Blanche Immortelle

I LOVE immortelle, but, as many noses know it can turn into pancake syrup and sweetness, all maple-gourmand notes, and I can find that level of sweetness cloying after a while. Immortelle also reminds me of summer days, the heat on dry grass, the smell of old flowers drying on the stem in the sun. This scent is primarily immortelle after the first weird blast. Atelier as always puts their citrus front and center, but here, it's a two-minute shot (and kind of weird) and then it dies quickly into immortelle, sandalwood, a hint of rose and some vetiver. I like it and find it quite soothing, very pleasurable, and for some reason I like "more gourmand" scents at night when I go to bed. This is lighter and has a transparency that works during the day as well. I have ordered several sample boxes from Sephora, and then ordered the complete set from Atelier. This may wind up a FB. So far, for every one I don't like, I find one that I do, and this one is FB worthy--if you like immortelle, so you should be familiar with that note before you buy. The medicinal qualities that others are noting may be due to patch, or, that immortelle is only now being used more and more in perfume and to some may be "herbal." I think it's more molasses-caramel, dry grass sweet. On some, the sweet note that is found in Tokyo Milk's Honey and the Moon, or Serge Lutens' Miel de Bois--that honeyish aspect--does turn into a "urine note" (though it never does with me TG); however, B. Immortelle is nowhere near that kind of sweet, honey or treacly quality. If you like "slightly gourmand" faintly oriental and grassy scents, try this.

Bought this blind off eBay, I had looked at the brand and liked there cologne absolute idea, it sounded long lasting and their bottles looked lovely! I had no idea what immortelle smelled like but naively figured it's a flower, how bad could it be?! Now I've come to terms with my initial shock at the odd smell of immortelle, I don't find this too bad but I'd definitely say try it first! Thanks to reading sweetnspicy's review highlighting it's spiced cake like facets I started to see them and appreciate it a bit more. Edit: It's been a year or so, now I have a spare sealed bottle and I hunt like a stalking tiger for other perfumes containing immortelle! This slowly captured me and dragged me down to its warm and comfortable autumn depths! It is like my idea of autumn, the lazy late sunshine, hot spiced food, plaid blankets. I smell other things besides the immortelle now but it's still a main player with floral nuances and hints of sandalwood. I love this so much I have gone mad for Atelier! This will always be my favourite though! I still haven't actually worn this out anywhere (actually feel a bit guilty at this!) but I look forward to autumn when I am determined to pull off this unusual perfume, preferably somewhere nice and cozy (with spiced cake would be a bonus!) As to the notes, I must admit that I struggle to smell anything other than the immortelle note but I find it is rather a dry, dusty and spiced scent with a sweet but not sickly feel, almost reminds me of something toffee like. The longevity is usually good but I don't find the sillage huge.

I am almost as fiend for Ateliers. Until recently I mostly wore their citruses but Blanche Imortelle has become a favorite, so much so that I have stazrted collecting Immorteles. It is a little sweet but I do not think it dips into gourmand territory (there's not a one I would wear). I think it most resembles ELOSO's Like This, but after discovering that Immortelle was at the heart of Guerlain's Eau 54, had to have that too. I think Blanche Immortelle is my favorite of the 3, but if I could afford a bottle of the 54 extrait that might change. (I did see a bottle on ebay last week for $900, a bit rich for my blood). I find it a comforting scent, not very floral, more unisex, and appropriate for day or evening wear, or an office environment. It lasts longer and has better silage than most Ateliers but not so much so that it is likely to bother anyone around you. I really can not think of anything to compare immortelle to, but have been fond of all the immortelle based fragrances I have come across and would appreciate recommendations of others if anyone knows of any.

Blanche Immortelle is the first Atelier fragrance that has had any projection/sillage or longevity on me. Couple that with a wonderful Immortelle that is herbal, sweet, dusty and wonderful... for me, this is great! I'm really enjoying my sample. It's too expensive for me to want to purchase a FB, but I'd be delighted if someone gave me this as a gift. Updated early February 2015: Hooray!! I ended up getting a nice big FB of this beauty (with a little help from a friend)! I love it so much that it's moved to my favorite 5 list. Maybe not for everyone, but an unusual, slightly sweet, powdery wonder to me. :D

If immortelle is this sweet, syrupy and slightly herbal flower that I'm smelling here, then I'm a fan. It's delicious! I can't seem to do many gourmands and immortelle seems like a lovely compromise. This is a very sweet scent on my skin; no bitterness at all, that has a warm, sensual and comforting caramel-like aroma. It's a well-blended and fairly linear scent, although it does develop a little bit cleaner and lighter as it dries down. Soft sillage; lasts for about 5-6 hours. I'm now excited to try similar perfumes!

I agree with other reviewers that this leans towards being gourmand while still being floral. It's a bit sweet but not overly so in my opinion. On my skin I get an impression of maple syrup or honey with some smokiness in the background. It feels cozy and rich.

This perfume makes me long for cool weather and the Holiday Season. It smells like spiced cake soaked in a sauce of orchard fruit that has been stewed in honey and maple syrup. An almost unnoticeable note of sandalwood weaves its way through the gourmand chaos. I smell a touch of masculine vetyver in the base too. I can not decipher any florals at all. Out of all the "colognes" I have sampled from this house, Blanche Immortelle is the heaviest. It reminds me simultaneously of Botrytis and Angel and could be their love child. I enjoy the drydown. There is something creamy about it, yet not vanilla. The bottle is exquisite--a shiny, rose gold, modern beauty with a leather cap. Edit: I found out you can unscrew the sprayer and dab. I much prefer dabbing. The perfume is more concentrated that way, which works better with the syrupy nature of the scent.

