Shine Despite Everything

When there’s about 50 different opinions of ‘smells like’ comments on one fragrance page, what it tells me is that it actually smells like nothing else. Spicy, sweet and gourmand but oh so smooth with all its complexity. I think the first 5 minutes on skin are not it for me but after a very short time, it opens out into the most incredibly beautiful and complex fragrances. As a smell, it’s hard to even describe, it needs to be experienced. It’s one that is felt. It really is beautiful. I wouldn’t say it ‘smells like’ but it lives in the same sphere as BDK Impadia, Initio Can’t Get Enough, Amouage Purpose 50 and Decision. Sillage, longevity and scent are al 10 for me. One of my new found favourites from 2025. Class.

This might become my favourite fragrance discovery of 2025. There aren't many fragrances that impressed me as much in the past as Shine Despite Everything. It's gorgeous, unique and addictive. If I had to compare it to something, I'd say it gives me the VIBE of Amouage Guidance (46), but it's just the vibe. The similarity is not in the scent itself, but in the fact that it's a complex, powerful, beautiful fragrance with notes that are impossible to pick apart. It's sweet, woody, spicy and slightly floral. I have never smelled anything like this. Huge love from me.

I have just found a new favourite fragrance. Been complimented by complete strangers. Sillage definitely there however not offensive. The frankincense , caramel and vanilla make it delicious. The rose makes it elegant. Lasts the whole day. Absolutely love this. Definitely unisex although the bottle is meh with the picture on. Don't let that put you off. This is a winner. I get Althair similarities.

Atkinsons Shine Despite Everything is a beautiful spicy, sweet rose that somehow manages to feel both confident and sexy while also being insanely comforting. I’ve become completely hooked on it and find myself reaching for it constantly. It’s also become one of those fragrances I automatically compare other perfumes to, which probably says everything about how much I love it.

This is giving DOM energy idk smells like latex and spicy vintage candles/ wax to my nose, smells mysterious/poudre I also smell something like gun powder, i imagine wearing this if I’m dressed in a suit and a briefcase and my gun inside in some hotel hallway. I don’t usually like oud but it’s very subtle and elegantly done in this one.

I got this from the airport, and it’s really really nice! I would describe it as Ganymede with floral touch. It lingers in the air in the first couple of hours. And it stays strong and I could still smell it on my arm the next morning. Its actually a very beautiful scent, highly recommended to anyone.

one of the best and unique perfume i have ever smelled. its like a 2nd skin but addictive and very good performance as well. works for both genders but in my opinion i like to smell it on my husband more. very very interesting and tasteful fragrance. like i cant stop smelling it

Smells very good but would suit an older woman, so I will not be buying this while I'm young. My boyfriend had the same first impression of this scent, and he had not heard my opinion on it beforehand.

omg this has to be the besssst. I absolutely looove the creamy vanilla opening. It just melts onto the skin, with that hint of spices feels so luxurious. 10/10

this is such an underrated gem from Atkinsons. It has sensual, warm and cozy vibe with some powdery touch from orris. It is totally unisex.

Familiar, flattering and sensual vanilla perfume. It gives off a Monica Bellucci vibe. This perfume would suit her very well.

Beautiful and very sensual all year round parfum. Vanilla and caramel are not overwhelming and sickening, good mix.

Powdery Ganymede. It doesn't contain oud!

I was thinking of getting Hugo Boss Elixir but this has the spicy sweet tingly loving rose essence. Opens super sweet rosy with spice, addictive beautiful, feminine leaning but a signature scent that could be rocked by a man too, under 40 years old though. It has a playful floral vibe Has a resinous hit and more change/character than Elixir but idk if that's a good or bad thing, 30 mins in its becoming more citrusy with a background of spice. The dominance of rose fades away but sweetness remains. In the dry down it has a generic room refreshener accord with an airated rose and the shine breaks apart compared to Hugo Boss The Scent Elixir Intense (old bottle/formulation) It feels easily nose-blinding to me. It almost won a full bottle but Elixir is cheaper and better package in the entire life of the spray, I LOVE it but the cheaper alternative captures my heart more. I'd buy it if I didn't know about The Scent Elixir or already had it. TESTED ON SKIN

This fragrance belongs to Atkinsons’ Reserve Collection. Its inspiration comes from the stage presence of the legendary French actress Sarah Bernhardt in the late 19th century. The structure combines spices, amber, caramel, iris, and vanilla. The opening spice mainly comes from allspice and turmeric. Some people describe it as feeling hot on the skin, but to me it simply feels warm. Within that warmth there is also a faint smoky, mysterious nuance from incense. As the scent develops, the warmth deepens. Caramel and amber bring a soft, milky sweetness. Iris adds a subtle powdery texture, while the rose is almost imperceptible. The drydown settles into a woody vanilla base that is particularly appealing—soft, enveloping, and long-lasting. Overall it leans toward a warm woody oriental vanilla style with a slight density, making it especially suitable for autumn and winter.

