Lemon Island

My first try of Lemon Island on paper was disappointing considering my expectations. Lemon seemed to me dominant and overpowering with a tangy zest, while I was looking for a fair balance with Vanilla and Jasmine. A little rough and dry, like a rancid and pungent sunscreen. But then... I tried it on my skin...... and it was perfect. WARNING: I must admit that the first 5 minutes annoy and bother me, but then it turns into a crepuscular scent, when the sand has cooled underfoot. We're far from sunscreens and other seaside resorts. Picture an untouched exotic island, not a touristic caricature. Here is the hydromineral smell of a wild and volcanic beach. I can smell the lemon trees, salted by the iodized breeze that the wind crushes on its citrus fruit. A semi-arid and rocky coastline, with impoverished and generally sterile vegetation. An aromatic and raspy note introduces a landscape of herbaceous drought, reproduced by what looks like an Indian Jasmine, projects me on a desolate land, near the Nile in Egypt or on a beach in Jordan... After 30 minutes I like its lightly powdered appearance, as well as its sparkling and saline citrus trail. A perfume that contains no salt but strangely reminds me of the smell of Seaweed, without being yet another vulgar and ordinary seaside fragrance. I would also gladly wear it in winter, as it is rather cold and becomes much more creamy and dimensional after an hour. I prefer it to "Clémentine California" without any shame. People should smell it properly, instead of quickly jumping to conclusion. Most of them in this comment section unfortunately seem to have failed understanding that extraordinary perfume. 👎 ❤️ 10/10 ❤️ Atelier Cologne made the ugly decision to NO LONGER name its perfumes in French. So we end up here with cheap names such as "Lemon Island" which lacks delicacy and elegance. Altering their identity in order to attract an international clientele, in order to sell faster and more. Where has the Niche spirit gone? And the French-Touch so claimed by Atelier Cologne in its early days? Lemon Island is a masterpiece, although it's almost a shame that it doesn't contain: - Tuberose - Ylang (from French Polynesia) - Frangipani - Heliotrope - Sambac Jasmine - Gardenia

Gentle, calming, lovely scent. The initial spray has lemons; it’s pretty sharp, borderline screechy for the first 5 minutes then settles into something quite leafy and subtle. The lemon is present for the first hour or so until it gets lost in the white florals. The white florals are present throughout the life of the fragrance. Not sure what Indian jasmine smells like exactly, but you do get subtle hints of jasmine. To my nose, the most prominent smell is tuberose and it has a chalky quality to it, especially further in the dry down. The florals seem to push off the skin pretty strongly; projection is pretty good for the first hour or so (more than 1 meter) and creates a nice scent bubble around you. At the base, there is a sweetness that can be attributed to the vanilla; it’s very soft and natural. Overall, it’s a beautiful scent. I feel like this scent would do great in the heat of summer, and even has a faint smell of sunscreen. Unfortunately leans a bit too feminine to my liking but I would wear to bed or if I’m alone with my wife. 9/10

Would like to cut all the negative reviews in here. It seems as everyone is used to AC zingy fresh quick dying scents (so do I) but this is an entirely new direction to them. I feel marketing for it it is VERY unfortunate with all luscious tropics and azure shores making people think of some Bora-Bora holiday escape with fruits and sun and tropical cocktails. It is not. I expected tropical and got soft sandy beach vibe hidden between Albion cliffs of Dover. I like it, there is an ozonic presence to this scent. Soft musks and juicy blast of lemon in the opening. Everything is very unisex. There is definitely salt and that mineral touch in there what TF has in their oud minerale that makes me think of California dream by LV and MM Beach walk too. These are all not dupes by any means, they all carry that salty sea breeze accord. Dry down is quite velvety, soft airy vanilla. All summer appropriate, all gender appropriate, projection is moderate, longevity 6h easy but goes to skin scent after 4 hours. Stays way better if applied on hair.

