Cocoa Kimiya

The first breath of Cocoa Kimiya brought me to the forest before dawn. The trees were still dreaming. The air was green and rich. I could feel the land listening. It begins with cardamom. Fresh and sharp. It cracks open the silence and lets light in. Then comes cocoa. Dry, ancient, and full of shadow. This is not a gourmand in the usual sense. It is not sugary or playful. It is ritualistic. It is elemental. This fragrance moves slowly. It wears like a story passed down in whispers. There is no rush. It invites stillness. On my skin, it became both grounding and luminous. A quiet ceremony in scent form. Marie Salamagne has crafted something that feels sacred. Cocoa Kimiya does not try to impress. It draws you in, if you are willing to listen. Final Thoughts: This is a fragrance for those who use perfume as a form of connection. It feels intuitive and raw, with just enough warmth to wrap around you. A standout for its restraint and its soul. Rating: 9/10 Full bottle worthy? Absolutely. This is one I reach for when I want to feel rooted and inspired.

Majestic opening. Elegant, seamless, and easily among the house’s standouts. This reads as real chocolate dressed up for evening: dark cacao dusted with bright cardamom, then something gently smoky and aromatic that keeps it from turning into dessert. As it settles, the cocoa dries out and the patchouli-vanilla base turns plush, almost glowing. In the late drydown, I get a surprising déjà vu: a vibe close to Xerjoff Tony Iommi Monkey Special, not identical, but the same warm, ambery sweetness with patchouli humming underneath. Give it time and you’ll see what I mean. Verdict: luxurious, balanced, and addictive. If you like your gourmands grown-up and a little shadowy, this is it.

You have to bear through the opening and give this a full wearing on skin. It takes a few minutes to get through the muddled opening but 5-10 minutes in it’s a gorgeous chocolate cacao patchouli with some mentholated cardomam accents you feel some amber/resins probably some benzoin, myrrh and labdanum. Although this might seem gourmand it wears like a patchouli scent with gourmand and amber accents. Phenomenal sillage and presence. One of the best releases since 2020 you just have to bear through the opening. Retail price point is expensive at $430 managed to snag a tester bottle at $145 very happy with anything below $200 for this. Don’t pay retail....

I have a travel spray but I want a full bottle. I think I put to much next time I put less. This smells so good so dark and ancient mysterious. Very different than anything else I have. I don’t know if I will get a full bottle I need to wear it a few more times and decide. I have way to many perfumes I think I will get one more decant and it will last for a long time.

Just sampled this one.. very rich cardamom and a sweet milky chocolate note. Longlivety and projection are very good. It reminds me a bit of pure coffee from Mugler and intoxicated by Kilian. Normally I am not a fan of chocolate in perfume, but this one is delicious. Actually I was expecting to like Kawa Karda more than this, but this one steals the show..

Its an incredible chocolate fragrance, one of the few that actually give rich chocolate instead of coffee. Dry down scent loses the fresh cocoa and gives you more of a cocoa nibs or husk scent. Lasts a long time, only downside is price truly.

Is insanel, is like I imagine would be an ancient fragrance, mystical, mystifie like a tribute to the mayan civilization, something dark, sophisticated, warm, magical, like a forest full of cocoa trees, humid, far away from the sun light.

an opening that teeters between coffee beans and dark chocolate with an underpinning savoury / sweetness which last hours..almost ambery but never quite tips over to either outright sweet nor vanilla. Unisex and classy.

This is one amazing scent. Masculine leaning and very mature frag.

I'm a big fan of Atelier des Ors. The second these samples were released, I bought them. This Morning I decided to give a full wear of Cocoa Kimaya. I sprayed 5 sprays, and walked out the door. When I was in my car I started to smell this odd, chemical funky, metallic odor. A half hour into wearing this, I regretted it. The cardamom that is listed isn't the same cardamom that is used in Lune Feline- this was very different. I don't smell cardamom. But then after an hour, the perfume really started to develop. There is this very sweet, nutty nuance that is mixed with incense. Now, when I say incense, I'm not talking about the stick incense- it's more like the cone incense, like what you find in Taos, New Mexico. The last notes seemed like maple to me. I'd say definitely try this first- but give it a full day wear before you judge. Even with the unpleasant opening, I still give it an 8.2/10. My favorites from this house still remain: Lune Feline (the original, not the Extrait) and Pink Me Up.

Really nice comforting cozy scent without being too sweet or warm. Like it’s not hot or cold, it’s just right. It’s simple but it’s good. Super long wearing, could still faintly smell it on my wrist when I woke up the next morning. I also love that because it’s so simple it doesn’t evolve into anything as it wears. It’s just what it is the whole time. I feel like I detect patchouli, especially after my partner said I smelled like an antique shop (in a good way), but the notes say otherwise I guess. Just wondering why it’s a million dollars and only available in 100ml. Otherwise I’d consider buying a small bottle for the winter.

I am getting booze, cocoa and patchouli. Perhaps a little vanilla. Pretty pretty pretty good. That is the opening. After that all I smell is sophisticated pancake syrup. This has Tobacolor beat by a mile and is better than Followed. The first is too sweet and the second is too loud. This is just right and the most complex of the three. I do eventually get the cardamom. There is a lot more going on in here than is listed. Very nice. Powder. You can tell me there is no musk in here but I will not believe you.

