Robinson Bear

I can't understand why there are so many bad reviews or rates. Robinson Bear is a very magical watery-anise calone smell. It has that retro element with very modern touch. It's like a green AdG with the best possible vibe in that. It's not like a watermelon, the anise and the juniper makes very pleasent aroma. On me the sillage is very good. Like 8.5/10 almost all day. Projection is pretty good. I don't get noseblind to it and can feel it 12+ hours easily. 10/10 Longevity is really great. 12+ hours on skin and several days on clothes. 10/10 Robinson Bear makes a statement and it's rememberable scent in a close to aquatic genre.

Opens with a nautical blast of lightly tropical santolina, smooth anise and an airy, honey-dew melon like, colone. The opening feels fresh, luxurious and expensive. Like an exclusive 5 star holiday in the Caribbean. The mid brings aromatic juniper, a transparent cedar and sweet earthy patchouli. The dry down maintains the airy, luxury beach holiday feel. A big hit for Atkinsons.

Warning: The fragrance is not suitable for blind buying, and a trial is required before purchasing. The fragrance is purely masculine and begins with a powerful anise top note. If you are not a fan of the anise note, stay away from this fragrance. The anise note lasts for about an hour, noticeably dominating the rest of the aromatic notes, then the fragrance calms down and enters a new, more enjoyable and deeper stage consisting of Calone notes (a synthetic note composed to reproduce the light, airy, and aqueous feel of watermelon/melon) and juniper berry, but here in the form of a crisp, unripe green fruit. The rest of the notes mentioned in the fragrance description are barely noticeable. Purity and quality: The fragrance contains ingredients that are very pure and of very high quality. The performance of the perfume is above average, and it can last for several continuous hours noticeably. * Longevity: for more than 8 hours * Sillage: at least for 3 hours noticeably The world-famous perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin, the fragrance maker, does not have a middle point in his perfume creation. Either the fragrance is a huge success, such as Wanted Azzaro, Patchouli Mania Essential Parfums, and Armani Prive Vert Malachite Giorgio Armani, or the fragrance falls and does not receive enough attention from fragrance lovers, such as Robinson Bear Atkinsons. Atkinsons is known for creating luxury niche fragrances. James Atkinson opened his soap and perfume shop in London in 1799. He became the personal perfumer to the British royal family in 1826. The packaging has a regal feel and is among the finest I've seen in the niche perfume world. The fragrance bottle is extremely luxurious, with a luxurious metal cap that references the prestige of the luxury Atkinsons perfume house. The fragrance retails for $190 for a 100ml bottle on the official Atkinsons Luxury Perfumes website. Conclusion: The fragrance is not aquatic or fresh, but it is a strange, volatile, and uncomplicated fragrance, but it is not suitable for everyone.

I am a huge fan of aquatics, and Robinson Bear, although not groundbreaking, is a very pleasant, mineralic aquatic. I find it to be somewhere between Profumum's Acqua Di Sale and Penhaligon's Blasted Heath, or maybe a little like Heeley's Sel Marin (although without the slight coriander seed/spice I get from that). All of these lean toward a 'natural' presentation, more evocative of a quiet, misty morning on a cold beach than of a hot summer spent at the pool. Robinson Bear, in particular, feels to me to be just as suitable for cool weather as for hot. The anise note in Robinson Bear works well with the Calone, which I don't find to be overbearing (is that a pun?) as in some other aquatics. There's also more than a hint of something that reminds me of fresh cilantro leaves, which gives a similar, but lighter, impression of the strong (and divisive!) seaweed note in Blasted Heath. This note fades quite a bit after the first 30 minutes or so. If you are into this style of aquatic, I think this is a great deal -- it can be found for considerably less than some of the other fragrances I mentioned, and it holds its own.

First I will say kudos to the house for taking a chance on an unorthodox perfume. I'm sampling the whole house and I've gained respect for Atkinson's for their creativity, and not always "playing it safe". Some people see calone and they instantly dismiss the fragrance, but I enjoy it when it's used in moderation, and when it's used creatively, like in Zoologist Snowy Owl. This is not Calone bomb. This reminds me of Lake Tahoe during the summer. You can smell the lush, rich forest while you're sunning on the lakeshore. It's an interesting dichotomy between the pine, redwood trees, and the crystal clear water. It really works and you get the best of both worlds. The juniper is clear and very realistic, lending a mastic feeling, and the synthetic oakmoss gives it a hint of the forest floor. Reminds me of Ex Nihilo Citizen X meets Profumum Roma Acqua Di Sale. I think the mastic juniper twist gives this some versatility aside from a spring and summer perfume. Scent 7/10 Performance 7/10 🌊 🌲 🌅