I really like this fragrance. At first I was unsure because of the vanilla dry down. I was expecting more of a fresh lemon burst, but the vanilla makes it creamy and a bit gourmand. I kept going back to it though, until I finally broke down and bought a bottle with no regrets. Surprised at the low rating. This is a light, yummy, lemon, vanilla scent with a touch of floral. People say it’s too lemon and they expected something more, but the name is LEMON ISLAND! It’s sorta point blank in your face with that. So the fact people are shocked by nothing more than that is amusing. I love this though. And for a citrus, it lasts on my skin pretty long. Just sample and keep in mind it’s a creamy citrus, not a fresh burst of citrus.

UPDATE: I get endless compliments on this scent, I've been told it smells differently from a distance than next to my skin I'm a newbie to the fragrance world, so take my review with a grain of salt. This perfume reminds me more of Mugler's Alien rather than Replica's Beach Walk or Tom Ford's Eau De Soliel Blanc. Lemon island, to me, has a very strong jasmine note, almost as strong as the lemon. It's a very summery fragrance, and I doubt I would reach for it during winter/fall/spring

First smelt this from a sample as a part of sephora pick n mix last summer. Loved it and had to get a bottle straight away bought mine from Notino and arrived within a few days. I think I prefer it compared to Maison Margiela Under the lemon tree which I also had a sample of. Lemon Island is a fresh, zesty fragrance perfect for spring and summer, more of a daytime fragrance. it lasts about 2-3 hours on my skin, but on clothes a bit longer. Love it!

😍 an absolute wonder 😍 A very zesty Yuzu with creamy jasmine and seaweed ! I am crazy about this one, it's so different ! Very delicate and clever, it's truly unique compared to the current mainstream trend. It's a masterpiece !! My husband loves it too, to be fair. I also wear it during Winter, there's something cold about that perfume. A wonderful fragrance.

Purchased the pomelo paradise scent and got lemon Island as a sample. I wore lemon island for the first time and it smells delightful! The fragrance smells like lemon cake, imo. It has good longevity, not sure about sillage, but will keep wearing it to see if its F/B worthy. So far, im impressed.

Very simple but charming fragrance. Feels like a day on a beach with a good book. People who claim it smells like a toilet cleanser, may I live in your bathroom? I will close my eyes when you’re doing your business.

This is beautiful. The lemon with jasmine really is different... nice and fresh. I don't detect any vanilla. I layer this with Bath and body works new White Tea and Sage lotion and body mist and wow! So good.

Love this for warmer days. Bright lemon w/no sweetness at first. Then the jasmine comes through with a base of nutty vanilla. The warmth lasts 6-7 hours while the original bright lemon lasts for 1-2 hours.

Tried today in Sephora, this is just excellent. I ended up with Clementine California from the same line, but this one will be next.

Lemon Island is a pleasant perfume. If you're expecting a sharp or realistic lemon in the vein of previous Atelier scents then you're going to be disappointed. What you do get is a perfume with a nice soft lemon opening (a bit in the style of soft lemons like Chanel Allure Edition Blanche) that is modified with a touch of gentle jasmine and vanilla. It's nice and gentle. The initial projection is between intimate and moderate for the first hour before it settles to just an intimate sillage. Half an hour in the balance changes to lemon and jasmine being equal partners with vanilla in a supporting role. One and a half hours in and the balance has changed with jasmine as the lead note with lemon and vanilla in a joint supporting role. Two and a half hours in and it is a jasmine scent with hints of vanilla and tiny hints of lemon. It begins to fade after three hours and lasts between six and seven hours in total. It's a like for me. Whilst this is nice enough I would still prefer Chanel Allure Edition Blanche for a soft lemon scent or a lemon and vanilla combination. If you want a fresh lemon I would steer you towards Guerlain's Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat or I Profumi di Firenze's Limone di Sicilia. I don't get any of this beach vibe talk, and definitely no wet dogs or saliva nonsense I'm reading in other reviews: sometimes I wonder if people are drinking the perfume rather than wearing it - that would at least account for the saliva comments! Nevertheless, this one seems to fit daytime in spring and summer.

