Soie Rouge

I have the EDT in the round red bottle with the gold cap. The out of the gate was a blast of alcohol that quickly burned off and left me with a blast of spice, depth and rose trying to break through. As the pepper burned off a deep patchouli rose rises. Just lovely. Those are the three main notes with some cashmere wood that rounds and smooths it. Some vetiver in the base that gives it a slight chypre edge but not oakmoss laden. As the vetiver/oakmoss burned off, just a lovely, dusty, sharp and sweet rose is left behind on the skin.

Like not love. It's a soft floral chypre. It's there but not in a strong way. Longtivity and projection are moderate.

Now this smells vintage. The pepperiness is really lovely, it's super feminine despite the warmth and spice which it immediately hits with when sprayed. There's even floweriness underneath if you let it ruminate for a while. Really not my style but could totally be a signature scent.

It is like the twin of Christian La Croix Rouge! Also from Avon btw!

My first impression was that it is too spicey. I'm looking for a spicey version of Margarita Ley by Escada or of Red Door. This doesn't have the sweet "redness" that those fragrances have, just spice in the style of Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant. Once it settles, it becomes more pleasant and the other notes come through a bit more, but Soie Rouge smells like something my grandmother would have worn in the early nineties. It smells like it was marketed to the older ladies of the early 90s.

I had this back in the day, when I was 12. today I am wearing be delicious nights by dkny and it smells similar in my opinion (and memory). it really reminds me of it!

my sister found some at a thrift store once, but now i don't think they are allowed to sell toilitries.
