How is Untold SIMILAR and DIFFERENT from the original Baccarat Rouge 540 edp? Overall Untold is seen as an exceptionally good clone of BR540 for the price and volume, there's simply no doubt! However, there ARE differences between the two, so I decided to make a comprehensive post in hopes of assisting others for an even more informed purchase decision: 1. Obviously Untold can't be "of the SAME quality" as the original BR540 because of the price difference--ie. presently about $45 vs. $350 respectively, by volume. The original's note quality, blend and composition etc. must inevitably be perceived as superior, at least to some degree. That said, as a clone fragrance Untold is of fairly respectable quality overall. 2. Similarly, because various "aroma-chemicals" are used even more prevalently to make many relatively inexpensive or high-performance clone fragrances, Untold is primarily a synthetically created fragrance, thus notably best smelled "in the air" rather than close up on skin. 3. Untold smells of alcohol especially during the open, similar to BR540's open. (Yes, it's true). 4. Untold--the way it's composed--is a straight-down-the-middle Unisex fragrance (as indicated by the voting above), as opposed to BR540 which leans feminine--by its voters. 5. Overall Untold smells remarkably similar to BR540 in the air--but is subtly "changed to Unisex"--due to the following compositional nuances: a. Untold's "cotton candy" aura is darker (BR540 smells lighter, airier and sweeter, according to BR540 wearers). b. Untold smells somewhat woodier (w/more balsam fir resin), but still incredibly smooth. c. Untold is both a touch spicier and metallic than BR540. d. There's less of the Latex Rubber vibe in Untold, but it's still there and noticeable. e. (The florals seem equally and wonderfully present in both fragrances). 6. Both fragrances have EXTREMELY good performance in sillage (airiness), projection, and longevity. But because of their exceptional performance, many will go "nose-blind" to both fragrances, as indicated in their numerous comments. To avoid or diminish this if you are affected, spray the fragrance behind your ears, in your hair, and/or on your wrists--but NOT on the front side of your neck or chest where the fragrance can waft directly upwards to your nose and cause this issue. The "average" reported longevity is about 8 to 9 hours for Untold, with many experiencing much more than that. Based on the voting above, nearly 90% either LOVE or LIKE Untold, with the vast majority loving it. Similarly, most here personally experience it as a 90% to 95%+ accurate clone of BR540--with the majority being in the higher range. Although truth be known, few if any will even recognize a difference when they smell it around you in the air! Since it's unisex, women will STILL greatly enjoy it (per their numerous positive comments here). BUT if she or he only desires BR540-type quality, and/or a composition which leans feminine, Untold may well not be for them. Yet ultimately many more men will now be able to wear and appreciate the essence of BR540, with Untold being unisex. All to say nothing of the exceptional price-to-value ratio of this fragrance! Lastly, it's probably best to try/sample Untold before you buy it due to its price, nose-blindness, and the relatively unique nature of BR540. (Thank you for hanging in for this LONG post!).

Another polarizing scent in the Club de Nuit line. Not sure what more I can say that hasn't already been said a thousand times before? On initial application, you really don't smell anything. I think I (like many others) am noseblind to the scent. As it settles down on your skin, you begin to smell it. Unless people give you feedback, you really have no idea just how potent it is? A little dab will do ya'. Too many sprays (specially around the face and neck) is headache-inducing. Lasts all day (a good 10-12 hours) on skin. Lasts forever on clothing. Very strong projection at first, but calms down. Pretty linear throughout. Not too complicated to my nose. As the day goes by, it becomes softer and more pleasant. As for the scent, I like it. I can honestly say it's pretty unique in terms of me not having anything else in my collection that is similar. Unisex, but leans masculine. Definitely a fall/winter/spring scent. Stands out in formal settings. Might be a bit much for the office, though I have worn it to work. Go easy on the sprays if you do, and apply first thing in the morning so it calms down before you arrive. A 30-45 minute commute also helps! By lunchtime and towards the end of the day, it's heavenly. Typical Armaf CDN firehose atomizer, which I love. One spray is 2-3 sprays from other fragrances, so be careful; it's easy to spray on a lot! Not for everyone, so try before you buy! If not this, then the OG or one of the other BR540 clones. See if the DNA agrees with your nose and unique body chemistry. I recall this being in the mid-$30 price point, so a little pricey for a failed blind buy if it doesn't work for you. Layer with CDN Intense Man if you're so inclined. Not too bad!

