Villa Primerose

Villa Primerose is very well balanced, no notes are too much. There is a gorgeous fruity-peppery side, but it is crisp, vibrant and refreshing instead of overwhelmingly jammy. The musk is felt all the way through the composition, it seems to be that detergent type of musk, without any animalic tones. It is an extremely pleasant rose in the realm of Roses Musk, Delina, Angel Nova, but Villa Primerose is much calmer, more sophisticated and easier on the nose.

I thought this would be a boring rose scent, but I really like it?? It’s so juicy, with pear and I swear there’s a little blackcurrant too. Slightly leathery undertones, but I don’t get a huge amount of musk

Despite the low rating and negative reviews, I actually really enjoy this release. It reminds me somewhat of Carmina, but much brighter. The leather is subtle and pleasant. It is moderately sweet.

The opening is sweet, soft, and fruity floral. Pear sweetness, pink pepper, and rose blend together very quickly. It is a pretty opening, though not especially striking, because this kind of sweet rosy fruit accord is already very common in perfumery. My first impression was therefore more about wearability, softness, and polish rather than surprise. The bottle made a stronger visual impression than the scent itself, and admittedly I do occasionally buy fragrances because of beautiful packaging. The fragrance is clearly centered around rose. Even after one or two hours, the rose remains very noticeable. This is a soft pink toned rose with a gentle sweetness, combined with the slightly dry texture often found in modern woody fragrances. The leather is almost entirely decorative. It functions more like a subtle outline around the composition, so anyone who normally dislikes leather fragrances can practically ignore it here. The drydown becomes a lightly powdery woody floral. On my skin, iris and musk never become particularly dominant. The overall impression remains rose, soft leather, and a touch of dry woody sweetness. What it does well is presenting rose in a soft and elegant way, then controlling the sweetness with light leather and woods so that it never feels overly girlish. The result is a clean, mature, very easy to wear everyday rose fragrance.

A gorgeous bright rose and leather combo. I’m not the biggest rose fan so I’m surprised I’m enjoying this. I detect the pear and pepper instantly but I’m still searching for the cardamom. The Rose here is very similar to another Marie Salamange offering Rose de Aribe, but the pear keeps it fresher than in that one. However I do find the two quite comparable. If you replace the oud in that one with leather and add a bright fruity pear you might get an idea of how this one smells. It’s a gorgeous fragrance, really beautiful but I couldn’t justify the money for this one, it’s just a little too unoriginal for me personally. However if I seen it at a good price I’d definitely consider it because there’s not a lot of rose fragrances I particularly enjoy. The performance seems really good so far, great projection. Can’t comment on the longevity yet. I’ll try to remember to come back and update when I figure that out.
