Futuros

I love when a fragrance can be so absurdly charming like Futuros. Let's face it: this one wasn't exactly sold at the counter of a Neiman-Marcus. Parfums Daniel Aubusson broke on the scene with 1984's Histoire D'Amour, which received its own cult-status, but its second release three years later seemed destined to be regarded as more of an adolescent novelty. The bottle itself for some reason reminds me of a motion picture released the same year, Batteries Not Included, looking as if it would be the home base of the Fix-Its. Rather than be relegated to recesses of rack stores and Ebay deadstock sales until it faded into complete obscurity, Futuros has found newfound appreciation from fragheads on the hunt for oakmoss-heavy yesterday men's scents. This cognoscenti recalls a "simpler" pre-IFRA-restriction age of traditional values, when "men were men" and all that other rose-colored, myopic garbage. Yet, the fragrances that are elevated by this sect often are deserving of more examination than just precious clutching and waxing poetic. Futuros is a compact cinnamon-clove-spicy, warm green, and somewhat sweet chypre that would dominate men's frags in the late 80s to as late as 1992 (see Aubusson Homme). There is a strong sensation of tarragon as well, which makes for a great lead-in to the dusky, smoky, oak-moss heavy base. The quality of the fragrance belies the quirks of external appearance: it is a mellow, yet persistent hum, lacking the coarseness of some of its contemporaries. I actually rather prefer it over another curiosity-turned-cult-fave, Balenciaga Pour Homme, which to me seems like a leftover mod from the Futuros drafts.

Ramsey and his love of old school cinnamon sent me here lol. So i want to say first and foremost...i dont reccomend you buy any of the edt/aftershave packs that are floating around, because...well...theres weird stuff floating in the aftershaves ive seen. Theres barely if any alcohol in them so they havent aged well at all. But on to the fragrance which IS in great shape. Basically what you get here is alot of clove and cinnamon, alot of real oakmoss, and i agree with a previous reviewer about the cumin, albeit its a touch of cumin thats blended extremely harmoniously with the cinnamon and clove. This isnt complicated, but it does smell fairly high quality and natural considering the price you can get this for even now. I have no reason not to reccomend this, especially if you find it cheap. Something about this actually reminds me of vintage opium for women (thats a good thing) P.s. i have non ifra oakmoss absolute, and this juice is the same dark green color when i spray. Just more evidence of the high and very noticeable oakmoss content others and myself have mentioned.

Oakmoss NUKE! The strongest I have ever smelled. @Glyph is absolutely right in his description. Must must must get while prices are fair. The clove is mild relative to Jacomo de Jacomo (a 3 vs 10 in relative terms) but I detect cumin or tarragon (a la Smalto another must have in my opinion) and of course all this rests on the 80s level leather base. Absolutely STUNNING under the radar for anyone serious. I never heard of this in the 80s but then again I was not really paying attention. The "smell alike" is wrong regarding OMS but closer to Quorum.

This is great oldschool scent,masculine chypre,very similar to Jacques Bogart OMS.Starts off too strongly for me and spice-woody-pine notes dominate.I get warm&dark leather,oakmoss and big dose oriental spices,cumin too.This is very potent - i only ever use 3 sprays maximum,longevity is very good last well over 9-12 hours.Drydown is fantastic:woody smoke support all the other notes. I love it!!Go and get one,if you are a classic parfume lover,i'm sure AUBUSSON it's for you.

It is mostly a spicy leafy green fragrance, with woody undertones. The leather only appears in the base, but is dark and smoky (oakmoss). It has good performance on my skin. A hidden gem without a doubt!

Dark, dark, dark. Heavy oakmoss, so green and dank you feel like you're in a deep forest, with cloves and woods and spices, and of course leather at the base for even more machismo. This is the kind of ultra-masculine forested scent that was so popular in the 80s--perhaps its catching of that particular trend prompted its name, which is turn inspired the dark green bottle (which seems today more like 30s Art Deco than late 80s futurism). This is an evening kind of scent designed to display complete confidence: the message this sends is, "Stay out of my way because I know what I'm doing." So glad I have a bottle, since it's actually not like much else I have, though where I can wear it (other than at home for myself) is another question.

Although the top & early mid phases effuse the gourmand qualities of Bogart Witness & Aubusson Homme, the heart of the mid phase evokes a similar spiciness as per Puig Sybaris & Cartier Santos, and the late mid to drydown very noticeably transforms into a much dryer & dustier aura with a hint of infused smoke. Striking, distinct non-linear staging is perhaps it's most salient attribute. Quite enjoyable.

Pleasantly surprised! Blind buy and vintage (apparently) Just like stated in the notes list.. all the accords are there and smoothly blended and decent quality. Its good 👍 Yes, it's similar to, Witness - Jacques Bogart. I put up, Jacamo - De Jacomo as a similarity, because of the Cloves and overall dark, woody like composition. A reference.

Futuros is the original spice bomb for GenXer’s and above, as the younger crowd won’t appreciate or know what to do with this. Futuros’ loud opening showcases a dark oakmoss and salty spices with a sweet burned clove underneath. The spice and clove is in your face, whereas the leather base is almost equally crude with a bit of animalic nature involved. This one is untamed and a bit brash, and even though the dark green prototype bottle that’s displayed above isn’t the one you’ll receive, the actual dark blue bottle with ceramic side handles and matching cheap plastic cap suits the scent inside perfectly. I put Futuros in the love or hate category. It does what it does well for those who are seeking a challenge. As for youngsters seeking trends, best steer clear of this one.

i just blind bought this perfume, the liquid is dark green-yellowish instead of green-blue. i suspect that my perfume is not in top condition anymore. the fragrance is not strong, almost, i can't feel the presence of alcohol in it. However, I can still feel the presence of cloves, smoky notes, tobacco, and a hint of vanilla. I can't find any spicy notes here. I was expecting this perfume to give me warmth on the first sniff, but it did not. Does anyone know what's going on with this perfume? can it be revive? maybe adding few ml of alcohol would help? if you know, I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Given to me by my aunt in the early 2000's. This is a typical 80's-90's masculine powerhouse scent , big, loud, and bold. Reminds me a little bit of Robert Piguet's Bandit but with a lot more spice. Green bitter Oakmoss, spicy cloves and spices, tonka bean smooths it out slightly, with a big bold base of leather - every note is amped up and very loud and strong. Another scent that reminds me of this is Guerlain's Derby however this is more oakmossy.

A fresher and blue (but not aquatic blue) revillion french line. The blue i get is maybe because the bottle itself is blue and im being influenced by it. But there is a faint berry sweetness to my nose with the leather revililion french line or tom ford tuscan leather has

Just an FYI there seems to be cache that's made its way to market recently. EDT splash. As Seanhh1986 says, beware the supply, but I can tell you that many examples will get to you perfectly intact. This fragrance is magic with real MADE IN FRANCE strength and longevity.
