Sud Magnolia

This is a really gorgeous perfume. I agree with the reviewer below that it reminds me of Chloe Eau de Parfum and its flankers ie. Roses de Chloe and Rose Edition. The opening of Magnolia Sud is a bright, effervescent citrus chord. I can detect a prominent grapefruit with its bittersweet rind, and less of the bitter orange - although I can also see why it’s there. Really beautiful, fresh, smooth and sparkling citrus. Then comes the rose! This is a clean pink rose and peony type of accord which is why it makes me think of the Chloe perfumes. Feminine, pretty and perfect for whenever. I love wearing Magnolia Sud in summer and it really works with my skin chemistry. Sparkly citrus at first then a fresh floral rose, and then a subtly sweet, musky rose. Definitely has development as time goes on and is not linear. As for the other notes - the magnolia has been brushed over by roses and creates quite a fresh fantasy accord of florals. The florals are then sweetened by the fruity blackcurrant - never too sweet or too much - again, very subtle. The citrus plays a major role in lifting the composition. Bright. Fresh. Sparkling. Yes I repeat myself :) This is a light scent to spray generously with. My favourite from Atelier Cologne. This scent is devoid of their synthetic citrus-woody-herbal-patchouli signature which I am quite tired of honestly. Magnolia Sud is sweeter, and more feminine. Sillage: Not amazing but just enough for someone to smell sitting next to you. Works well with people with higher body temperatures. Longevity: Pretty good for Atelier - I give it a solid 4-5 hours and then you will need to respray. But who cares? The opening is amazing!

Oh I love this one. The first spray is very fresh, vibrant and real citrus blast. Mostly grapefruit with a bit of tart orange. It's super refreshing. After the perfume settles a bit then it I start detecting the wood in the background and some sort of floral smell. I really don't know how a magnolia smells like, but the floral tones are there, but subtly. I read a bunch of reviews saying this was a rose explotion and the first time I tried it, it did give that vibe. But now that I actually own it, then I get more of the citrus than anything else. And the citrus stay there for all the duration of the fragrance, which is not common. They do become more subtle and give more way to the rose and the musk with the woods. I'm quite surprised that a lot of people find this one not long lasting. On me it stays there for about 6 or 7 hours although the sillage does diminishes as time goes by. Around the 4th hour I'm quite sure it is very soft. I love it. Can not say any more about it.

Citrus-Floral Magnolia with Pomelo & Rose... I just have an aged sample of this, but I'm enjoying the pomelo-magnolia and I can't stop sniffing my wrist. As it opens, I get the pomelo with citrus, floral, fruity, sour & faintly green tones, but already here the magnolia & rose are swelling through which give it a deep floral tilt - not quite the lemon-y rose of geranium but along those lines. There's a soft fluffy sweetness as well, and as it transitions to the heart I get a scaled back saffron which adds a spiciness to the floral impression. This has light to moderate performance, although better than expected once the sillage wakes up, and it would likely perform best in spring-summer. There's a simplicity here, but it's also unique. I would definitely wear this in spring-summer. It's a love for me. Enjoy! Update: Testing this again, I'm struck by the opening, leaning a little to geranium before it turns creamy. Love it still.

i never know the scent of magnolia is but when first sprayed this fragrance remind me of Roses de Chloe from Chloe. it slowly changing and in the end only the orange scent left, which definitely makes this fragrance unique and not too feminine. i never thought that i would love a scent of bitter orange but it turns out that i love it. i love the fresh and uniqueness offered by this fragrance

It’s a beautiful citrusy magnolia for about 5 mins,,then on me it turns into a faint skin scent that I can barely detect. Too bad, if only it lasted at least a few hrs. So no, this is a pass for me as well. I think if they sold it in larger batches as a body spray and lowered the price considerably then more ppl would be interested.

A nice sample from my Advent calendar. I like this scent, more of a feminine one smells of Magnolia and Roses mostly, and I am a fan of both. Fades into a dry down of citrusy, sweet woods atop a nice bouquet. Pleasantly lingers on my skin nicely.

This smells exactly like Casablanca at dusk time in the summer. So rich and flowery. An absolute love discovery.

Love this old winner from a Sephora Samplers set. Bitter orange, almost peppery. Floral and wood dry down.