I actually enjoy this one more than I thought I would. I thought this would just be a crisp lemon scent. At best: a pleasant and bright citrus that is juicy and easy to wear. At worst: lemon scented cleaning products. However Lemon Island took me by surprise. There are only three notes listed: lemon, jasmine and vanilla and I can definitely smell each. The jasmine and vanilla rounds out the bright lemon much more and turns the scent into something that has a bit more depth than I first thought. The slightly indolic jasmine and the ever so sweet vanilla give a sexiness to me that many citrus-forward scents lack. But what I really love about this scent is the saltiness. To my nose, there's a lot of salt to this fragrance and I love all manner of salty fragrances, especially when it comes to my tropical summery lineup. The salt really invokes the nostalgia of a tropical beach, but the vanilla and jasmine add warmth so I can totally see this being worn to dinner on a warm summer night in Hawaii. Overall, it's a nostalgic scent to me- one that transports me to an exact place and time. A Hawaiian island with salty hair, wearing a long dress to an outdoor dinner on the water. With all the mixed reviews I was expecting some nondescript lemon scent but in reality this is more up my alley than I thought.

I didn't expect much from this, but I'm pleasantly surprised! It's not a crisply clean lemon juice, if that's what you're looking for. It almost borders on becoming gourmond, but the vanilla isn't in a high enough dose to truly become cakey or anything. It serves to soften this though, and gives it femininity. There's only a modest amount of jasmine in here. I agree with a few folks that this smells salty. Do you know what's nice about forgetting about sample you ordered? It's being able to test things totally blindly without checking on here first, or being influenced (I check reviews after I deal with my own impressions) 😅😆 This definitely, definitely has some saltiness. Vanilla Vibes, and Olympéa claim to have salt included, but I actually get more in here despite it not being listed. Mmmm! 🍋🧂 This is relatively simply, and isn't great until it warms on the skin, and it does remain intimate. I could be biased, but I think the absolutely perfect application for this would be a platonic situation of close contact, or close quarters. I'm going to wear this to my BJJ class, it's a great choice for something along those lines. Overall though, I wouldn't call it a great deal regarding the cost, I think it should be less than half this expensive.

8/10 I very much enjoy this scent. I originally acquired it from Sephora as a sample and have been continuing to get samples when I have the chance. I now have gone through a couple samples and still have a couple left. Here is what I love about the scent. It is citrus. It is almost unisex (it leans slightly feminine). It is vanilla but not gourmand. It is almost overpowering but not quite. Once it dries down I don’t think it would be offensive to many people (I could be wrong about that though). From what I have written so far, you might be thinking that this fragrance would be at the top of my wishlist but it is actually not. I feel like there is so much to love but it is missing something that would add a bit of excitement or flare. If someone gave me like $1,000-$2,000 dollars to spend on fragrance it would be something I would buy but otherwise it is just not at the top of my list. A lot of the other written reviews that I have seen say a lot of different things that either the citrus is synthetic or too strong or it is too floral. I personally get like no floral note but just 2/3 lemon 1/3 vanilla. I think you might like it, love it, or hate it. Don’t blind but but if you run across a sample go ahead and pick it up.

I actually really like this perfume. I’m currently at the beach and I find myself reaching for it a lot. It’s not my favorite fragrance in the world, but I’m definitely surprised by its low rating as I still find it a pleasant summer fragrance. The scent has three main stages, for me. It opens with a yummy lemon blast which is just delicious. After that, it’s a very sweet, candy-like scent. Reminds me of something from my childhood that I can’t put my finger on....kinda like a mix between lemon drops and bubble gum. The last scent is very beachy. Someone below me described it as ‘crushed starfish,’ another as sunscreen-y. I think both descriptions are relatively accurate. Not unpleasant though. Sillage isn’t awesome, although occasionally people remark on its scent if it’s within ten min of my application. I feel like people only get the lemon scent though, the later beachy scent sits much closer to the skin. Longevity is similar, lemon/candy scent is pretty much gone within two hours but the sunscreen scent is there for a good 4 hours.

