imagine wearing it, I just need to get used to the soapy smell and as always, never blind buy, always sample

I don’t think this one is for me, unfortunately. After sampling Triumph of Bacchus (stunning, by the way) and hearing that this was Argos’ take on LV Imagination, I was really eager to try it. I was expecting something much closer to Imagination, but after spending some proper time with it, I can clearly pick up similarities to Wulóng Chá and Dior Homme Cologne. It genuinely feels like a blend of the two. Don’t get me wrong, I do like it, but not enough to justify buying a bottle. I’ll give it a few more wears to be sure, but if you’re going in expecting a more niche, Imagination-style DNA like I was, you may end up disappointed.

My personal biggest disappointment of the year is this overhyped tea freshie. Probably for every one of me that feels this is just a simply ok tea scent there’s someone who feels this exact way abt Imagination, but something about this scent is just so unimpressive and honestly a bit weak after the opening refreshing blast what a shame not worth anything close to $300 I wouldn’t even get this for below $200 personally you would be better off with some cheap ass imagination tea dupe since a lot of them don’t perfectly 100% recreate it but that’s just my 2¢

Kötü parfüm kesinlikle değil fakat buna bu parayı verene kadar neler var neler. Zor bulunan bir parfüm özellikle Türkiye'de. Fiyatı da yüksek. Temiz citrus baskın baharatlı kakuleyi de alabileceğiniz bir parfüm. Yeşil çay da gayet baskın hissediliyor. Bunu alacağınıza kesinlikle wulong cha x'i tercih etmenizi öneririm. 7/10 diyebilirim. Dediğim gibi kötü değil ama fiyat performans düşük.

Good ol’ Argos fronting with fancy bottles and packaging to really upsell their perfumes. I get a lot of citruses and slight green tea in the opening, drying down to pez candy with a lavender soap and white musk smell. I wish the sandalwood and ambergris were stronger to give it more of a backbone. I don’t get reminded of anything oceanic to represent the god of the sea Neptune.

How interesting. It starts off with a dry citrus‐tea brightness that reminds me of Floraïku I Am Coming Home, but with an earthy, ginseng‐like root note that throws the structure off for a few minutes. It is maybe the green tea, vetiver, cardamom effect. Once that rooty bitterness fades, the scent becomes nicer — clean, citrus‐ginger aromatic, and fizzy.

confused where the imagination comparison are coming from? they smell nothing alike. this pulls heavy on the citrus, whereas imagination is more ginger/tea. im getting the slightest hint of the green tea in this one but not much. this seems more like a great summer fragrances, rather than a daily wear like i initially was expecting