I have a 10 ml purse spray of Sud Magnolia, and that's perfect, because I've developed the usual ambivalent feelings about it that I almost always do with Atelier Cologne's offerings. Once again, the opening is pure love for me: a vibrant, natural, altogether delightful burst of citrus and magnolia. I've never been to the American South, but if Savannah really smells like this, like AlphaLimaTango mentions below, I'm going! So once again, I'm totally sold, until that wonderful opening wears off completely in an hour or so, and a subdued musky skin-scents with only an echo of magnolia is left. This isn't bad, exactly, and at least it doesn't develop in a more masculine direction like many others from this house do, but to my nose the greatness of this one is definitely limited to that first hour. So I'm glad to have my 10 ml, so I can experience that lovely opening from time to time, but that amount will probably last me a lifetime.

Sud Magnolia by Atelier Cologne--ya basic, buuuut, you smell really good, last forever, and project like a beast. I bombed out my coworkers for several hours with just two sprays. The opening is sweet, juicy citrus with soapy rose and magnolia. I've never sniffed magnolia flowers, so i'm just going by the note list. The sweet juiciness quickly dries down to a fruity floral turned up to 11. The trademark Atelier clean, woody musk plays a big role in this fragrance and sometimes a warm saltiness in the form of celery shows up. Sud Magnolia isn't original at all, but it's well done--good luck getting rid of it in the shower. 3/5

I got the little Collection Azur set from Sephora, and this was the only one I kept for myself. They are supposedly all unisex fragrances, but while the other three seemed very masculine, this one strikes me as totally feminine. I don't really pick up a magnolia scent here, but the fruity-floral fragrance is nice, if not quite worth the high price. I'd say Love & Toast makes equally fresh citrus-florals (Sugar Grapefruit, and Persimmon Plum) that smell more natural, and are a shocking bargain. (The Atelier Colognes do have much better staying-power, though).

The first magnolia tree I can ever remember smelling was on a vacation in Alabama. Gorgeous white flowers with a scent that smells like heaven. I fell in love with this fragrance. I think Atelier does a great job recreating that authentic smell with Sud Magnolia. I absolutely love it. Only downside is the longevity. On me, it only lasts about 2 hours. That bummed me out. Will keep looking for a long lasting perfect magnolia fix... Enjoyed this sample so much, I am going to look into planting a magnolia tree in my backyard!! Happy smelling! :)

Smells better than it looks I thought I'd hate it but then I smell rose (opening) and also Orange. So it's femme but then that Masc kicks in. It's not Rose after all it's Magnolia. That's to say, this is how Magnolia smells... Strong opening then disappears, I don't hate it but don't like it either. Wearing summer '18 at night time. I think I'd wear this out but would not repurchase. Not as bad as the blue one "Cedre Atlas". Definitely more tolerable though no cigar...

My local Sephora SA knows me well, so when I was in she ran up to me and announced that they got their hands on the new quattro from Atelier. When I sampled this I thought she gave me the wrong perfume as it is very similar to Rose Anonyme. I didn't get a chance to wear it so I can comment on development etc, however off the bat smells very similar to the Rose from this line, even though the notes do not suggest it.

This delightfully pretty scent opens with a bright blast of rose and pomelo very reminiscent of Chloe Roses on my skin. This has a lovely creamy light citrus heart; the magnolia, orange and musk keep this bouyant and prevent this from settling into anything too laden down by heavier synthetic spice notes. A citrus rose cologne more than soliflore magnolia by any means but absolutely lovely all the same.

Bright citrusy magnolia/rose opening. Light and energizing but feminine; this is like cologne for women. The citrus is zingy, the florals delicate and lovely. After the citrus dissipates you're left with a pretty but generic light fruity floral. Not a challenging fragrance by any stretch of the imagination but likeable and pleasant. Decent longevity, but only the floral notes. Feminine but upbeat.

I find this to be a sharp orange scent to start out. It has a very heavy opening scent that my hubs isn't a fan of. It becomes a floral scent but still retains sharpness on me until the dry down when it is just a warm creamy sandalwood. I used an entire sample vial and bought the large bottle.

It's very pretty scent. The cedar mixed with the citrus notes is beautiful (not at all like pinesol). I got a decent longevity and sillage from the perfume. However, these type of woods give me a horrible headache and asthma. If not for that, I would have purchased a larger bottle.

Magnolias as the star of a fragrance? Yes, please! This starts off beautifully, but as others have mentioned, after that it just stalls and fades. It's like a quality body spray. It's fresh, bright, and cheerful. Perfect for a spring or summer's day.

This is so refreshing to the level I can say it has: rehydration-feel to it! But it is unfortunately doesn't last at all; I get 30 minutes of light projection then it is subdued skin scent for 4-5 hours and then it is completely gone!!
