Prima Noir

Considering I'm on my 2nd bottle with a 3rd waiting in the wings, I thought it high time to sing the praises of Prima Noir! I quickly went through my first blind bought bottle last Spring; the well-blended warm and very wearable vanilla scent actually lifts my spirits on those cold, damp and dismal grey-sky days when bud and bloom remain dormant and the rain is unrelenting. Fast forward to this Fall and PM is the one I reach for most often, a warm hug that helps ward off the chill of frosty mornings and quick-to-cool evenings. This cozy scent isn't without a certain allure, you can definitely dress this one up or down as it easily lends itself to any occasion. Longevity for me is about 4hrs so planning to wear out and about usually means spritzing or reapplying just before leaving the house. Lately, I've been layering PM with my newly discovered Kyse Perfume samples (thank-you Fraganticans for pointing the way) and achieving wonderful results! **Note to self: next purchase of Prima Noir should include shower gel and lotion to try to get the 9-12 wow hours of some lucky longevity reviewers!**

This is Avon's newest edition to their Prima lineup. I do like this one. The notes are listed as Top: violet, Heart: jasmine, Base: black vanilla. Some classify this as a nighttime scent but I find it is great for any time. On myself it last a very long time, even over night after sleeping. I am an Avon Rep. so I got to get this early. I think it actually comes out in about one or maybe two more books. I do love the dark purple bottle and the cap is quite solid and easy to open. I love the combination of notes. I can smell the lovely violet right away with the first spritz, and then the jasmine with the vanilla included makes the dry down spicy in a wonderful way. It kind of reminds me of one of my favorite Avon scents right now, Passion. Prima Noir has something about it that reminds me of Christmas. Not so much as Passion reminds me of Christmas but still there is something in the mix. It may be the vanilla? I think this fragrance would make a great gift for any one this Holiday.

Prima NOIR will be AVON'S 2017 Big Holiday Launch which Typically Avon saves this time for their Best Offering of The Year, Just going by the Scratch and Sniff In my rep Material, Prima NOIR smells Really Good, Deep And Sweet...I will Update once I get the actual juice in my Hands by this upcoming weekend! Oh And I LOVE The New Ad campaign and The BOLD Colors That Courtney Lavine is Wearing, STUNNING! UPATE: I Just received My Bottles and samples of P.N. yesterday and this is Definitely a Sister to Avon PASSION the Only slight difference is with PASSION having a Brighter Fruity opening And P.NOIR's shy Violet top note which to My nose doesn't last very long going Right into the Beautiful Jasmine and Decadent Vanilla, it's Deliciously Gourmand Creamy And Sweet, so if you have and Enjoy Passion this will Surely Please your senses Too!

I've had this for about two years and over time the liquid has darkened to a most wonderful amber colour. It smells different from when I first acquired it. It now has a smooth deep vanilla with a creamy powdery violet. It reminds me of Lancome Hypnose. It is not a dupe by any means, it's just that the vanilla it has morphed into reminds me of Hypnose. Prima Noir should be a must have for any vanilla lover for what it transforms into after a couple of years. And it has gotten stronger so one spray would be sufficient because the lasting power has increased as well, along with the potency. Just lovely.

Wow! Avon nailed on a great blend of scents. I am an Avon Rep and tried and own many of their fragrances. This is similar to Passion, which I love and get so many compliments on, but this bit more floral. I consider musky or ambery types of scents as "heady" or intoxicating"; rich on warmth. This is one of them. Quite beautiful, with sweet and soft florals and soothing, lingering warmth of musky vanilla. A great scent of fall and winter but will use it year around for special spring and summer nights and occasions.

