Cuir Nilam

A Dominion of Leather Whenever there is a discussion in the fragrance community about leather in perfumery, this masterpiece flies under the radar. This perfume has brought me so many compliments that I simply cannot believe it, especially from the fairer sex. Opulent cardamom, powdery violet, airy violet leaf, and saffron conjure a memorable, fresh, and oriental opening, giving the sharp and amply animalic black leather a boost of warmth, potency, and elegance. The leather accord is reminiscent ofOmbre Leather by Tom Ford, but here the leather is much more dominant, darker, and bolder. Cuir Nilam sings of power and sublime beauty, of capricious masculinity and a fierce, burning passion laced with hints of danger. Only after about 15 minutes does this unruly leather meld with dry and narcotic rose and spices, creating a captivating and unique olfactory palette redolent of a freshly bought leather trenchcoat. Sweet and smoky tobacco, combined with earthy and damp patchouli, weaves an intriguing background for this creation, giving it an extra dose of potency and attractiveness and balancing the indomitable leather accord into a soft purr as this beast dries down. If you've considered buying Tom Ford's Ombre Leather, you must try Cuir Nilam first. Yes, Cuir Nilam costs twice as much, but in this case, the complexity, projection, sillage, and triple duration on the skin completely justify the higher price point. Moreover, this astonishing creation is in all aspects far more unique and daring than Ombre Leather, even the Parfum edition. Lastly, I don't want to say that Ombre Leather is a bad or lacking creation, far from it, but in a 1-on-1 match against Cuir Nilam, it loses in every round.Yes, women can pull this one off as well, but it's predominantly a masculine-leaning fragrance with a lot of attitude. Works wonders in all seasons, except the high heat. I'm a lover of leather fragrances and this is my absolute favourite so far. All in all, Cuir Nilam is an exceptional creation for an extraordinary man.

Cuir Nilam is the most interesting leather fragrance I own. To me, it feels like walking into a damp old crypt with dark leather hanging on the walls. There is this cold stone, old wood, resin, herbs, and smoky darkness in the air that makes it feel mysterious and almost creepy, but in a beautiful way. It is not dirty or gross. It feels gothic, smooth, and strangely captivating. Compared to Tom Ford Ombré Leather, Cuir Nilam feels much more unique. Ombré Leather is more direct and easier to understand as a leather fragrance, while Cuir Nilam feels smoother, cooler, damper, and more atmospheric. Ombré Leather smells more like polished black leather. Cuir Nilam smells like leather, herbs, wood, and resin have been sitting inside a cold stone room for years. That damp herbal quality is part of what makes it feel so special. Even though the fragrance is darker and more mysterious, the leather itself feels clean, blended, and smooth. It does not have that sharp obvious leather-jacket smell. It feels like a full environment built around leather. For me, Cuir Nilam is one of the best fragrances in my collection. It is dark, smooth, damp, herbal, atmospheric, and memorable. It takes leather and turns it into a full scene, which is exactly why I love it.

Very sexy fresh and uplifting scent.. initial spray i get cardamom and violet then the leather come up.. a tobacco and green patchouly is so smooth in the background.. the blending is very good! I instantly by a full bottle after testing fullwear on my vial.. the leather maybe is a bit like godolphin or tuscan leather but cuir nilam is not same with both..

You can really tell is an Ombré leather inspiration but instead of violet leaves or Jasmine, this has a deep and strong rose note making the drydown something else, not OL anymore but just Rose and Patchouli. Good projection depends on the number of sprays you do, same with sillage. 8/10

Beautiful, dense, mysterious leather/rose/patchouli perfume. Not for the faint hearted, this had very powerful sillage and longevity for me. Rich and sexy. Not the most original, for sure, but well blended and good quality.

Yes, the leather here definitely has similarities with TF Ombré Leather Parfum, but that’s just evident in the opening. The tobacco/patchouli start to come through shortly thereafter and genuinely transform the scent profile. The outcome is a very dry but pleasant scent that stands on its own when compared to TF OL. It also lacks the fruity sweetness from the TF Tuscan Leather, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing.. it’s just different. I also do not pick up any rose here. Leather, tobacco, violet and patchouli stand out the most (in that order), followed by subtle hints of cardamom. Is it redundant to own Cuir Nilam and any of OL/TL or the scents inspired by them? Yes and no. “Yes” because CN definitely hints at OLP’s leather and violet accords, and to some people may be a little too similar to own both. “No” because the tobacco here plays a huge role in transforming this into a different scent, and to a relatively trained nose, this difference can be appreciated enough to own it. I would not recommend blind buying this scent due to the price (unless you get a really good deal), and I can easily imagine a number of people would find this to be a little too similar to TF. You truly need to enjoy the dry leather/tobacco scent to justify purchasing this perfume.

