Liquid Amber

I bought this scent blind in the men’s section (it’s officially a men’s perfume, but it’s more feminine than masculine but it can work for a man, so I’d call it unisex). I mainly bought it because it was dirt cheap and my name is Amber, so I’ma sucker for anything that has my name on it 😆 Anyway I was pleasantly surprised on how pleasant and complex the scent is for that price. Longevity is also great. I would SWEAR I smell an intense dark cherry or plum scent upon first spritz, but neither is listed as an ingredient so I think it reminds me of a warm, ripe cherry scent due to the initial fruitiness in combination with cinnamon and praline. The initial scent reminds me a lot of a fruity perfume that was super popular amongst young girls when I was in my mid/late teens in the early 2000s.. maybe it was something by escada? I can’t recall and I haven’t smelled that particular scent in a very long time. Anyway the initial scent is very rich, dark and juicy. I do think there’s something ‘cheapish’ about the first whiff but after dry down the praline properly comes true and the scent balances into a more gentle, dark sweet praline scent. I do think it’s quite lovely, it has a dark and warm edge to it, but I prefer to layer it to give the scent just the extra level of elegance. It’s perfectly wearable as a standalone though. Delicious and sexy. I feel like it would work really well as a room spray or in a Reed diffuser. I personally really enjoy warm fruity scents like baked cinnamon. It makes your home feel very cosy, like you have just been baking something delicious. I can imagine this scent making your home smell like mulled wine and cherry infused pralines.

My Liquid Amber arrived today. Rather than any overt amber scent, the first spray conjures cola, leather, pink pepper, tobacco, and cinnamon to my nose. The nutmeg is certainly there, too, and there's a sweetness that doesn't recall a praline per se, more a woody tone rather like that in Serge Lutens' Feminite du Bois. The ginger is light as is the tonka, and the patchouli is barely there. There is, however, the slightest hint of almond in this combination. Overall, Liquid Amber is definitely a unisex fragrance, especially for ladies who gravitate toward something not floral and fruity. What's funny is, it does smell like a liquid; an infusion of all its notes. If you're looking for a sweeter, sexier, lighter day or night non-floral perfume for fall or winter, this is it. The bonus is that it smells much, much more expensive than its $10 price point.

I’ve been wearing this a lot lately and it’s extremely addictive. The more I wear it, the more I like it.. it just smells utterly delicious and it’s such a warm winter scent. I’ve found that it’s hard to layer, and I haven’t found anything it layers well with. Beware of layering it with other sweet fragrances because it can get VERY cloying and sickly sweet very easily. Just a warning: I think this may be discontinued. Since I like it so much I wanted to buy a second bottle, and haven’t been able to find one yet. If you see it in store, grab it now, before it becomes hard to find.

On initial spray, one fragrance came rushing to mind: Spicebomb Extreme You can grab this one at Burlington for about $10, and I have gotten more compliments from this one than most fragrances in my collection. It’s dense, sweet and so god damn inviting. Like subtly swimming in a dark sweet syrup. Just plain yummy. The praline stands out to me the most, I’d say. While being nice and sweet, it still retains an obvious masculinity. Gotta love it! Perfect for colder weather. Winter, Fall and Spring. Performance is where it needs to be, not a beast, but definitely not weak. 8/10

For such a cheap scent, this bottle is GORGEOUS! And the scent... it smells very expensive from afar, though not quite so much up close, because it sort of overwhelms the senses (at first, although the drydown is better). Similar to Layton? Yes, but also similar to Oajan. Actually, the closest comparison I can come up with is Spicebomb Extreme, but slightly less spicy. This is a high-end designer winter scent for a bottom shelf price. I'm going to need to give this more wearings to give it a thorough review, but first impressions are, well, very impressed!

