Istanbul, My first and most loved fragrance from the brand "Atelier Rebul", first of all I would like to talk about the brand for those who are not familiar with it. Atelier Rebul is actually founded as a pharmacy in 1895 at Istanbul, which than brought to Istanbul the lavender cologne in 1938. After 120 years of experience the known brand modernized itself and started to sell grooming products and especially perfume. Now turning back to Istanbul I can clearly say that it is one of my most bellowed fragrances. First of all the old school spray mechanism of the 125ml bottle is so pleasing and a very nice eye catching detail that I love a lot. After you spray the fragrance using the charming pump, the aspect that makes it so special is probably the opening. From the first smell the fragrance hugs your soul and never let go for a long time. The perfume has a very unique smell which is highly distinguishable, many people explains that it is inspired by the smell of spice bazaars in Istanbul but I would argue that it reminds me mostly of the flamboyant lifestyle lived in ottoman places. The smell makes me feel myself siting in a room decorated with luxury carpets and nice wooded chairs on a beautiful cold winter day having a chat with a loved one while sitting next to the cheminée which is slowly burning. It is just beautifully attracting your body for a second smell every time. At last I can say that it is a perfect warming, charming fragrance for a nice winter/fall day or for a breezing summer night. I would 100% recommend everyone to try it at the first possible chance they get. It is even worth a trip to the beautiful city of Istanbul if they can't find it on their own city. For an experienced perfume consumer Atelier Rebul Istanbul EDP will be familiar, and not unique. In the past decade these type of scents became so popular, that it started to lose uniqueness. There are some niche and designer scents capturing very similar accords, i find this similar along the lines of Costume National Homme with hints of Tom Ford Black Orchid, Rasasi Waaw, Penhaligon's Paithani or Halfeti, Boucheron's Oud de Carthage, Chopard's Oud Malaki etc. Nevertheless it is perfect value for the price and presentation of the bottle. For winter you can’t go wrong with this one. It has warm cinnamon, cedar and cloves accompanied by saffron and patchouli. That creates a warm alluring fragrance that is good for close encounters, and i must say quite unisex. Atelier Rebul (as introduced very well by @yarkin_oz below), is a fairly new house deriving from a very old pharmacy from Istanbul expanding to Europe and already have stores in several Belgium cities like Antwerp, Ghent, Brugge, Hasselt, Leuven...So for Europe it is not out of reach and definitely a must-try when came across. I am eagerly waiting a store opening in the Netherlands. Most of their fragrances are not listed on Fragrantica yet.

To this day this is the best fragrance I've ever smelled in my life. So aromatic, fresh, complex, but still sweet and so loveable! To my nose totally feminine leaning, but PERFECTLY wearable for anyone. Fell in love upon first sniff/whiff. The perfume smells oriental, but not in an extreme, heavy, nauseating way some middle eastern fragrances can sometimes smell. It is so addictive, you just want to keep your nose close to it. I do not get the comparisons this fragrance gets on fragrantica at all: Black orchid (no resemblance whatsoever), Lattafa Mohra (its repulsive), etc. I haven't, however, bought this fragrance, and I still cannot quite figure out why. I think it's because I don't want to make the fragrance my own, don't want to become too used to it. I want to keep it as a kind of secret that I can sometimes smell when I encounter a stranger wearing it, or if i pass by a store that sells it. It has to stay the way it is and I will not let my nose get used to this.

MY GOODNESS. This is so scrumptious, extraordinary, perfectly unisex, a little piquant... I can't stop stuffing my nose in where I sprayed on my skin. Honest to the universe, I'm shocked at how perfect this is for me in colder months. The longevity and sillage is truly the best I've encountered. This perfume lasts forever! Now for how it develops on my skin... First spray... Cloves, cinnamon, saffron, sandalwood, cedar.. delicious non-sickening sweetness... In 15 minutes the vanilla, patchouli, amber base emerges mixing in with the rest of the notes...the oud is there..but fainter than the rest of the notes.. The black orchid and violets shows themselves as time develops.. 6 hours later & it's still strong as ever on my skin...the primary notes are cedar, sandalwood, cloves, vanilla, amber, a hint of musk... THIS is just SO DARN IRRESISTIBLE. On the TOP of my to-buy list. I need it. I want it.

