Arabesque

This one is a beauty in the sweet but sophisticated gourmand department. It's a sweet rose jam with a hint of double, bitter espresso. When I first tested it, I somehow lost the coffee note in the well-blended rose-centered sugary sweetness, but it's there and adds some distant smokiness to the composition. When it comes to the sugar level, it's definitely not for the faint-hearted. It makes it very feminine in the traditional way but not overly immature (the way Poison Girl or Girl of Now are). It is pink, edible rose but not too girlish or romantic. A natural candidate for autumn/winter fragrance, but in fact quite versatile. It strongly reminds me of Sun Java Rose Oud by Franck Olivier (not listed on Fragrantica) and Rose 01 by Swiss Arabian. The latter has litchi - which I can sniff here as well - and nutmeg + pink pepper which behave in sort of a similar manner as coffee note here, breaking the circle of rose and sugar. Also, Liquides Imaginaires' Fleur De Sable is a more dry, less sugary variation on the same topic. People say they all hold resemblance to Delina. I tried it so long ago I cannot recall the exact smell, but probably they're right. Except the rhubarb maybe. I'd say it's a safe blind buy for a woman who can wear sweet perfume. If you already own one of the scents I mentioned above, this one might be redundant though. UPDATE: I've just sniffed a sample of Intense Cafe after a long time and yup, it's definitely a dupe. Very spot on.