یک بخش در شروع عطر برام گُنگه و نمی‌تونم به این نت ها ربطش بدم و اون هم یک فضای عجیب و کُهنه طور در کنار چرم و رُزه خیلی سعی کردم برگ بنفشه رو بهش نسبت بدم اما با فاکتور های ذهنی من فاصله داشت و بیشتر حس این رو داشتم که برگ بنفشه در ترکیب با نت های دیگه،واکنش ای رخ داده و رایحه ای جدید خلق شده از طرفی هم شاید تاثیر تنباکو و پچولی در ایجاد این بوی کهنه و کمی ادویه ای هست این فضا مختص شروع عطره و به مرور کم رنگ میشه شباهت های قابل توجه ای با امبر لدر تام فورد داره اما نقطه‌ی اصلی تمایزشون رُز هست که به نظرم اینجا خیلی باحال و قشنگ شده و فارغ از شروع عطر که گاهی لذت بخش بود و گاهی روی مخ؛میانه و پایان کوییغ نیلام رو بیشتر از امبر لدر دوست داشتم همون چرم امبر لدر،براق و واکس خورده به همراه رز و البته تنباکو و پچولی در کل کار خوبیه ولی برای کسی که با امبرلدر اُنس گرفته یک گزینه‌ی اضافی هست احتمالا و نیازی بهش نداره ************** scent:7.5/10 longevity:7/10 sillage:7/10 purchase value:3/10 ******** overall:6.1/10

I used to be obsessed with this perfume until I got my hands on a bottle of Le Vestiaire des Parfums Tuxedo by Yves Saint Laurent. To me Cuir Nilam is like a more animalic, less mass appealing version of Tuxedo, very nearly identical to each other with a difference of maybe one or two notes. The only real issue I have with Cuir Nilam is the animalic accord that rears its unpleasant head when it is sprayed on clothing and given a while to settle, which then takes centre stage.

It's a familiar leather but there's a depth and sweetness that makes it vibrant and a tad bit more memorable. Great for someone out looking for a leather scent, in case you don't have one yet! I like it and I think it's good at what it's trying to do. Whereas other leathers usually to me feel like they weigh you down, this one's brighter and rounder!

Leather and cypriol forward for sure. There is a sweetness that's hard to place. Kind of fruity and kind of floral. Also maybe something aquatic. Cucumber melon adjacent. The overall vibe is like an almost oud freshie? Slightly too dark to really get there, but it's close enough to be interesting.

I have a bottle of this and to my nose, this smells like TF Ombre Leather with fresh green patchouli. It’s like TF OL 75% + 25% patch. Making Cuir Nilam more interesting than TF OL. TF OL is slightly more mass pleasing but Cuir Nilam gets you noticed more.

Its Ombre Leather, but instead of that powdery jasmine, you get a dark rose accord. Its also greener as well, due to the amped up violet leaf. At some point I even smell truffle, and slight hints of black orchid. Clearly lacks in the originality department but it's refined and very well composed. Deeper, more natural and less synthetic than its successors. Unfortunately, it leans feminine, but then again so does ombre leather (courtesy of jasmine) to my nose. I kept waiting for the tobacco to show up. It never did.

“Cuir Nilam” is a nice perfume, unfortunately there's absolutely nothing innovative about it. It smells Rose, Cypriol, Laos Oud, Saffron, Papyrus, Iris, Juniper... For perfume enthusiasts seeking a straightforward leather fragrance, this might be worth exploring. The leather is prominent right from the opening, much stronger than in other fragrances, but the lack of animalic notes keeps things bearable (I'm looking at you, Cuoium 🙄). The opening is challenging for me: the leather is at its strongest while the cardamom and violet leaf give it an oddly sharp and slightly metallic quality. Thankfully, the dry down is actually quite nice 🙂 The rose softens the leather, while the tobacco adds a warm, comforting depth. I’m not too familiar with the leather perfume space, so I can’t say much more, but I respect what it’s trying to do.