I’ve discovered this perfume in a very unexpected way - after visiting some cafe in Istanbul, they’ve given us some scented cologne tissues to use after a meal. And that was a love from the first sniff for me. Afterwards i’ve tracked the brand and their products, and decided to purchase a 12 ml flask for myself. I personally mostly enjoy woody/spicy/resinous fragrances and they work the best with my own skin chemistry. Istanbul has a strong clove opening, and a lovely woody dry down. On my skin it lasts 4-6 hours but sticks a way longer to my clothes. It does remind me of Tom Ford Black Orchid but less powdery and way spicier. Plus, in my opinion (especially for the price!) it performs much better compared to a lot of “big name” perfumes. Overall, I’d definitely recommend it for people who enjoy oriental/spicy perfumes for daily wear.

This right here is a super underrated rose/oud scent. Not a lot of people talk about this but they should. It is in a similar realm as Penhaligon's Halfeti but with a soapy and more floral undertone. It is a very elegant example of a middle eastern perfume. Not nearly as dense, rich and boastful as many Arabic offerings. I also really like those scents but not everything needs to fill a room with its presence. It evokes the idea of a sophisticated Turkish gentleman. The longevity is average at around 6h but it fits the more subtle profile of this fragrance. The sillage is moderate.

What a great discovery on my trip to Istanbul! I bought 3 travel spray cause i didn’t want to carry the 125ml bottle on the plane (why don’t they make a 50-75-100?) It smells like a turkish shisha/narguilé with apricot/apple and a lot of cloves and cinnamon. The amber gives a solid sweet resinous base. To have an idea, it’s like spicebomb but with more refined ingredients, more unisex and with more cloves :-) Worth a try or a blind buy if you like fruity ambery spices perfumes.

It smells like a warmer/Middle-Eastern version of Commodity's Book. If you layer Commodity's Book with more wood & spice this is basically what you should get. ----- If you swush this in your mouth a little, not literally, but just let it move around, you'll get something nicotinic about it like a subtle skunky tobacco. --- Ok, here's what it is, it's Black Orchid & Chanel No 5 with a generous dusting of cinnamon and the faintest hint of tobacco.

Baştan söyleyeyim black orchid ile alakası yok. Koku Türkiye'nin birçok yerinde duyulabilecek bir koku özellikle Hatemoğlu mağazasının kokusu mesela. Extrait olanı daha baharatlı ve kalıcı. Kalıcılık konusunda sıkıntı yaşayanlar onu tercih edebilir. Ülkemizde böyle kaliteli ve şahane parfüm üreten bir firmanın olması gurur verici. Genel olarak baharatlı ve hafif odunsu bir parfüm. Yoğunluklu tarçın ve karanfil baskın geliyor.

Literally, somewhere between Black Orchid Perfume and Costume National Homme, but mostly Black Orchid. Take the black orchid, and soften up it with some sweet notes and bright it up then you get this. Good Longetivity, good projection, very fun sprayer :D. With this price and fan of black orchid i will definetly buy it again :) But it is not as rich as black orchid and it is not a very layered fragrance as a downside.

I have this as EDC and i have no idea about EDP. EDC is great. Its spicy and a little bit sweet. Well balanced. Longevity is insane for EDC. 24 hours and still on my sweatshirt. I dont say i am in love with this scent. This is the most spicy perfume/cologne of my collection. Considering the longevity with the price i paid this is a good buy. Price : 10 Longevity :10 Scent : 6 Again i have no idea about the EDP.

Bende hem kolonyası hem de parfümü var. Çok güzel ve zengin bir koku ama daha çok maskulen bir tavrı olduğunu söyleyebilirim. Bu yüzden nerdeyse hiç kullanmadım, evde boş boş duruyor. Sıktığım zaman tenimde iki gün kalmıştı, paltomda ise günlerce sabit kalmıştı. Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille'ye benziyor biraz, kokuyu bilenler için referans olabilir. Kesinlikle başarılı bir parfüm 9/10

This review is for the EDC, not for perfume. Nice scent, aromatic, dense and rich. Different from others EDC in the market. Poor proyection, and average duration of a ramdom EDC. Now is very hot in Spain, almos 36o Celsius, take it in consideration. Sweet, spicy, woody. All in a elegant bubble. really tasty fragrance, I like it very much. Blind buy.