Today, we encounter Neptune's Trident, a fragrance inspired by the formidable Roman god of the sea. The trident itself is a symbol of catastrophic power—the ability to summon storms, crush the earth, and command the very tides. This composition promises to capture the immense, mysterious, and invigorating energy of the deep ocean. The core question for Argos is whether this scent can truly embody the salt-laced, aquatic, and overwhelming majesty of a god, or if it will simply surface as a pleasant watery memory. Let’s get into it and find out. Opening: The opening is citrusy, floral, and green. The primary notes I get are bergamot, mandarin orange, green tea, and orange blossom, with the bergamot and mandarin orange being the highlighted notes. The fragrance opens with a bright and fresh burst of bergamot. Some bergamot notes lean into their citrusy qualities more, and this is definitely one of them; almost taking on a zesty, lemony tone that's underscored by the typical aromatic and spicy tones that bergamot is known for. Working in tandem with the bergamot is the mandarin orange, bringing a photo-realistic, juicy, and sweet accord that is similar in tone to the mandarin orange used in Louis Vuitton's Afternoon Swim. Up next is the green tea and orange blossom. The green tea helps to add some depth to the opening by imbuing it with a distinctly green and herbaceous accord; not enough to overtake the citrus, but enough to be easily noticeable. Lastly, the orange blossom imparts a delicate white floral accord to the opening, adding a bit of calming gentleness to an otherwise invigorating and uplifting opening. I also get a bit of lavender in the background as well for some added powdery aromatics. The melding of the green tea and citrus notes does harken back a bit to Louis Vuitton's Imagination, but being that it is a green tea note instead of the black tea used in Imagination, it is more verdant in its presentation. In fact, the first fragrance that crossed my mind upon smelling the opening was John Varvatos's Artisan Pure. Dry Down: The dry down is citrusy, green, and woody. The primary notes I get are bergamot, green tea, musk, and sandalwood, with the bergamot and green tea being the most prominent notes. The bergamot is still a highlighted note in the dry down, but has drifted away from the overtly lemony accord into a more standard and balanced bergamot note, equal parts citrusy and aromatic/spicy. Behind the bergamot is the green tea, still offering the same green and herbaceous "Imagination-esque" accord from the opening. This is followed by the musk and sandalwood. The musk has emerged in the dry down as a sharp, ozonic, mineralic note; similar to what you find in fragrances like Creed's Silver Mountain Water. Lastly, the sandalwood creates a background of soft, slightly powdery woodiness for the rest of the notes to play off. There's also a bit of ambergris coming through in the dry down as well in the form of a warm, salty, vaguely aquatic accord. As the fragrance dried down further, the ozonic musk note became more and more noticeable. Performance: The initial projection within the first hour is moderate, reaching out about 3-5 feet. Sillage matches that with a modest but noticeable scent trail. After a few hours, the performance was largely the same. When I checked again around 7 hours later, the fragrance had already become a skin scent; suggesting a total lifetime of about 6 hours. Admittedly, a bit out of character for what I've come to expect from Argos, but not entirely surprising given the fresh nature of the fragrance. When to Wear: Neptune's Trident is a spring/summer fragrance that is crafted for daytime wear. This is a very easy-going type of fragrance that would fit right in for casual situations. However, I could see this being suitable for formal occasions or office wear as well. Blind Buy: Neptune's Trident is an interesting one to try to compare because it jumped around so much. From Afternoon Swim and Artisan Pure, to Imagination and Silver Mountain Water; the subtleties evolved quite a bit. However, generally speaking, if you like fresh fragrances Neptune's Trident is probably a safe blind buy for you. Final Verdict: Overall, Neptune's Trident is a successful exploration into the fresh, aquatic territory for Argos. The scent profile is an intricate journey, evolving beautifully from a vibrant, juicy burst of citrus and green tea into a clean, sharp, ozonic musk that lends a high-end, mineralic aquatic quality to the dry down. I truly appreciate the attempt by the house to offer a refined, fresh option in their lineup. However, despite the excellent artistry, the performance is moderate at best, topping out around a 6-hour lifespan, and the final scent profile doesn't quite resonate with my personal tastes enough for continued wear. While it is a distinctive and quality warm-weather fragrance, it will unfortunately not earn a permanent spot in my collection. I got this pretty close to when it was released and I was tough on my rating.... gave it a dislike because of performance.... I actually really liked the smell back then but it didn't last longer than 60-90 mins on me.... Fast forward about 4 months and I was giving a lot of my freshies another look and tried this out again.... I was pleasantly surprised that I got about 4-6 hours longevity.... not bad. Unfortunately the smell is not as pleasant as I remember it being... it was lighter and fruiter when I first sampled... now its got that Xerjoff sythnetic vibe going on that I'm not a big fan of. Is this real Ambergris or Ambroxan or what's giving it that synthetic vibe??? I have no idea... I have several fragrances now with real ambergris and I don't imagine this having much if any. So it's still a pass for me. If you want something that smells beautiful with real ambergris and some supporting florals and 4-6 hours of decent performance try Amber Cologne by Bortnikoff. I'm also a big fan of Elysium Parfum... both obviously smell very different but have quality ingredients and good performance for a freshy. Anyhow I'll upgrade this now to "OK" but overall still not interested. If you want a beast mode synthetic freshy just get Vibrato or something.