Our springs and summers and even autumns in Georgia are hot so I rarely wore Liquid Amber again until this week including today, and I am feeling SO good, surrounded by the hard-to-find strong ginger note, the pepper, a sueded sweetness, and an amber that isn't powdery. The whole fragrance is more light than heavy and yet with plenty of sprays it packs the punch I wanted. It's also amazing layered with either Obsession, allowing for only 1-2 sprays of those with 6+ sprays of Liquid Amber. I'd buy this one again and again.

Wow this is what my uncle dicky smelled like in the 80s growing up. A man from brooklyn 100% italian smoked cigars had the pinky ring had the gold chains bowling shirts hung out at the casino etc... Im a woman in my late 40s and I wear this with no problem its so comforting warm and nostalgic I wish I knew what he actually wore back then when he was still alive. Today he would love this fragrance. This is why I love fragrances!! This is 10/10 for me discontinued of course but you can still find it under 100 bucks. Enjoy!

People upset its labelled for women and not men have clearly never met a lesbian. I adore this as feminine fragrance. For some reason I get a bergamot note that's unlisted but soooo delicious even though objectively it should smell like someone's uncle dicky in the 80s...but I also got it at tj maxx for like $8 so maybe my batch is a bit different LOL. While it definitely feels more winter/fall, the pink pepper (imaginary bergamot) and ginger make it fresh enough to wear it all year round.

This is actually very good for the price. ( I payed $12.99 ) You may need re appliie every couple hours but it is a boozy sweet leather-ish tobacco .... Armani Stronger With You comes to mind.... , but it is better and not that sweet , just perfect amount of everything! Lasts for good 3-4 hours! Very Surprised with this dscovery!

I own Layton and this one and I really don’t see any similarity. This is pure amber with vague spiciness. It’s also one of the most potent and longest lasting fragrances I own. I picked it up for $8 at TJ Max. If you like amber frags then this one is a must. Not the most interesting or complex but still beautiful all the same

Praline & cinnamon-forward amber fragrance. Deep, a little spicy, warm, and sweet, lasts for ages on skin, perfect for cool/cold weather. Definite projection beast, but there's still a very noticeably intimate aspect to this I like very much. Cousin to Layton, much closer to Noir Sultan by Pascal Morabito.

This is marketed for men, not women according to the bottle. Reminds me of Amber Absolute from Tom Ford and also somehow in the feel of the scents Eau Des Baux by L'Occitane and Layton by Parfums de Marly (not the exact scent, which I compared side by side, but the feel of it). Comes off fairly sweet and spicy, with a bit of a medicinal quality that is slightly sharp. Two people I asked to smell it said it smells like a Christmas candle (they both came up with that exact description independently). Personally, I don't think it smells like Christmas, but then again I have never thought that TF Amber Absolute, Eau De Baux, or Burberry London smell like Christmas either, which is apparently a thing. This scent could definitely be oversprayed and would be best for cold evenings. Nice bottle with shiny gold flames, sturdy. Overall, great scent that is unique. Happy to have it in my collection.

Super juicy fruity opening, without being any sweet. Warms up with the spices in the middle and deepens to the end. The name suits this well! The whole pleasure ends pretty quickly (like a cup of coffee :)).

On the bottle it's written "For men", but fragrantica got this (unintentionally) right. I think it's too sweet, the praline and cinnamon notes are too proeminent and the amber just accentuates the femininity.

When you first bring up the fragrance it has the name of the fragrance and says it’s for women. But if you enlarge the picture it clearly says for men on the bottle. I bought this in the men’s section of TJ Maxx so I was confused when I just looked it up here. Anyway, I do like the fragrance but I think I’m going to layer this one also. I have lots of winter scents I can use along with this one.

This is marketed for Men....It says Pour Homme/For Men on the bottle ! The dark glass are for Men, the White or Gold bottles for Women Like this one the best from the Men's line, Second Plush Leather, third Salted Vetiver

Overpriced now that its discontinued.....its a 25$ fragrance

Ginger-y grapefruit. It has got nothing to do with amber.
