L'Anima Della Rosa

This is such a stunning, amazingly beautiful rose scent. I love rose fragrances and have many, but this one is truly special. A real soul of the rose. It’s a really warm, bright, optimistic rose, all notes are very finely blended and I find it almost impossible to distinguish single notes. L'anima smells like a late afternoon rose garden when the air is rich and filled with aroma of roses, still warm and inviting. Brings colour yellow and gold to my mind. Maybe that’s the narcissus? That sunny note? There is a slight crispness, the scent of passion fruit flower (I recently discovered passion fruit flowers peeking from my neighbours garden). It’s gives this really nice, vibrant nuance. Other notes I can detect is earl grey tea, when you open the bag and take a deep breath inhaling delicious scent of bergamot. And somewhere in the background I also smell oakmoss and a tiny bit of musk. To me, it's a rose masterpiece. I just hope Auphorie will not discontinue after a year or so as they do with their fragrances. This is a keeper! If you like warm, positive roses, try it. It’s so worth it!

The fragrance does indeed accomplish its stated goal--to capture John William Waterhouse's "The Soul of the Rose" a reproduction of which appears on the bottle. The rose in this one is different than the spicy POAL or many of the hundreds of other rose scents on the market. Eugene Au and Emrys Au added a number of atypical floral notes to surround the dominant rose--yellow narcissus, passion flower, angel's trumpet, lily and acacia. The fragrance wants us to imagine a journey back in time to the Pre Raphaelites and the verse of Tennyson. Does this make the fragrance old fashioned? I think the opposite is true. This is an innovate creation that will stand out for its notes, its subtle blending, and its invocation of a time far different than the one we live in today. It is long lasting, moderate to strong sillage, unisex. I feel lucky to own this one.

This has really turned me into rose scents! My friend sniffed the decant and said that it must be for winter or special occasions, but no, this rose is so delicious I used up my sample in just a couple days! It's not too dark (like Amouage lyric woman) and it's not a soliflore. It's sweet and yet green. A full bottle is priced more than what I feel comfortable spending, but now I am exploring cheaper options on the rose theme to see if I can find another rose frag that is as inspirational.

This is, like the song goes, the stuff that dreams are made of. A most potent and earthy rose scent that will stay with you until the morning after. Not your average rose but, the deepest, sexiest, most bewitching rose on earth. A must have for rose lovers like me. Will be acquiring full bottle.

slightly milky oakmoss & thorn roses. The musk is adding that soapy clean effect to the blend hiding the strength of the roses and the milky lily. The narcissus is trying to twist the blend somehow but the honey suckle is helping to drift this blend toward a floral yet rosy side. The base ambergris IS the one that adding depth to this blend as the overly used honeysuckle is just THE RIGHT method to drift this blend away from the sharpness of roses and the herbal taste of the oakmoss. I didn't expect something that amusing from this blend but it turned to be quite impressive! i believe it's a bit more effective on women over men because of the soapy musk and a honey suckle twist. Very amusing. Edit (6th March 2019) Very apricot and sweet roses with narcissus and clean musky oakmoss.

Is not a get-around-girl of a rose! This is a hometown girl rose, in a small village, that hosts a gift shoppe or more. It could even be a holiday bazzar. There are packets of freshly dried roses, some rose soaps, and even rose colored cushions and lace adorning the unnoticeable edges of a structure so full of sweets, the roses are surface aroma. The sweet shoppe is held together by the comforting smell of elders playing bridge and a salt water taffy pulling machine turned on and weaving streams of shiny goop betwixt robotic arms in a mesmerizing up down and out motion before your very eyes. Hard sugar pastilles that have no real expiry mingle with the florals and last, thankfully, long enough to glance out the windows overlooking some seascape or river rapids abuting the miraculous fudge and candy palace. After 20 minutes of being confounded as to whether any candies will be either fresh enough to remain hard suckers or melt into that stale chewy place that dated baked sugar makes its way to like a dentist's best friend, the musk snaps you out of that meditative coma. The honeysuckle and musk work the heart magic like a packet of orange pop rocks in soda water for a good while, something you might have left in your pocket as a precaution for these types of candy rush kill joy places. The dry down is a walk of shame, empty handed, past the dried rose entrance of brown - toothed snickering bridge dogs in visors chewing on sweet taffy.

This was nuclear on me. Two small sprays had me choking in a car, and filled my entire office and left a scent cloud buzzing around me all day even after scrubbing my wrists! So be warned! I found the opening very challenging - big green naturalistic rose, oak moss and sour animalic note. After an hour the rose warmed up and a burnt sugar note and spice came through. Pressing nose to wrist it is a refined warm spicy rose with quality woody notes, but the sillage following me was old school sweet candied rose and almost joss stick smoke. After 12 hours it was very fatiguing to wear. Quality stuff but too much for me.
