Cuir D'Iris

Gorgeous, musky, iris and gentle leather perfume. To some uneventful, and unspectacular but I think in the context of the brand, it's really fitting. Many brands are making these quality, fleshy iris perfumes and that should make them more hackneyed and even less appealing to a gnarled old cynic like me right? well no actually. The devil is in the details here and there's some nice details. Oh this perfume is now called Iris Ebene (they've made a couple of name changes in this line) it has a fresh note in the top which I swore i did discern as mandarin but when smelling again, I can't really detect but there's a general, fleeting sweet freshness which works well with the developing sweet, vegetal notes. The iris is powdery but musky and woody, not too anything for any palate, great balance is displayed in three perfumes from this line santal one, musk one and this one. I love it. But it's quite standard stuff and although I'd happily wear this I think in comparison to Crivelli's Iris that has much more strange points of interest, re:galbanum and chocolate, and if I wasn't so enamored I might consider picking this up. I liked it. I like the brand generally, I'm in love but I'm sold on the concept of them.

I had low expectations since leather is a note that often goes south on my skin. Much to my surprise I really enjoyed wearing Cuir d’iris. What worked for me; this is an easy-to-love, soft leather scent with Iris and spices. I also pick up earthy facets, like a soil tincture note. The whole composition is extremely natural and well made with top shelf ingredients. My house sample is a spray. Initially I thought this was a like, but the longer I wore it the more it fell into the love category.

Is this renamed Iris Ebene? It's my favorite of the line! It walks a fine line between iris & leather :)

Mmm magnetic! A can of thick, sweet and spicy talcum powder from the belle epoque spread gently on a suede. An opulent musk lends itself as a base by clinging to the skin all the time. Very well blended and without turns (like the others in the line) I can't distinguish single notes. Just some anonymous citrus at the beginning. A white and purple atmosphere, gentle to the feminine. In a highly humid environment I get a more pronounced leather, but no stable or horses nearby. At the max this smells like a pair of scented tights that have been wearing expensive suede shoes. :-)) Beautiful, sweet and floury.

Hmmm. I'm reviewing Iris Ebene but I think it's the same as Cuir D'Iris. Is it? Smells like lipstick and compact powder foundation. Feels shiny and satiny. -

Very leathery in the opening. Soon becomes green + soft leather + a hint powdery. Lovely, addictive!

This smells a LOT like 4160Tuesdays Tyger Tyger (not in this database) but this is even better. Tons of citrus, powdery and lots of dry suedelike leather. You have to love leather. Love that there is no fruit, patch or big florals to mask the leather.

very green, vegetal and bitter, a bit of a bandaid plastic note, suede, allspice, petitgrain with a little pink petter but not sneezing level, not powdery; not a typical leather scent and definitely not an iris scent

Cuir d’Iris is a deep, complex yet shiny fragrance of Iris with a base of polished, clean shiny leather. “Polished” is the first impression I get from the juice. Reminds me a bit of wood polisher, but in a good way. The shiny iris was strong in the beginning but it slowly calms down as the leather comes in. The presence of petitgrain in the composition is what makes this scent special; that citrus-like, slightly bitter nuance makes this perfume possess a stand-apart niche quality. LOVE.

I think this is now called Iris Ebene? I got it as part of a discovery set and tried it alongside Malle’s Iris Poudre. I much preferred Atelier Materi’s dry, woody take on Iris. (The Malle blended it with other florals including rose, which I personally loathe, so that ruled it out for me) The fragrance here is fairly simple and linear but I’m going to get so I can layer it with other perfumes: I think it will be great with sandalwoods or musks.

I had to chuckle at the prior reviews. I won't say this smells like a barn but I do get a distinct note of hay from this. It's not overwhelming but it's there. This is not a "lipstick" type of iris. Every other facet of it is present along with the other notes described, including the unusual and welcome carrot. The whole composition is top-notch. Sample if you can. Cuir D'Iris is a quality effort, long-lasting, and truly what I consider niche.

For leather lovers. I can smell leather with a touch of iris... a gentle and textured leather! Warm & potent, more for a man and for fall/winter to my opinion. The longevity and sillage are excellent. The leathery notes are intense for sure. 6/10 because I am not a huge fan of leather but the quality is here!

This unlocked a scent memory I haven’t smelled in years. This smells exactly like Dior Fahrenheit 32 to me. I feel like this is more refined and maybe a tad bit more woodsy. The iris feels a little more tamed than the powdery DNA of Dior Homme.