This fragrance opens a lemony jasmine. It’s very rounded smelling like the jasmine bouquet has slightly powdery petals and projects well. The lemon has a bitter citrus edge to it. It has rind and pith. I could see a lot of people not enjoying this because it comes together smelling almost like bathroom air freshener in the opening. Once the opening starts to dissipate and the vanilla warms on my skin, it becomes something really special. It’s such a light, creamy vanilla that makes me picture a pour of vanilla liquid. It’s not overly sweet or syrupy. It may sound strange, but I really enjoy this fragrance in the winter months too as the cold weather enhances the vanilla while warm weather amps up the lemon. Despite the lemon and vanilla, it’s not gourmand. It’s definitely still a floral scent but it’s one of the jasmine-vanilla combos I actually enjoy. There’s been so many of these popping up within the last few years it’s driven me insane. I feel like I'm campaigning against them at this point.

This is one of the most interesting scent I own from the line. Lemon Island falls out of line with their usual line of citrus scents. This one is more "savory" than sweet. The lemon comes through unexpectedly. Instead of the usual light, dancing, sweet performance of citrus, this one has more leaning towards green and grassy. It's as if you are are smelling the lemon that is still on the tree as well as the leaves, the bark and the watered soil. The jasmine and vanilla comes off the same way - still rooted in the soil. Not listed in the notes but it I smell scents reminiscent of ginger and lemongrass. If you are looking for a sweet gourmand scent, this ain't it. It is fresh, clean, not heavy and comforting if you like the smells of a lemon grove that sits a few miles from the ocean. They nailed it with the name.

Yesterday I ventured into a Sephora and decided to try Lemon Island, the latest from Atelier Cologne. Unlike other citrus based scents from Atelier, this doesn’t open with the brand’s signature bright burst. Lemon Island feels like the local hangout with a soft, unsweetened lemon scent floating in the air. Dry down lands in a bed of jasmine with vanilla. Not the most interesting perfume but very wearable and easy to like. Even when Atelier doesn’t hit a home run, their citrus based scents are still pretty good. Although my favorite from this brand is a gourmand, Cafe Tuberosa. Surprised by the low rating for Lemon Island, I can imagine a lot of people loving this one.

This is a salty vanilla/lemon combination. I know salt is not listed, but this is definitely salty marine genre, similar to Beach Walk by MM. If you like beach walk, you will most likely like this one also. Lemon Island is not a "typical" Atelier cologne, but definitely something they have been missing in their line. To be honest, the proper review should be given after wearing it in heat. Right now, I can only say that the wearing in -10C doesn't make a justice to blame the longevity. I don't know where the heck people get a comparison with Shalimar? This is crazy, because it just makes other people confused.

This should really be called LemonGRASS Island. The bright citrus note in the opening is far more lemongrass than true, fresh lemon. Reminds me of a lemongrass candy I ate as a child. Very salty, with a mellow vanilla jasmine in the background. If you liked Madie by Rosie Jane but thought it was perhaps too chalky sunblock salty, you would like this. Also lasts reasonably well for an Atelier citrus. About 5-6 hours on my skin. A clear pick for summer, for people who want something other than coconut.

Someone further down compared this to a wild beach as opposed to a tourist destination. I think that's a beautiful way of describing this perfume-- it's not a brightly colored swimsuit, sunscreen and flip flops summer scent, but more of an afternoon walk along a lonely, overgrown, hidden coastline. It's bitter and powdery, with a hint of zest. I'm tempted to keep it, but similar to Vanille Insensee, the powdery-ness of it is just a bit too pronounced on me and gets a little overbearing.

I own this but hardly reach for it anymore. Today a windy snowy cold day I put it on. Not only on my skin but on my wool sweater and it’s more amazing on cloth to me.(the lemon stands out more. The day doesn’t seem so dreary Was about to gift it but idk now

I understand why other people don’t like this, it is more jasmine-y than anything else. It’s a little flat on its own, but I LOVE it when I layer it with Nemat amber. Not worth a full bottle, but I bought the travel size

First spray it smells of only lemons but it dries down into a candied lemon with a hint of vanilla. Sweet and citrusy. The longer it sits on the skin the sweeter it gets and the lemon scent fades.

