Black Gold

I love a good conceptual fragrance that effectively and artistically communicates its message while still being wearable. Black Gold strikes an impressive balance between industrial (gritty and metallic) and chic. My gothic/industrial biases me toward a fragrance like this one: arguably extreme and meant to paint a viscous, black portrait of raw petrol through scent. Indeed, it would be right at home in the Rammstein fragrance collection. The performance is part of the enjoyment. It remains present virtually all day without ever strangling or annoying me--an impressive feat given the sharpness of some of its facets. So, after my second full day of wearing it, several months after the first wearing, I love it more than ever. It's not for everyone, but if industrial fragrances are your thing, I recommend giving it a try.

This is a fragrance I appreciate because despite being extreme, it reflects what it wants to communicate. One of the main resources of Kazakhstan is the famous black gold: oil. With nuances that are initially spicy, soft and then leathery with a touch of styrax which gives incisiveness and strenghtness, the idea of petrol is perfectly reproduced, which then fades into less acrid hints and becomes a wonderful leathery scent.