Warm, spicy, and a little bit boozy, this concoction is an absolute delight for those brisk fall days when you want to battle the cold with more than just a coat. Lingers for the whole day, and I've never had as many compliments with any other perfumes as I do with this one. One spritz gets you very far. Absolutely LOVE!

Istanbul is a Good cologne however I prefer and choose Costume National Homme EDP and Parfum and they are both excellent performance and sillage. Longevity of CN perfumes are in beast mode. In Türkiye we can find CN prices are very lower (not fake) compared to Atelier Rebul Istanbul

I was surprised when I found out that this little gem is very close to PH by blood concept 90%.I own both, but for quartet of price. I love this type of scents, actually I own quite few frags from AR and most of them very good. Worth every penny

i stayed at a hotel in istanbul and the body care they had were in this scent, when i tell you this is the most creamy powdery woody sweet scent its AMAZING, i plan on buying the perfume when i go this year.

I love it so much. Reminds me of the vibrant and romantic city of Istanbul. Bought the body lotion and perfume. I even made a vow, once the lotion almost finish, am going to book a flight to Istanbul😆

Beastmode oriental! Spicy, sandalwood and floral cologne for fall and winter (spring?). Cloves with sandalwood stand out. Drydown is with more cedar and violets, lasts all day. Fine, also for work. 88

This will remind you of the mall of Dubai. The is unisex edp that you only need a few "fizz" and you will feel it on you for the whole day. I tested it out with one bottle and preferred two more.

This is an unique, powerful fragrance. Totally unisex. Warm spicy and I think it is suitable for winter or fall.

Woody, Cinnamon, Cloves Wouldn't like as much, if I'd actually have to pay for this. Let's take the blindfold off - this fragrance is a bit too overpriced for what it is, it isn't really versatile and comes in use for more casual wear than formal wear - anyway, I got this as a gift on a concert with an orchestra so who cares, let's review it :) I have the Eau de Cologne 25ml version This actually has a really nice defined scent. If i had to imagine a scenery, it smells like chilling at a fireplace and eating cinnamon cookies. I feel like this vibe just hits right in fall, but in other seasons? Not really, It's not a versatile fragrance at all to be honest. This isn't for anything really serious, like a big formal meeting, performing on a big concert or any other special occasions. It's good for casual daily wear, going out and for about everything that isn't completely formal. Reason behind this is that it's simply too sweet and relies to a scenery more than character. Wearing this on formal occasions could be unappropriate, since the sweetness could throw people off in thinking you're wearing a women's fragrance. Skin scent might also shift a bit as time goes on and we all know, that formal occasions are never short. This scent is very unisex and doesn't contain the right notes that would make this scent versatile and masculine. Has a bit of bergamot, but in combination with jasmine, cloves, cinnamon and safron, it's barely noticable. Makes sense, goes after scenery - Istanbul. Nothing wrong with that, but I just think there are many other fragrances that do this job way better - just for thought. Overall, I like this fragrance and got a lot of compliments with it. If you get a good deal on this and fall is your favorite season, go for it! If not, just get something more general like Le Male from JPG or Cuba Gold (10€ 1-1 dupe of Le Male) and you're covered for all seasons. This is a cool niche fragrance that will make you smell absolutely delicious in fall!

Adilcim çok kasmışsın, bu kadar incinmene gerek yok. Karakteristik olarak da benziyorlar. İçerik benzer olunca bu zaten kaçınılmaz bir şey. Aynı oyuncular oynuyor diye her film aynı olmaz, berbat bir argüman kurmuşsun tebrik ederim hadi gel detaylandırayım da neden berbat olduğunu gör. 2 filmde de oyunculardan bağımsız konu olarak (yani içerik olarak - tıpkı parfüm içeriği gibi) diyelim ki romantik komedi işleniyorsa bu 2 filmin izleyiciye aynı tadı vermesi aşırı olası. Romantik komedideki tipik unsurlar "eski sevgili krizi, kıskançlık, kavga&barışma, yanlış anlaşılma" vs diye daha uzar gider. Bu unsurları istediğin kadar birbirinden farklı oyuncularla yansıt ekrana ama fark etmez, izleyici farklı bir mesaj almaz. Yani oyuncularla alakası yok, içeriğiyle alakası var. Black orchid'i beğenen biri İstanbul'u da beğenir. İstanbul'u beğenen biri de aynı şekilde black orchid'i beğenir. Sevmeyenler de ikisini de tercih etmez. Tekrar ediyorum birebir değiller ne koku olarak ne de karakteristik olarak "AMA" yakın hissiyat vermesi çok doğal. Benzemiyorlar demek "bakın ben farklı düşünüyorum" zorlamasından başka bir şey değil.