Sweet jasmine. I didn't get any lemon and I wouldn't classify it as a citrus scent - it's more of a beachy sweet floral. Very reminiscent of the new release from Loewe (Paula's Ibiza Eclectic).

Upon initial spray This smells exactly like Ocean Salt scrub from Lush. Super lemony with a little saltiness. It does dry down to a nice, vanilla floral. Not my favorite but I don't hate it.

This is a lemon snack cake scent. Non realistic lemon but a desert like essence. Projection and sillage is average. I like this. It's nothing special but I enjoy it.

Soft pretty floral citrus, I'd say even more lime-like than lemon. Thankfully the signature Atelier base has been toned down here. A strong like for me

To me, it smells like a sweet, creamy lemon pie and lots of soapy jasmine. The sweetness definitely helps with longevity.

Atelier Cologne makes some of the best citrus scents around - they really have the knack of making them feel realistic and perfume-like at the same time in just the way that I (and many others) love, enhancing all the characteristics that make citrus fruits smell (and taste) so wonderful: bright, zesty, bittersweet, just naturally very happy and uplifting. This Lemon Island feels like a departure from that, which isn't a bad thing - by now they'd done almost every citrus fruit imaginable in that happy-uplifting way, and although I'll personally never get enough on variations on that theme, I understand the desire to diversify. And this isn't a bad way of doing lemon either - still realistic but much more subdued, not at all sweetened but rather bitter, with marine notes and florals that are just as unsweetened as the citrus sharing center stage. It's a cool kind of scent, definitely perfect for this hot summer's day - there might be vanilla in there somewhere, but it's very soft and again not at all sweet, more woody than gourmand if anything. So it's quite nice, but it's just that this interpretation of citrus doesn't appeal to my personal taste nearly as much as most others in this line. I think my decant will last me a lifetime.

I have Shalimar (several different ones) & Creed Sublime Vanille mentioned above as being similar. No. This is very nice, but it is nothing like any of the Shalimars & Creed SV is a Vanilla Scent that has almost a hint of Lime, in a very good way. That is a Masterpiece! First, if you are going to buy this, make sure you are the person willing to spray 8-10 Sprays & also your clothes. This is almost gone on skin within 15 minutes. It's not a sweet Lemon, & it's not a Sour Lemon, it's a very green light Lemon, you barely get any jasmine. I do like it, I will keep it & use it up, but def not a repurchase. There's way too many less expensive Lemon scents that are much better. For example, the Lemon Perfume BBW came out with. If you want this, wait til next year, you will be able to buy it cheap then. 5 out of 10. Edit: Drydown is a little medicinal, I am getting Lemon Lysol Cleaner, very faintly. This needs VANILLA/ CREAM in it! PS Edit- I can't wear this by itself, & that is rare for me to say. I am going to have to pair it with a strong Vanilla. I'm now giving it 4/10 & even consider selling it. After my review, I'm sure nobody wants it tho :(

When life gives you lemons, you just leave the lemons alone. This fragrance should have been named Lemon Bakery. In fact throughout the life span of this scent I could smell lemon icing, lemon cake, lemon gelato and so on, mixed with lemon scented talc and a bit of sunscreen. If you love sweet lemon scents, á la B&BW, then you’ll be thrilled with Lemon Island. The lemon is right upfront, impossible to miss. Bright, quite real, uplifting. But then the sweet floral and powdery notes. They weigh down the fresh lemon and at this stage it smells like a vintage perfume, very floral, powdery and sweet. I wouldn’t call this a unisex scent, perhaps the dry down. Again, if sweet lemon is your taste, then I’m sure you’ll be pleased with lemon island.

Yeah this is literally soap. Nostalgic, classic soap bar. White flowers dominate the lemon. Super powdery. Super clean and fresh. It is very vintage smelling. It's sweet and sour without being bitter. It has a slightly salty undernote which is not listed, but I personally detect it (I might be delusional). The crazy thing about this is that the initial spray smells like straight up lemon water (yes, even the aquatic note of water itself) to me, and nothing else. Then it quickly turns into a very nostalgic soap bar. The smell is much too feminine for it to be categorized as an unisex fragrance, but that obviously doesn't mean men cannot wear it!