Why there's no mentioning of patchouli? This is a cocoa-patch combo, which smells very similar to Serge Lutens Borneo 1834. Great scent. I rarely talk about perfume bottles, but this is one of the best I've ever seen.

"Cocoa Kimiya | Atelier des Ors" delivers what it promises but it should be called cardamon kimiya. It's cocoa and cardamom all the way through, with cardamom dominating most of the experience. Promising only two notes, it's still rich and complex and really, really good. Definitely unisex. The opening is a burst of fizzy cardamom with a hint of cocoa. The cardamom slightly softens in the dry down and the cocoa is somehow there. After an hour or so, I get a leathery-powdery cocoa note that is sweeter and gourmand-er. Cardamom is still present and dominant, though. It lasted 6-7 hours on my clothes, but the projection dropped significantly in the first two.

This is so strong. Upon the first spray, I get this super blast of cardamom and fresh cacao husk or pod. It's kind of overwhelming at first, the same way certain incense or oud notes can engulf an entire fragrance. Luckily, it settles down to this realistic and RICH chocolate scent with an aromatic/herbal spice. strangely, at certain times, I get reminded of dry cocoa puffs because of that gourmand-vibe this perfume gives off. It still leans a bit unisex as I prefer sweeter scents.

Unfortunately this was not the powdery cocoa, dry and sparkly cardamom bomb I’d anticipated it to be. For whatever reason, I only ever got spiced maple syrup while wearing on skin. Basically the complete opposite vibe I was going for 😂 I love Atelier Des Ors and it’s in no way a bad scent, it’s blended beautifully and clearly a high quality fragrance — just not my scent profile.

well, smells exactly like the two notes listed above. First there is a strong (somewhat unpleasant) blast of cardamom, then the spice subsides a bit leaving a dusty cocoa powder smell. If you like those two notes, at their bare bones, you will like this. There are probably additional notes, but to my nose, I can only smell the two.

If there are ONLY two notes in this, it's patchouli and patchouli, to last you, me, and everyone in the arc of humanity!

A cheaper, synthetic Dolce Passione with a too powdery cocoa, green and spicy background.

I got patchouli, sandalwood, cardamon and cocoa from this. Not for me.

the first time i sprayed this i was taken aback by how sharp and bitter the cardamom was. on second spray and every spray thereafter i've been obsessed. there's an impression of neighbourhood spice markets, jute sacks full of dried herbs beneath red-topped plastic dispensers, from my childhood in asia in the opening (which i love), but rapidly shifts from the sharpness to an incredibly deep, rich, cool cocoa with minimal sweetness. it's aromatic, deep-earth, and grounding. cant get enough and the only thing holding me back is the price/size -- if they did 50ml i'd be checking out in a heartbeat

Let this evaporate for a bit, it’s a bit alcoholic in the beginning for the lack of top notes. After that, the cocoa note starts to show. High quality cocoa powder with a hint of cardamom. A few minutes in, it becomes notably more spicy and turns into a gingerbread like scent. Gingerbread covered in dark chocolate. (For anybody in Germany or Europe, it smells exactly like *Lebkuchen Herzen/ Gingerbread-hearts*, the ones filled with apricot you can buy in winter time). Simplistic and somewhat linear but still bold, extremely delicious and addictive. 7.5/10

I only have a tiny sample, but wow, a little goes a very long way. Dark. The chocolate note is big at first, but overall the blend reminds me more of black licorice. I wouldn't call this a gourmand though. They made something amazing here. Sexy cardamom dry-down. There must be some patchouli in this. Not for kids. Probably a little too masculine for me personally. I can't pull this off. Someone can though. I would love to meet that person. I just know it's not me.

This is very addictive and not for the faint of heart. Truly unisex scent, dark, mysterious, rich. Somewhat linear but beautiful in its simplicity. Opens with a spicy cardamom that is almost smoky. It makes the composition smell like an aromatic, slightly sweet tobacco in the first 10-20 mins of wear. After that the scent settles and becomes warmer and the dark chocolate comes through. Beautiful creation. Better suited for colder weather.

So cuddly and utterly adorable — it smells more like pecan pie drizzled with maple syrup, just like the one my great-grandmother used to make. Or maybe a classic walnut cake. It’s deeply nostalgic for me, even though I thought I’d be disappointed when I first smelled it on a blotter at the perfume store. But it turns out it works beautifully on my skin, and the memories come rushing back. Pure joy.

I recognize that the labeled spice is cardamom, and the reviews are true, it’s a heavy hit of green cardamom. But, I get other kitchen spices, too; maybe pink pepper and/or something akin to fenugreek? I know that’s probably just my nose. But, whatever it is, it’s unlike any other cocoa fragrance I’ve tried and I love it.

I’ve been searching for the perfect cacao fragrance for years and I have finally found it. Dark as night, spicy, rich, delicious, elevated. I smell bitter cacao, warm cardamom, syrupy patchouli, licorice and maple. I wore this to a restaurant and filled the entire room with my sillage (whoopsie).

The drydown has a very distinctive cardamom scent, with a light dry cocoa note. To get there you will have to endure some harsh metallic notes that feel abrasive and synthetic. I don't think I like the drydown enough to want to endure the opening of this scent. A sample is more than enough.

I like to imagine this fragrance being created for an ancient king who loved dark cocoa. Smells old world-ish and magical. It’s not a crowd pleaser nor a cozy cocoa fragrance, this cocoa is exotic and I feel like this would be more appreciated by those with a more refined palate.