There's no point in describing Untold notes thoroughly because anyone into perfumes will know what this is about. Among the things that differ from what I've read in reviews, I feel it's too rarely described as salty-woody adhesive machine oil and too often as some kind of sweets or dentist smell, which surprises me as a veteran of hospitals. The sharper, almost fuel-like aspect gives it a colder and industrial personality. Untold is clean in the way a laboratory is clean, not in the laundry way. The drydown is where it becomes even clearer: less fuel at the top, more salty ambergris and resinous cedar dust. Longevity and power are both extreme. You definitely have to learn how to smell it, enjoy it, and appreciate it. At first, when I received it, it felt weakly noticeable, but I understood that it was nose blindness. The first impression can be misleading. The bottle looks like spilled fuel, which suits the scent. An interesting point is that the oily residue in the cap never matches the actual smell. Extra-polarizing synthetic diffusion with a kind of chemical overload type of fragrance. It's definitely my favorite BR540-like fragrance. I've tried quite a few of them, but this one is unusually good. I smelled the original a few times, and honestly, I prefer Untold. I love overspraying it, it's very satisfying. I also recommend Penthouse Versailles from the more rare ones. This perfume is weird, but in the best possible way. When I first sprayed it, I immediately thought of By the Fireplace by Maison Margiela. There’s that same smoky warmth in the opening, that sweet crackle of wood and sugar in the air. But then something happens. Untold takes a different path. By the Fireplace smells like you sat by the campfire two hours too long; Untold smells like you left at the perfect moment, carrying just enough smoke and memory to make people wonder where you’ve been. As it dries down, it becomes something By the Fireplace could never be. There’s a cold elegance hiding underneath the warmth. A sense of restraint. Mystery. Like a story that refuses to tell itself all at once. It smells like untold secrets, successes, failures, quiet turning points no one else saw. It’s sophisticated, confident, and hard to explain, but everyone who smells it will feel something. To me, this is what every great perfume should do: it should break language a little. It should make you reach for metaphors. Untold is the scent of contradiction. It’s dark, but in control. Strong, but silent. The smell of someone who’s seen some $&@% and came out sharper because of it. This scent is the physics PhD who deadlifts 765 lbs. It’s the 30-year-old florist who decided to become a NASA astronaut; and actually made it. It’s for people who want to change the world, not loudly, but interestingly. And the wildest part is that it does a little cyberpunk FU and does literally all that in a $40, 105 mL bottle. A dupe of Baccarat Rouge that somehow feels like its own thing entirely.

Wowowowowowowyyyy!!! Okay so this is not Baccarat Rouge 540. BUT... it’s actually really nice. Like, surprisingly good. Good job, Armaf. :))) I’m a big fan of BR540 because it glows, it sparkles, it has that quiet magic. You catch whiffs of it hours later and think “damn, that’s nice.” It’s classy without trying too hard. Untold doesn’t play that game tho. This one goes off the second you spray it. No subtle shimmer cuz it’s like a perfume grenade. You spray it and boom, you know you sprayed Untold!! Then after a few minutes, you go a bit noseblind to it, which is kinda funny. My batch opens with this slightly metallic edge (DONT KNOW IF YALL HAVE THAT TOO THO!) but deffy not in a bad way tho!! It actually gives it a more "masculine" vibe, almost like if MFK made a "Baccarat Rouge 540 Pour Homme" thingy. Then the drydown kicks in and it starts to feel way more like the BR540 I know and love: sweet, ambery, a little airy. Super pleasant. Longevity? Really solid. On skin it lasts well, and on clothes? Wild. I walked past a jacket in my hallway like three days later and it was still going strong. There I was reminded that yeah, it does smell very nice. All in all, no, it’s not a perfect BR540 dupe for those who search it, but it doesn’t need to be. It’s a loud, fun, well-done take on the idea. And for the price? Kinda hard to beat. I'm super suprised by just how great this smells, well done man fr!!