This Atelier is quite unlike the others I have tried - it's heavy, sweet and thanks to an overdose of sweet immortelle, leans gourmande to my nose. I almost detect something akin to hazelnut in here and the overall vibe reminds me a little of the push/pull effect that Hypnotic Poison has, more push than pull though, there's not a hell of a lot of restraint going on here, it's pretty darned sweet. I'm not getting the medicinal note that people have mentioned, just flowers, sweetness, a little nutty aroma and a whole lot of warmth. Kind of like a super sweet caramel Starbucks coffee, one with tons of added extra bits & bobs (would sir like maybe some whipped cream, added syrup sauce, sprinkles, fireworks and a lava lamp with that?) but no actual coffee in it. That said, I'm totally enjoying this sample just for today. For immortelle lovers only!

The name might be correctly chosen, as the perfumes highlighting the immmortelle are usually dark, sweet and syrupy. I can see the white in the composition, as it starts fresh, light, flowery. And the immmortelle that follows is like a soft caramel/burned sugar, slightly smoky, not the thick maple syrup usual aroma. It's at the border of being a gourmand; it has the immmortelle base, but it's not quite there yet as the citruses and the flowers are playing a fresh joyful role in the beginning and the sandalwood captures the end. Scent: 6/10 Longevity: 7/10 Projection: 3/10

I smelled this at Sephora the other day. It's nice, but I personally don't think it's worth more than half of its current price. I think as far as immortelle fragrances go, I prefer ELdO Like This or ELdO Afternoon of a Faun.... I did notice quite a difference though when it came to comparing this on my skin versus on a testing strip, so make sure to try it on your skin before buying it.

This is going to sound crazy, but with a deep sniff, I definitely smell spearmint Life Savers candy underneath the sweet spice-and-hay of immortelle. This fragrance is sweet, but not cloying. It's pleasant and interesting, but I agree with Blauriche that it's definitely not special enough to warrant the massive price tag.

Very good. Smells unisex more so than many other fragrances called unisex by their creators. In my opininon Blanche Immortelle is easy to pull off even by "manly men". Atelier Cologne website also describes it as unisex. But according to Fragrantica it is "for women"...

Old-timey oily ointment, medicinal. Rustic, homely. Sweetened camphor. Like some "candies" your grandma used to give you as a kid that you actually hated but now as an adult you find weirdly agreeable, just like she said you would. I'm not sure what to think.

One of the most interesting and expensive smelling scent of Atelier Cologne. Love it. It is perfect for strong, confident women for autumn or winter. Evening perfume.

A while back I got a sample of Goutal Sables, loved it, immediately proceeded to order a bunch of other samples to explore my newfound love of immortelle, then became disappointed when they weren’t Sables. Go figure! Now that I’m revisiting this I find more to like about it than I did before. The jasmine and rose are present but light. I don’t always get along with rose and it doesn’t bother me here. There is a bit of brightness from the mandarin and bergamot but the overall lightness of the fragrance is due to the fact that the immortelle itself is transparent. Everything is brightly lit, you cannot get lost in it, it will not overwhelm you. Which is why it’s less exciting than Sables, in the end. But I have to admit it’s probably more of a people pleaser. Certainly easier to pull off. I prefer it to many other non-Sables immortelles because it avoids fruity notes that push it closer to tobacco, another note I often dislike. It’s not a particularly evocative scent. It tells no story and elicits no particular images or emotions. There’s not enough going on to make it interesting rather than pretty. I think ELDO’s Like This is a better light and slightly rosy immortelle. But this is still one to try if you don’t want to jump off the deep end.

"Blanche Immortelle" is a very linear fragrance for me, apart of having the one 'shining' note of immortelle nothing else really goes on until drydown. To appreciate this scent you have to love immortelle, here it is the dominant note and if you're not familiar with the bitter-sweetness of this note you might not enjoy this at all. It also has a slightly oily feel to it which might not work well with many people. Apart from other notes - there is nothing much, maybe some bits of apricot enhancing the medical syrup sweetness of this scent. The drydown was very unpleasant for me, a very bitter, almost burnt note of sandalwood, way too dry and way too weird in the addition to immortelle for me to appreciate. Silage was fairly low, but staying power was more than expected - almost 20 hours.

Of all the samples that I received from Atelier Cologne (I got the full sample set) this was one of those I most wanted to try. I LOVE the Immortelle note in ELDO's "Like This" and was looking forward to exploring this note further...However, I found Blanche Immortelle to have a slightly sickening curry-esque side to it. Almost maple syrup sweetness mixed with a savoury curry feel. The bitter woody drydown blends with the musty Immortelle and I'm afraid it wasn't my cup of tea at all. As I didn't like it = of course the sillage was impressive as well as the longevity. I was getting wafts of it the next day. To give a fair review I'll try it again in Winter and when my nose is a little more experienced!

i really dislike this, it smells greatly of polysporin; its this odd sickeningly sweet+medicinal smell that reminds me of rotting fruit. i sprayed it and i was wondering why my sweat was smelling so oddly pungent until i sniffed my hand and realized blanche was the culprit. i don't get many body odour associations from fragrance (cumin smells phenomenal) but this was interesting. that said, i've never smelt anything like this. it projects quite well, and its a pretty good atelier release if it works better on your chemistry, as on me it went stinky. maybe i just don't get along with immortelle.

Was wearing this today for the first time. Now I'm reading all the reviews here and I'm puzzled. On me, this smells like I just poured a vanilla latte on myself and allowed it to dry. It gives off a strong smell of sweet coffee that has gone cold. Anyone else getting that coffee smell?

It's field with sweet aromas. I think it has a tropical smell. I love it. It s a little bit dry, I didn't notice that it would last that long.
