Half Moon

Finally, this is on the database! One of my favorite perfumes in my collection. Longevity and sillage is off the charts. Jasmine is dominant, but done in a way that I haven't smelled before. Gucci's latest perfume, Bloom, is very similar to Half Moon, but Half Moon smells like it's made from higher quality ingredients, as it's very natural smelling, and very unique. It's pricey but a little goes a long way. I don't know what else to say about this besides it's hauntingly beautiful, very memorable, feminine, and classy. Everytime I wear it I get compliments. I love this brand, and I hope it becomes more popular now that it's on Fragrantica.

For a jasmine-based scent, this is not too heady. Overall, I find it to be well-rounded. A little like a jasmine peach tea. Could be unisex, though the florals are definitely dominant in the mix. My wife says it reminds her of LouLou by Cacharel, though it seems much less of a powerhouse as that to me. Very pleasing, very easy to wear but quite long-lasting top and mid.

Beautiful fragrance, reminds me a lot of the Jo Malone honeysuckle fragrance. Very very fresh. This last all day on me, and I can even smell the base notes after a shower. Definitely one for compliments especially when wearing the correct attire (white, crisp, cottony).

I love the concept for Atelier Bloem’s perfumes. Although based in USA, the brand is inspired by the Bloemenmarkt in Amsterdam. It’s floating market of about 15 stalls that sell tourist souvenirs like cloggs and tulip bulbs. I bought a nice cactus there and my mum bought some cheese, but they don’t sell too many fresh flowers anymore. Originally in 1862 (and even in Anne Frank’s time), it would have been a freshly scented floral extravaganza. Now I adore white florals, so got very excited at the mention of jasmine with honeysuckle. But ‘Half Moon’ is a very shy, meek and mild fragrance. It’s demure in its natural, virginal beauty, so only whispers its silage. It could have been great if it found its voice. I don’t think it’s “half lit by the moon” I fear it’s half hidden in the shadow of the moon. Atelier Bloem is a great homage to Holland, the Dutch are fantastic people, and at least the perfumes didn’t take olfactory inspiration from Edam, weed, the Red Light District or pickled herring.

Found at TJ Maxx. At first, I did not like this - the top notes were too much for me, and I never wore it. Now over 2 years later, it's a pretty solid Spring Scent for when I'm feeling Cabotine Gres but want to be a little more extra.

Upon the first spray, all I get is a screeching, citrusy, cleaning product scent, with a tinge of burnt rubber. Now this may just be my skin, or maybe I got a bad bottle, as no one else seems to have had this experience. I fell in love with the description of this scent, and did, and still do adore the concept of the whole ‘ethereal rays of moonlight’. Later on, the fragrance settles into a warmer, softer version of itself, and has little lasting power. Overall this is a big no for me, but it could end up working out better for other people!