This is a warm, lush, vanilla, slightly powdery and sweet but never cloying kind of scent...A real winner...Today alone I've had three men ask the name of my fragrance..men usually say oh you smell nice...but all three men said I want to buy that for the lady in my life...tonight as Im placing my order in smelly white castles an employee leans from bebind the counter to tell me how nice I smelled...this is 9hrs since I applied..so big wow for Avon...great scent and sillage...and great value

My co-worker sells Avon and I discovered the scratch scent in the catalogue so I thought I'd gift myself for Christmas. Prima Noir is very pretty and I'm happy with this purchase. I cannot stop smelling this. The black vanilla really grounds and softens the floral. I absolutely love the violet and jasmine, not overpowering at all. A bit sweet but in a good way. This scent would really shine on a cool evening but I love it so much I'd probably wear anytime of day.

If you love vanilla in perfumes you need this in your life. I say this about every vanilla heavy fragrance, but this is the best vanilla ever!!! It's a heady sweet sexy vanilla. Extremely long lasting, easily hits the twelve hour mark. Smells a bit like Avon Passion but without the fruity opening. This is the type of fragrance that makes me want to order five back-ups, just in case Avon dares to discontinue it. I want to keep smelling this forever, it's so good!

Very beautiful long lasting scent..12 hour!!!. I dont like gourmands so while this is sweet the violet adds a lush powderyness to it...its rich and warm...grown & sexy kind of fragrance...amazing value cant feel guilty for spending $30 on shower gel,lotion and a full size bottle ...really impressed with Prima Noir..will repurchase

So so beautiful! This just grabbed me when I smelled it at the Avon store (they have my holy grail shampoo ;)). This is just absolutely lovely!!! Warm vanilla softened by the violet. Mmmmmmm! BTW, the shampoo is the 360 argon. Just in case you were wanting to know. Ahem. :)

I tried a bottle; blind buy from rep. The compliments just keep coming. Rich with notes of vanilla, but darker....the violet is subtle. It comes across as a classy, lingering fragrance; similar to Avon Passion.... it a little more dark vanilla. Worth it!

The reviews are spot on. This spicy-sweet musky vanilla is absolutely a win for Avon. It "softens" down quickly and isn't overbearing. Love it!

I received my blind bought bottle today. I really like this! It is warmer than I was hoping it would be; with the iris and jasmine, I was hoping it would be an affordable “cool” vanilla. Despite not being what I was hoping for, this is deliciously wearable. The seeetness does seem to fade with wear to a mildly oriental feel. My daughter said it smelled like vanilla ice cream. This is my first Avon product and I am pleased with my purchase. UPDATE: I have had this for two weeks and wear it almost nightly. The initial burst of overwhelming sweetness the first day settled as the bottle recovered from its trip. It is a musky, powdery vanilla. Lasts well over 9 hours on my skin; dries down to a gorgeous sweet vanilla.

Within the last year, I have been drawn to deeper darker scents. Something I would NEVER have tried before. I tried Black Opium and was surprised by how much I really like and enjoy it. I also love the flankers Floral Shock & Nuit Blanche. I am also drawn to iris (Tocca Maya) and dark berries (Avon Imari Seduction and Avon Rare Amethyst) so with all that said when I saw the iris listed for this fragrance I thought I would give it a try. For me, this is ok but not something I am immediately drawn to. On me, this is definitely a night perfume. It is on the heavier side and can see this being cloying in warmer weather. There is a incense / smokiness I detect when smelling this. This is definitely a dark, dare I say mysterious, scent. Can even been seen as sultry and sexy. This is not a girlie scent at all but rather womanly and serious. I wouldn't even say mature as it is more of an attitude that this scent projects. I can see why many love this scent but again, for me, it is just ok and was not a safe blind buy.

I got this for Christmas and was underwhelmed by the fragrance as it falls into the category that I call heavier than I usually wear, but not interesting enough to put up with. I'm continuing to give it a break now and then and try to give it a chance, but so far my feelings about it haven't changed. While I enjoy most Avon perfumes I have, this one continues to be a no for me. There's something about this vanilla that I dislike, and it doesn't mellow enough for me as wear time continues. Aside from the vanilla it's a very standard powdery jasmine and violet scent. Good thing I didn't spend money for this. At least the bottle is pretty.