Olfactive Diary Entry #45 The saleswoman: "Do you like oud?" Me: "Definitely not." The saleswoman: "Well, let me introduce you to this one, it contains oud but..." And I do ger her point. The oud in this is quite well masked by other notes a heavy vanilla, a thick toffee, some rose and other woody notes. It reminds me of a smoke room with leather and boose. It's a heavy fragrance with a lot of body to it. Not a fragrance for me but am sure it could compliment others very well. Completely unisex. The bottle though? It looks so cheap! For that price point I would expect something more qualitative instead of glass with a cracked gold finish with a sticker on it.

When I bought "born for eternity" they gave me 2 samples of that one. I just sprayed once couple of weeks ago on my wrist and I liked the smell (at least the dry down), so today I decided to give it a shot.It's def more famine fragrance, opening is little bit sharp but so far it's stays well on the skin.I don't really feel the rose (and I like rose), i feel the vanilla and the caramel.It is not something I will buy but it is interesting, the fragrance is giving me vibes of luxury lodge in a nice winter hotel where people are eating desserts. lol. Very cool, the name suits it well.

Today I wore this and one of my co-workers aggressively sniffed the whole office to get to the source of that "amazing" smell. Needless to say, the projection is very good and so is the longevity! For me personally, it smells very good, but it doesn't feel quite like me. If it does for you, then I'm envious!

Saffron isn't listed thu it's the most dominant note in this fragrance, it's listed on the bottle itself, you can see it at the bottom tag. Similar saffron profile you find in Mauboussin - star "closest to this" Oman luxury - caden Born to stand out - drunk saffron If you have one, the rest is redundant. Listed notes are messed up, on the bottle, pimento, ambrofix, rose, orris and tonka beans aren't listed, saffron and iris are listed. Pleasant and warm, good winter fragrance, no question.

I need to get a sample of this SOMEHOW. Crazy amazing scent, interesting but not polarizing or controversial. It just smells like hugging a beautiful woman who only uses natural cosmetic products. I don’t even know how to explain it but it’s just peaceful, clean and not your basic floral perfume. Keep in mind that I only smelt it on the tester paper sadly, but so far so good!

L ho provato per caso a Livigno in vacanza e mi aveva catturato la bottiglia caratteristica, il nome e i colori... una volta provato l ho comprato subito! Costa parecchio per molti, ma per me ... li vale. Si sente molto l incenso con quel non so che di “liquirizioso” dopo diverse ore sento ancora delle scie un po’ più morbide con la vaniglia. Mi piace molto!

A little bit of a burn to the skin upon application makes the pimento known. First impressions: something fresh, spiced and a bit bubbly, which must be coming from the frankincense - though I did wonder if that was from the Ambrosia. The rose is a lovely touch. It quickly develops into warm, earthy, sweet caramel mixed with amber. Silage is very good.

This reminds me of Rosendo Mateu No 5, but without feeling too dirty. It is sexy, mysterious and quite polarising, so definitely not a safe blind buy.The incense and spices give it a dark, complex character, but it smooths out beautifully after some time on the skin. It feels sensual, unique and memorable, but it is not a fragrance for everyone.

In looooove! Such a juicy and mouthwatering fruity rose. It’s a very popular profile right now, but I feel like it’s one of the best fragrances you can find within this category. Absolutely stunning and well balanced gourmand rose with fresh and spicy undertones. My ig: scent.guide

It smells powdery gourmand, with lots of vanilla, praline and iris. Heavy on tonka bean, strong almond note in the opening. Very long lasting, but linear. Nice overall, but not for this price point.

None of the “this fragrance reminds me of” listed smell like each other ! This must be a unique fragrance.

This scent is unforgettable. A bold name and it lives up to it it's in my top 3 of all times 10/10

This is a combination of Baby cat and Purpose 50. But for the price, it's really good.
