Grabbed this at the NY boutique-- the singular note isn't lying but is a bit misleading-- rosemary oil is the star of the show, but there's more going on. The clay note from Avestan is here too bit is waaaay less prominent [like 10% of what it was before], and there's also a bit of a concrete accord around the edges that you can smell in Allsaints Flora Mortis or Spiriteuse Double Vanille. All in all this one isn't as groundbreaking or unique as Avestan, but the quality is there. It's definitely worth a purchase at $48

Such a warm, comforting scent. Like a really good, thick hand cream. Incredible performance for cost ($40 for oil, $48 for spray EDP). I really don't understand some of these reviews. Why do people think of this as an exclusively masculine fragrance? Perhaps it's the fact I have the oil instead of the EDP, but on me, it's soft, warm, sweet cashmere, with a sharp undercurrent of fresh, frigid woody rosemary. It's so well layered—I think this will become another staple in my wardrobe.

This fragrance hangs around your neck like a silk scarf. Damp concrete. Light filtered through dusty windows. There’s a bushel of rosemary. The lingering muskiness of someone else’s scent is on your skin as the day wanes.

simultaneously simple and complex. the simplicity comes from how "bare" and clean the scent feels: a soapy rosemary. however, the complexity lays in its restraint. i wouldn't say this scent leans purely woodsy or fresh – i'd argue that it's almost a perfect split down the middle. it's inoffensive and luxurious (perhaps that isn't what some people expected). like the lobby of a ski chalet. someone below said it reminds them of cashmere. i wholeheartedly agree. the identity that avestan is trying to exude, as someone who went in-store at their nyc location, is very much sophisticated, minimalist, and tasteful. svalbard, from the scent itself to the packaging, very much aligns with that. also, i don't think this is a masculine scent at all - it's very unisex. could go either way.

This is a peaceful, calming, meditative scent. Very intimate. Amazing layered.
