Pivoine Nue

The peony accord is one of my favorite in perfumery and I am always curious to discover how perfumers reconstruct it. As the listed notes already suggest, the emphasis lies here on the fresh, green and spicy side, not unlike geranium. The aldehydes are very prominent and only start to subside after around 2 hours when the fragrance gains a tiny bit of sweetness before slowly turning into a faint muskiness. The musky remnants are still recognizable on my clothes after 12 hours. The overall impression of the fragrance is not unlike the Chloé EdP. Personally, I prefer my peony fragrances less spicy and more rosy, floral and powdery, such as Pivoine Flora by L’Occitane en Provence or Rose Pivoine by Nicolaï. However, I still think that this is a beautiful peony fragrance for lovers of aldehydes.

Reminds me of Eladaria, without the powdery vanilla accords. The bergamot and mandarin are quite overpowering in the beginning, and I don't feel like they were well blended to compliment the rose or peony. Feels a bit like this fragrance is fighting an internal struggle rather than shining. It's not bad, but I don't think I will finish my sample.
