Cloud Nine

I splurged and spent all of my birthday money on all four of Avon's new Stories perfumes. (I bought them completely blind.) I do like each and every one of them, and can't really choose a favorite. To me this whole collection is made up of quiet, skin scents for much enjoyment of the wearer only. On my skin, this is a skin scent within an hour. This perfume is worth the low price I paid as I do really enjoy it, all to myself. However, if the wearer wishes others to notice that they are wearing perfume, I would have to say that none of the four "Stories" scents would be recommended, at least by me. This particular frag one is absolutely delicious. The first thing that hits me, and continues to last through the dry down is sweet, comfy vanilla. Not a heavy, gourmand type of vanilla, but instead more like homemade vanilla frosting or like huge marshmallows. The peony and bergamot are both delightful and appear pretty quickly, and both continue through the dry down. On my skin, this is so pretty, the only complaint I have on this, and all of the "Stories" perfumes is the horrible longevity along with the sillage that doesn't even really exist. All in all, I will use this one at bedtime. It will be so comforting for me as I fall asleep and it's mild enough not to bother my perfume-hating husband. It really is a comforting, yummy scent.

This smells so familiar to me and I think it's the strong bergamot note reminding me of the way the bergamot smells in Bath and Body Works Freshwater scent (which I love). It's a masculine marketed fragrance that actually has a feminine edge to it while Cloud Nine is a feminine marketed fragrance with a masculine edge to it. :) I do like Cloud Nine and the juiciness of the bergamot combining with the sweetness of the vanilla so I think I'm going to pick this one up soon.

I was gifted 3 out of the 4 scents in this line. I like Cloud Nine, but the least of any of the 3. The only thing I don't like about it is the sweetness of the whipped cream and vanilla is not to my liking for the first half hour or so. After that it softens into a pleasant, soft and creamy skin scent. As a skin scent it lasts for several hours on me. Not my preference but not bad, I'll wear it now and then.

Cloud Nine is mostly for the wearer themselves. There is no sillage and it barely lasts an hour on me. It's not a bad fragrance - it's a pretty whipped cream vanilla with some bergamot in the beginning and some peony. I got a bit of the Play-Doh effect, but it's now moved on. I have three out of the four Stories - Cloud Nine, Something Amazing, and Work Your Magic. This is like the other 2 Avon Stories I bought, very mild skin scents just for me to smell. I didn't pay much for these so, as they say, you get what you pay for.

Question: since this has been compared to BR 540 and Ariana Grande Cloud is also compared to BR 540, do you think that accounts for the name Cloud Nine as a way to capitalize on the other two?