This is heavy to me. I liked it before I got into more designer and celebrity perfumes and Ive not touched it since. Its more of a heavy musk with floral to me. I smell the vanilla but its not a vanilla Im used to. I dont reach for this at all and Ive had it for at least 9 months thinking if I let it sit itll get better. It has not. Edit: I threw it out lol. There are so many better perfumes out there. This ain't it honey. Don't buy.

I just received my bottle ordered on special from the brochure, based on notes and reviews on Fragrantica. It's not exactly what I was expecting from the notes. Even if some reviewers mentioned it was more an evening scent to me it is very soft and will be ok for daytime wear. It will be an ok perfume but nothing more. Seems not to project very much and does not last very long either. No big surprise so far, it's very typical Avon I think. Probably won't repurchase. Overall 6/10 EDIT: after wearing it today and after reapplying it multiple times I will change my review to very disappointing on the longevity and sillage (even if the smell is nice). 0/10 for sillage 0/10 for lasting power 4/10 for smell I will remember this next time I want to by another Avon fragrance. Unless I know the fragrance (like Rare Pearls and Far Away maybe which have more longevity and sillage) I will never pay more then 15$ for those fragrances, this way if it turns out a deception like Prima Noir at least I won't lose time much $$ lol

This is definitely STRONG- and goes into the category of being like a rip tide - pulling you into an exotic, seductive, DEEP essence. This goes on clear and determined -- it definitely pulls me into a very deep vortex, early on. An hour into wearing this - and it relaxes a bit - but is still reaching a register and chord which are much lower than I typically resonate to. I feel as though this can definitely be an ageless and timeless fragrance, with the right person's chemistry and personality... however, I feel as though I'm not able to pull this one off with any level of certainty. It feels as though I've tried on my mother's shoes - and they are a bit too big for my feet... that I haven't quite grown into this one yet. This has a level of sureness, certainty, and evokes a very SERIOUS mood. I have more of a lilt within my voice. This perfume runs deep - I am drawn to this - it is not offensive in ANY way... However, this is NOT my perfume or fragrance. Who do I see wearing this? This registers in the range of a true dramatic -- someone with exquisite taste and elegance that commands the room with their presence. This is not me -- I have a bit of "the class clown" still in me - to be taken too seriously. I can say something serious - and people are laughing, just by the way I said it. I need a lighter fragrance with more of a whimsical essence -- something playful. -------- Take this one on - like a challenge. This is the opera singer that can hit the high notes - crystal clear...and can sing the full register. The ballerina that can play the leading role in a believable fashion. The concert pianist that can play classical tunes with assuredness. The person that dots their i's and crosses their t's perfectly - with composure. The person who is an expert in their field - someone that sets extremely high standards of excellence. I love this - but I'm not "perfect" enough to carry this one off in a believable fashion. You know who YOU ARE to accept the challenge - and pull this off with panache! This is the type of fragrance that will find YOU! You KNOW who YOU ARE!!!! -------------- The longer this wears on my arm, the more enticing it becomes -- Maybe I judged too soon! This is turning into a very powerfully seductive broth in the crook of my arm. I'm liking this more - as it melds with my personal chemistry. You won't know till you try this one! Perhaps it is ME after all! Only time will tell!

This is a very simple sweet but sexy evening perfume. Can be worn formally with formal clothes for a night out romantic dinner date or girls night out at a nightclub dance club. Opens with that usual slight alcoholic or aldehydic scent so many Avon perfumes have; or like hair spray when you first spray it. Then it gets into a soft white floral of jasmine but without the greenery. Smells like straight forward jasmine. Then it gets spiced up with vanilla. The violet is at the end and is powdery like cosmetics. This has an adult sophistication but not outdated not too mature and very grown up in a sexy way. It sometimes reminds me of Sofia Vergara's Love. There is spices that smell like vanilla mixed with some wood note or with amber and or with praline and chocolate. This is almost a gourmand but it is more floral and powdery. This is subtle and does not last long. Good for winter and fall because it is warm. I also can detect a bit of leather and musk. This makes me confident and comfortable. Easy to wear. Spray after shower and after you have dried and dressed up for your night out. It is sexy and men and women will compliment you for it.