I bought a 10 ml from this along with a 100ml Oud Royal in Istanbul. Unique stuff, with good quality, and I think it catches the spirit of the city fairly well - as it does smell like a bazaar spice shop. It does shows some similarity to Black Orchid, which is one of my favourite fragrances ever, but it has that very prominent, little bit cloying clove note in the opening and lacks the very delicious chocolate notes from the dry down. Surprisingly this works better on my skin in warmer weather, as it projects better, and gives off less cloves and cinnamon with a more floral edge. I rarely wear this, as for me it leans a little bit feminine. Performance is very good, easy 12 hours on skin, with moderate projection and sillage. Unfortunately the extrait was not available in 10 ml size, that one is darker and more masculine.

This is a perfume that will constantly remind you of Dubai mall. It gives you this exotic arabica sort of feel but it is not as heavy and deep as those you can find in the real middle east. It is warm, slightly sweet and deep. The silage is not extreme (for silage you really need to go to brand like Amouage or Pride of the Emirates, etc), but it keeps you happy for few hours. The old-style spraying bubble also gives you a sense of "retro". I like it, but need to carry around you to re-spray during the day.

He ama en marjinal benim deyip "benzemiyorlar" diyeceksen başka :)

Türkler olarak ne kadar gerginiz böyle, her zaman her yerde! Mevzu parfüm arkadaşlar, bu kadar gerilmeye gerek yok haha, bu arada bence de hatırlatıyor TF, bende Extrait versiyonu var üstelik, ama genelleme yanlış olabilir, zira Black Orchid'i pek sevmem, bu koku ise sonbahar kışın kalın kazağıma sıkıp koklaya koklaya meditatif hale geldiğim bir koku, mmmh Kapalıçarşı'da gezmek gibi, maskülen buluyorum ama zihnimi yolculuğa çıkardığı için sırf arada sıkıyorum. Güzel kokulu günler dilerim. :)

Hello Nostalgia...this perfumes gives me that flash back memories on my lovely holiday in Istanbul,, specially the Souq ( traditional market ) in the afternoon.. strong opening ( spicy ) in the beginning that cools off beautifully after few hours. I kinda preferred the EDP then the EPC for some reason. but they are both a very pleasant fragrancies. I should say that im in love with the bottles and the packaging Over all 8/10

Smells like Costume National Home. But it is possible to feel that İstanbul is more complicated, and Costume National Homme is a bit sweeter, and you can feel easily cloves, this makes CN homme a bit darker at the same time. On the other hand, CN Homme performs better. But, Istanbul is preferable for its price(Still expensive in Turkey :) )

Delicious oriental fragrance, quite similar to Black Orchid and definitely more masculine in my case. This feels so delightful on family meetings and cold weathers. Would suggest it for indoor gatherings since the scent itself is warm relaxing.

Oldukça zarif bir koku, baharatlı ve oryental. TF Black Orchid benzeri ancak onun kadar sert değil. Kullandığım günlerde çok iyi yorumlar alıyorum.

This smelled very much like sweetened chai to my nose. It’s nice, but I think I’d get tired of wearing it for too long.

Türk arkadaşlar kapışmış burda haklı olarak. Fakat parfümü denedikten sonra fark ettim, gerçekten TF black orchied’e benziyor hatta gereğinden daha fazla benziyor arkadaşlar. Tek farkla kalıcılığı daha az. Bana İzmir Hilltown da 100 ml almam için ısrar ettiler fakat 12ml aldım kalıcılığını gün içinde anlayabilmem için sonradan bu kararın çok doğru olduğunu anladım. Bu notalar ve esanslar ile birlikte genel karakteristik nasıl oluşturuyorlar ve üzerinde ne kadar düşünüyorlar bilmiyorum bu ürünler üretilirken ama malesef taklit ürün gibi bir izlenime kapıldım. Umarım çok yanılıyorumdur.