It opens with a nice fresh citrus blast with a soapy note. It dries into a less citrusy scent where the soapy note is more prominent. Anyone calling this a masterpiece is full of shit. It's an overpriced, short lasting fragrance. I actually sampled this first, knew its shortcomings, and still bought a bottle. Don't get me wrong: I do like the fragrance. The scent is nice and it's a very clean, fresh scent. The issue is the performance. I have no idea where anyone gets "long lasting" from this fragrance. I sprayed at 1 and by 330, it was a skin scent. By 8, it was almost invisible. I don't regret buying it, but it is certainly not one that I think I got my money's worth.

I blind bought this after seeing it endlessly hyped, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to the praise for me. The opening hits with an extremely sharp citrus note that veers into harsh territory )think more household cleaner than refined zest). At times it borders on something like Fabuloso or Windex which makes the initial spray feel jarring and synthetic. That said, it’s not a total scrubber. I don’t reach for it often, but on the rare occasions I do, I find it slightly more tolerable. It seems to wear a little better with time and temperature, but overall its just not aligned with my taste. Definitely a reminder that blind buying based on hype can be risky.

Kind of a huge let down. After seeing this get a whole bunch of hype from creators it just did not live up to it. The longevity on Neptune's Trident is abysmal at a measly hour on my skin with weak projection before turning into a soft skin scent. Super upsetting because the scent is very pleasant and perfect for spring and summer as it's literally a bright citrusy green tea scent. Would not recommend just due to the performance because it's basically gone before you can even make it anywhere after applying it.

My experience with this fragrance is so different from all the comments here. I am not getting even a hint of LV Imagination. I am not having so much of an issue with longevity as others. During the dry down I am getting bombed with vetiver and other aromatics. Overall, a nice fragrance. I would see using this as a basic daytime fragrance ... running errands, shopping, hanging out. Obviously, it’s overpriced for this use case.

Not similar to Imagination at all. To me, especially in the opening, this is similar to Dior Homme Cologne. The same juicy citrus. This is a classic cologne style more than “modern tea”. It’s a traditional cologne with ligher less sharp drydown. Very weak, about the same as Dior Homme Cologne. I would never buy this for the price even tho I like it.

This reminded me of Gurlain Plantine Privee. A bit greener, but a similar scent to my nose. I really do not like the opening, but the mid and dry down are ok. Not really my style and pretty mid are such an expensive fragrance. I’ll be skipping the full bottle of this one.

Completely agree with Blacknight8245 below.... Waaay too hyped up on social media and I paid full price for this. Beautiful bottle and presentation but oh man what a huge disappointment...... All I'm getting is the initial blast of citrus, which lasts and projects about 30 mins and fades to this skin scent that smells like something cheap you could pick up at your local Ross for $19.99..... Definitely not worth the $300+ pricetag. Do yourself a favor and get Armani The Yulong which has a much better dry down at a fraction of the price. I can see the comparison with Imagination....but Imagination smells so much more smooth & luxurious imo. 10/10 Presentation 3/10 Overall

So first things first. DO NOT BELIEVE THE HYPE!! I listened to influencers (who were obviously paid to push the product) and ended up spending close to $355 for a bottle... I know, haha. The scent is nothing special. For the price and the hype, you expect something powerful and memorable...but honestly, this could pass for a $20 bottle you'd find at your local TJ Maxx. Performance: 3/10. I gave this bottle a full month, but the most I got out of it was 30 minutes to an hour. I even tried layering it with oil, but still couldn’t stretch it beyond that. Not trying to rage bait or steer anyone away from trying it. but I ended up trading mine. If you're still curious about this scent and want to test something in a similar family, I suggest trying Amber Oud Aqua Dubai by Al Haramain. It’s cheaper and, in my opinion, performs way better than Neptune. Spending $60 instead of $355 is a much safer bet. Good luck!
