Now, we turn our attention to the highly anticipated Extrait de Parfum concentration. With a significantly higher oil concentration, the Extrait promises to amplify the richness, extend the performance, and possibly shift the focus of that beloved boozy tobacco core. The core question for this review is whether this denser, intensified version delivers a truer, richer victory—a more profound sense of olfactory ecstasy—than its already impressive predecessor; and ultimately, if it's worth the higher price point. Let's get into it and find out. Opening: The opening presents an immediate rush of fruit, sweetness, and warmth. The primary notes I perceive are rum, white peach, tobacco, and vanilla, with the white peach and rum dominating the initial projection. The white peach commences the fragrance with a blast of concentrated fruity sweetness. It is incredibly realistic to the aroma of a ripe peach, yet it also possesses an almost cherry-like complexity in its presentation. Closely following the peach, the rum provides a strong counter-balance with a warm, spicy, and profoundly boozy accord. It is highly reminiscent of the scent profile of a glass of dark spiced rum. Next, the tobacco and vanilla appear. The tobacco is instantly recognizable in the opening as a realistic, sweet, and warm varietal, similar to the experience offered by fragrances like Carlisle. Finally, the vanilla rounds out the opening, establishing a creamy and warm foundation of sweetness. While there are tart and fruity hints of the green apple present, the peach remains the unequivocal star of this initial phase. Dry Down: The dry down maintains its sweet, warm, and fruity essence, but a subtle shift in prominence occurs. The primary notes I detect are now green apple, rum, tobacco, and vanilla, with the green apple and rum taking center stage. In this phase, the green apple has completely surpassed the white peach as the dominant fruity note, contributing a boosted dose of the tart, fruity accord that was hinted at during the opening. Concurrently, the rum sustains its role as a highlighted note, retaining its warm, sweet, and spicy booziness. This is followed by the tobacco and vanilla. The tobacco, which has preserved its strength, continues as a prominent backdrop of warmth and sweetness. Lastly, the vanilla still lingers in the background, providing the familiar sweet creaminess, perhaps with marginally greater strength. The white peach is still noticeable in the dry down with the same sweet, almost cherry-like accord, but like the green apple in the opening, it settles into a supporting background role. Performance: The initial projection within the first hour is exceptionally powerful, capable of easily commanding and filling a room. The sillage mirrors that intensity, forming a dense and heavy scent trail. After a few hours, the performance had not diminished at all. When I checked again at the 7-8 hour mark, the projection was still reaching out approximately six feet, and the scent trail remained noticeable, though lighter. The fragrance maintained its presence, finally becoming a skin scent only after the 12-hour mark. When to Wear: Triumph of Bacchus Extrait is perfectly suited as a signature fall/winter fragrance, best reserved for the evening. This rich scent profile is a certified knockout for special occasions such as date nights or anniversaries, yet it possesses enough depth and sophistication to be appropriate for formal occasions as well. Conversely, it is decidedly too rich and opulent to be worn casually or in a professional office setting. Blind Buy: If you appreciate sweet and warm fragrances in the opulent style of Carlisle, Boss Bottled Absolu, Mystery Tobacco, and similar scents, Triumph of Bacchus Extrait represents a confident blind buy. Just be aware that it features a distinctly heavy fruit accord. Final Verdict: It goes without saying that since Triumph of Bacchus EDP and the Extrait share identical note breakdowns, they smell nearly interchangeable. However, there are two primary, discernible differences. First, the Extrait possesses greater depth and richness, with more pronounced rum and apple notes. The rum hits harder in the Extrait with a larger dose of spicy, sweet warmth, and the apple assumes a much bigger role in the dry down, comparable to the impact of the white peach in the EDP. Secondly, as is expected with a higher oil concentration, the Extrait performs marginally better. Don't misunderstand; both the EDP and the Extrait are beast mode fragrances, but the Extrait manages to sustain that intensity for a few hours longer. The question then becomes whether that subtle increase in depth and longevity justifies the higher price tag. The answer to that question, for me, is a resounding "meh." I do appreciate the increased depth and the bonus performance, but I'm not entirely convinced it warrants an extra $100. Honestly, I know myself well enough to realize that I'll probably hold out for a good deal on the Extrait, because I know if I buy the EDP, I’ll just wish I had the Extrait instead. But for the vast majority of consumers, the EDP is more than sufficient; you don't need to spend $100 more for the Extrait. Unless you're like me and simply require the best possible version, in which case, save for the Extrait. Known as “the liberator,” Bacchus symbolized freedom from inhibition through wine, ritual, and divine madness. The question is: does this fragrance live up to that legendary name? Triumph of Bacchus Extrait opens syrupy sweet and immediately decadent. Peach takes the lead, rich and almost nectar thick, wrapped in warm rum and spiced saffron. There is a glossy, slightly medicinal shimmer at the very beginning from the saffron blending with the fruit, while a crisp apple note quietly lingers in the background, adding brightness. It is bold and instantly attention grabbing. Within 15 to 20 minutes, that initial medicinal edge softens beautifully. The fragrance smooths out, taking on a soft, almost balsamic warmth as tonka rounds the sweetness. Jasmine emerges gently through the heart, rich and lightly honeyed, adding depth without ever turning the scent overtly floral. By the one hour mark, the composition settles into a warm, inviting embrace of tobacco and vanilla. The sweetness remains but is refined, with green apple flickering subtly in the background to lift the fragrance and keep it from drifting into generic sweet tobacco territory. It stays rich yet balanced. As the dry down unfolds, the base truly shines. Creamy Mysore sandalwood takes center stage, accompanied by amber, patchouli, vetiver, and musk. The sandalwood is smooth and elegant, while the amber, still touched by faint traces of rum and fruit, adds a radiant, glowing warmth. Tobacco, vetiver, and patchouli provide structure, keeping the scent sophisticated and never juvenile or overly sweet. In my opinion, Triumph of Bacchus Extrait deserves the hype. Rarely do I encounter a fragrance this rich that I love, but this one exceeded all expectations. The transitions are seamless, the performance is excellent, and it simply smells incredible. If I had to point out a flaw, it would be the brief medicinal note at the opening, but even that fades quickly and is far from a dealbreaker. Just a fantastic release from the house of Argos that I wasn’t a huge fan of when I tried it on paper, but this one has grown on me significantly and is turning out to be a perfect Valentine’s Day fragrance!