The first moment I sprayed the perfume, I smelled a very intense clove scent. The scent is very authentic and very Istanbul smells. It can be said that cinnamon is also effective under the scent of cloves. Bergamot smell is vague. After a while, the floral scents start to become evident gradually. The smell gives you the feeling of walking in the Ottoman palace. It has a sharp feeling. I don't think it is a very suitable perfume for blind buying. I think it would be a much better perfume if the cloves were less. Overall rating 6/10

The fragrance is very subtle. It doesnt last on my skin. After 20 mins is like I've sprayed nothing. It fades away so quickly. Such a pity, because the opening is nice, nevertheless it lasts nothing. In addition to that, the material of the pump and the bottle lid is extremely poor (and for this price, 100 EUR per bottle), that after just couple of times using it I realized that it leaks everywhere. Overall, my experience with this fragrance is terrible, therefore my "dislike".

This smells straight up like pickle juice with hint of allspice. It also smells very strong, and it makes me gag. I smelled this one many times at work because people love to use it, and it genuinely makes me sick. Idk if there is anything wrong with my nose, but this smells horrible. People could straight up pour a pickle juice over their heads and I won't tell a difference in the matter of smell :(

Starts with a really dominant sweet saffron scent buried in few cinnamon rolls. Besides being warm spicy its a lot sweety too; then orchid-amber-oud combo comes off, for god's sake after saffron wipes a bit thing starts being woodier. Another one to mention is, definetly some "Dirty" burnt vanilla.

Costume National Homme'un kopyası. Kalıcılık berbat. Kıyafette dahi yarım saat. Hem de kapalı mekanda.

Yanıtım TT_Joker4 adlı arkadaşa gelsin. Tarçın, vanilya, misk... Listeyi sayınca parfümler benzeyecekse, o zaman piyasadaki yüzlerce oryantal parfüm birbirinin aynısı mı oluyor? Parfüm dünyası sadece nota listesinden ibaret değil. Kompozisyon, yoğunluk, nota geçişleri, kullanılan materyalin kalitesi, hatta marka imzası gibi onlarca parametre var. Ben “benzemiyorlar” derken içerik listesini değil, genel yapı ve hissiyatı esas aldım. Atelier Rebul İstanbul daha sıcak, daha yumuşak geçişli ve kullanımı çok daha kolay bir koku. Black Orchid ise daha karanlık, yoğun ve hatta kimileri için itici olabiliyor. Karakter farkı çok net. Senin gibi içerik listesine bakıp benzerlik iddiası sunmak, sinema afişine bakıp film yorumlamak gibi. Aynı oyuncular oynuyor diye her film aynı olmaz. Son olarak, farklı bir bakış açısı ortaya koyan herkese “marjinal olma çabası” etiketi yapıştırmak da pek sığ bir refleks. Bazen en doğru analizler, kalabalıktan farklı bakanların olur. Yani, lafı dolandırmadan söyleyeyim: kokuları okumadan konuşuyorsun, sadece nota listesi ezberliyorsun. Önce burnunu, sonra zihnini açman gerek.

spicy scents usually revolt me by their sweetness or their heaviness but i think istanbul has a great middle-way. it's spicy and kind of sweet but not sugary and not heavy at the same time. i can't quite pick specific notes but it's sweet in a way that cinnamon is. i spray it on myself when im lying in my bed looking at the phone etc. because i like to get a whiff of it from time to time. i think no one would agree but i kinda find it close to nishane hacivat. not by the notes but by the feel of the perfume. some people may find it too much for summer wear but it's good as long as it's not too hot in my opinion. lovely scent.

It is a direct replica of Costume National Homme, no similarity to TF Black Orchid. Slightly more synthetic with less discernable notes, but quality is respectable. Better than moderate longevity/projection, but not as potent as the original CNH. Cologne version is weaker, but good for the price. However, it is hasher than the EDP version when first sprayed and may cause headache for sensitive people. Still, for the price, the cologne version is an absolute steal! For an original, more natural and "extremely" potent oriental fragrance with insane longevity and niche quality, check Oud Royal by Atelier Rebul.