How can there be only three notes in this? Jasmine and vanilla make a synergistic pair always, and the violet lifts this so it's not headachy and heavy. Great scent, but there is more than just these notes. I pick up a coconut or marzipan aspect to this; perhaps that is what they mean by DARK vanilla (all vanilla pods are dark, how is that a thing?). Avon lists it as DELICATE vanilla, which sounds like merchandising rather than information. Prima Noir has loads of some sort of vanilla, but mercifully it is not sweet. There's almost a patchouli or smoke feel to this although there is no patchouli or smoke listed. Not strong, just a feeling that it may lurk in the structure somewhere. At any rate Prima Noir is wearable and gorgeous, especially in cooler weather. Pretty bottle, too. For $20 (in the US brochure right now) you could do a whole lot worse. Avon has been knocking them out of the park lately with this one and Velvet. Great vanilla floral. (No,I do not sell Avon.)

This smells very nice. My first thought is 'this will be a great winter fragrance' its deep and different. Like classics were back in the day: bold, sweet and intense was the key and not - the subtle, not to offend anyone - type fragrance like those marketed these days. I feel like a fragrance its another accesory of your outfit and your feeling and if you like it, you wear it wether its the popular or not. I don't go after the more expensive one, or after a certain brand. I go after what I like and I have Gucci and I have a one dollar perfume that smells better than many others that have cost more. This one is elegant. For a great winter night or simply whenever...

One of the "better" scents from Avon. This one starts off sweet,then goes through changes on my skin,finally ending up as a powdery musk vanilla in the drydown. It opens with sweet jasmin/violet...muskiness. I find the violet shy,and it seems the violet is underneath the other few notes. Yes,admitidly,this also has that Avon-ade that a lot of Avon scents have,which is a tad off-putting,but more acceptable here than in other previous Avon scents. So, all in all I like this scent alot so far. Projection is decent and longevity is moderate.

I bought it because I love Far Away Infinity and they did alright with that Jasmine/Vanilla combo. This is a lovely scent that will make you feel cozy and delightful. It doesn't last as long as Infinity. It is more like Lancome's Hypnose. I wear it when I want to feel extra pretty or spray it on my pillow before bed. I've had this since 2017 Christmas and everyone who smells it on me loves it. It's a mature perfume but I happen to really love it and will be buying another bottle soon.

I like this perfume, but I don't love it. It is very pretty, but I've smelled it before. It is a much softer, less harsh version of BBW Black Currant Vanilla or a less musky version of Animale Temptation for women. Don't get me wrong--it's a nice perfume, and a gem from Avon--just nothing original to my nose. I am enjoying wearing my sample vial of this, but I probably wouldn't purchase a full bottle.

Love the smell, but it doesn’t last. I’ve had great luck with Avon Imari line, so I tried this. Very simple/comforting, I love it. It’s definitely a fall/winter fragrance, but it does not last. Clothing, skin, poof..... gone. Imari lasts much longer (although a much deeper, smoky incense scent) , I will stick to those.

Prima Noir is the nighttime version of Prima. This is flowers and heavy vanilla. This thick vanilla brew has a lovely floral touch. The beautiful ombre bottle matches the scent exactly. It is sultry and romantic,perfect for date night. One of Avon's finest.

I just realized that there is not a category here for the original "prima." Of all three of the primas, the original is the BEST. It smells JUST like Chloe Chloe and is long lasting. If you have not tried the original, please do so if you love Chloe.

@ waskotransportation The original Prima is listed as Avon Prima / Dreams on Fragrantica. It was sold as Dreams outside of the US. Both of these scents are exceptionally good and very wearable.

I have had a chance to try this perfume already. I work with Avon as well. This smells very nice I think. Nice bottles for this line as well. I recommend this for any vanilla fans.

Avon did well with this one! It's long lasting, sweet and spicy vanilla. I've been wearing it for a few days now and finally realized it reminded me of Todd Oldham Todd Oldham.