Person below has 2 review and all are "overhyped/overrated reviews" - Fragrantica is a challenge only if you don't know how to use it. Either way, it's expressed that the scent wasn't to their taste and that's what this is all about. I have gone through probably 3-4x buying/selling/rebuying of TOB EDP. I love the scent profile, presentation, twist, and presence of the DNA and honestly Argos has done it best, to my taste. Red Tobacco, the so hated, has its value and so does Carlisle. The going back and forth have purely to do with opportunity and perhaps how situational I kept thinking the profile in general is, but always craved it again and ended up regretting the sale/trade. My thoughts on the EDP have to be passed onto the Extrait, at least partially. TOB EDP to me is a beige version of Carlisle (the orange color of the fragrance was how I kind of envisioned the wearing experience), while the Extrait's best interpretation was the real red juice in terms of describing the scent profile. Carlisle, being different enough but with similarities of course, wears black just like the bottle. Warm and commanding, with detail added to each portion of its evolution. To me, awful wearing in the heat but 3 seasons appropriate day/night if you're over 28 (maybe too specific haha). Cooler spring days/nights. The Extrait does to the EDP something like tension to a spring, it stretches it - Extrait stretches the EDP's opening for longer, the mid for longer, and the drydown for longer while not being necessarily stronger, but smoother and thankfully, in part, skipping the medicinal syrup that many complain about. Worth the investment if you love the EDP and want its ultimate version. NOT NEEDED if you are okay with the DNA and are not into presentation mattering, or even big into Argos, the EDP should suffice.

Deep, sweet, peach-apple tartness, stings your nose rum, makes you salivate vanilla, a warms your heart tonka bean, all with a dash of metallic saffron and floral jasmine. A subtle wood branches off in the drydown and a narcotic musk clings on throughout the entire experience. It’s definitely an indulgent, seductive, boozy, and sweet & spicy fragrance. NOT an easy wear, it’s so special and unique that it must be saved for an occasion of the same magnitude it demands. It’s memorable. Triumph of Bacchus extrait in my opinion is primarily a masculine energy in a bottle but it also has an understanding oand an appreciation for the feminine power as well. Easily fills a room for the first 2 hours before settling into arms length for many hours after. Will last you the whole night into the next morning no doubt. Scent: 9/10 Silage: 8/10 Longevity: 10/10 Wearability: 3/10 Value: 8/10 (discounters usually don’t carry the extrait so the price for this is prohibitively high)

Do not fall for the hype train with this one. This has a headache inducing opening, and very similar to Red Tobacco’s opening. Dry down is good, is less sweet than RT’s, and much smoother. Glad I got a decant before sending it with a full bottle because I would’ve regretted it. For what it is, it’s a no for me. Please do not blind buy! However, if you enjoy RT, TOB is a better option IMO since it has a much smoother drydown - less sweet and more smoky/incensy. Overall: 5/10.