Blind opening: fresh, green, spa-like tranquility. Aromatic, bitter lemon with a slight masculine lean. No sweetness or similarity to cleaning product lemon, which I appreciate. After about 10 minutes the floral is the most dominant, and is the star of the show for the remainder of its lifespan. By then it begins to lean feminine. While the majority of the citrus takes the backseat for the jasmine, the white floral still has a lingering sourness. The vanilla isn’t easy to distinguish, but it does a very good job of rounding out and grounding the fragrance. Not a favourite of mine from Atelier, but still pleasant and inoffensive.

This isn't much of a citrus perfume like some of the others by Atelier, in fact this is quite a creamy perfume. The combination of the lemon, jasmine, and vanilla give this a sunscreen lotion smell - it smells very beachy and salty. This is similar to Replica's Beach Walk and Tom Ford's Eau de Soleil Blanc, that same beachy holiday accord that's become it's own scent family, but I like both of those more than this one. There's something of a bitter quality to this perfume when it's first sprayed that I didn't like, althought the dry down was okay. It lasts around 6 hours and has moderate sillage.

First blast of cool sweet lemon floating on top of jasmine. It's probably a bad reaction to my chemistry but after a minute the jasmine turns sour and metallic, kind of garbage-y, off-putting and distasteful. It's nice but definitely the wrong frag for my skin. When it's sprayed in the air, it's lemon fresh and sweet jasmine. Unisex but feminine leaning and best for hot weather days. 6+ hours later: Luckily that garbage metallic jasmine started to behave at about the 1 hour mark and left behind a properly fresh and light scent behind, still lingering 6 hours later.

It’s interesting how people are picking up on different notes. I honestly just get lemon. Not in a refreshing, watery way either. I’m also not getting any sweetness, (lemon) vanilla cake vibes. It’s strong, almost borderline cleaning product citrus. Like few people said, it gives me strong, synthetic citrus as done in MFK aqua vitae forte and amyris femme. Not for me, I really don’t do well with citrus dominant scents for the most part because it just amplifies on my skin.

Opening: Very nice refreshing Lemon 🍋 Mid: Jack in the box mens restroom circa 1990's Drydown: Better than the mid, gets creamier and fairly classy. I'm not trying to slander this frag or be cute, but I stand by my opinion. This is the scent memory this triggers for me. The opening is one of the better lemon openings I have smelled except maybe Sel Marin. But after that it loses its charm. And the restroom scent never completely leaves.

I'm a big fan of Atelier Cologne, and this one is very pleasant. But when I was a kid, our dogs' groomers used a shampoo that somehow smelled just like this. Don't get me wrong, I think it was a high quality shampoo, and the dogs smelled amazing for days. Nothing objectively wrong with the smell at all. Unfortunately I can't disassociate my childhood from this bottle, and that's a bummer.

Lightly lemony, soapy, floral, and a little powdery. Kind of makes me think of the original/classic Old Spice but lighter and much more unisex. Jasmine is the predominant player. Should have been called Jasmine Island. Dry down is much more powder. Slightly citrus, but mostly vanilla sweet powder. Some will enjoy that. I like the idea, but it's just a touch too much powder for me.

This is not a sharp zingy lemony scent. It takes on a more softer approach.. like lemon wafers or Italian lemon sorbet. This would be a great scent for the summertime. Like the smell but it does remind me a lot of this Thai Parrot Botanical soap scent that always lingers around after one of my grandparents had their bath/shower when growing up. Lol.

This one has some similar vibes to Beach Walk and Soleil Blanc. Lemon is not real here, it's more generic and it very quickly gives away the spotlight to the floral notes. I call it 'wealthy Sun in a bottle'. Don't expect fresh lemon or sweet coconut smell; it's a 'beachy' fragrance but rather in an old-school, sophisticated way.

How is beach walk #1 in the smells similar category? They smell nothing alike! I get that things smell different to different people, but give me a break. It's like if I told you sour cream tastes like whipping cream because they are both creamy😄 I really think some people don't even smell these fragrances when they vote
