Obviously this is not supposed to be a fine fragrance for lack of a better term.In my opinion it is quite nice for what it is. It is to me a refreshing fragrance that is masculine but not dark nor aquatic. I like the soil tincture smell which really makes it very classic and down to earth in my opinion. I guess the word is simple but there is nothing wrong with that especially considering it is rather cheap and good for any day to day refresher.

Mmm...Good Times... My favourite axe by far, just because of obvious earthy note... dirt, earth, soil, whatever you wanna call it, it was fantastic and so natural.. I wish I could've pheonix again but they changed the scent in new products. BTW phoenix smells nothing like those scents in remind me of... not even one percent. It was special..

The most nostalgic fragrance to me, as a guy in his 30s. Just slingshots my mind back to middle school. Will always hold a special place in my heart despite me using far higher quality colognes these days.

this is what started it all. this is what made me like colognes. this smells almost identical to Sauvage Elixir. most nostalgic scent for me.

Shockingly close to Dior Sauvage. Cheap but doesn't last long. Spicy lavender with a bit of citrus. Not bad at all.

One of the iconic Axe scents that was virtually a launch brand under the Axe umbrella when it debuted in America. This one unlike Apollo was not as much of a bodyspray clone of a famous scent but rather something fresh and unique. A good mix of lavender and citrus in the top notes with leather and some musk in the base, made this a pretty good introduction fragrance to middle schoolers, high schoolers and yes even elementary school aged males.

I spray it on and I’m immediately back in summer 2004 in the locker room in highschool. Every dude either had this or Apollo lol. It really is crazy how tied our memory is to scents. Every time I smell this I have a vivid image of walking out of the locker room to get in my dads car after an after school practice. Axe has a lot of different choices now but this one is the classic in my opinion.

This was my go to scent in high school and even though I dont love it like I used to back in the day its still a decent scent... For someone that likes this scent but wants to upgrade to a better cologne that has a similar vibe try Bath and Body Works Paris for Men !

It’s okay, smells like a teenage boy...a lot of rosemary and mint. Kind of gave me a headache. Lasts long. I had the deodorant version, never got the body spray...it DOESN’T SMELL LIKE SAUVAGE OR ANYTHING RELATED TO SAUVAGE! Sauvage is refined, and smells clean. Elixir is even more different than Sauvage or Phoenix. I also don’t know about the soil comparison review under me, but I agree with him...they must be trolling.

You need to stop writing fragrance reviews if you think this smells like Dior Sauvage. Secondly it's not that bad but it is very linear scent and smells like a teenage boy around 13 definitely avoid if you're over 17. Actually if you want to avoid scarring girls away from your BO and gas bomb take a shower and stay the far away from Axe. Use Old Spice please.

909 back to back, Phoenix and anarchy are the only 2 axes I "Liked". But between the two I think anarchy is a better bang for your buck. Ill never wear these again and don't recommend you do either unless your a stinky middle school boy. 3.4/10 (wearable)

Smells like Yves Rocher Nature for men, which I do not like at all. It has a sharp, sweet grassy vibe that I just cant find pleasing, although some might like it.

Cheap cheap cheap at about 4 bucks but some of us guys don't always have the time for being fussy about what fragrance to wear, what cologne is perfect for what occasion, or matches with what article of clothing and so forth. This is more function over fragrance! I have a collection of this stuff: the deodorant the daily fragrance and the body spray. They are the same scent but the size of the bottle varies from 1-2 ounces to 4 ounces. These products are affordable and can be bought at drugstores all over the US, Wal-Mart, K-Mart, and even pharmacies like CVS. I keep these babies in my bathroom behind the mirror. I also carry the smallest size 1-2 oz in my gym bag or backpack when I go out camping/hiking. Let me break it down for you in 2 parts. Fragrance This is a musk based scent. I get mostly the leathery musk. It's an aggressive musk that is quite strong as you spray it under your arm pits or across your abs. It is definitely meant to be a body spray and not a cologne which would otherwise go on your pulse points. There's supposed to be 'tincture of soil' (dirt) but I'm not getting any of that. I detect a warm peppery spicy note that I can't make out. There's no florals despite this page's listing of notes of lavender and violet. No way. I don't get any citrus either. The fragrance jumps right into a musk and also some green notes, like patchouli (not mentioned here). It's a powerful aroma and lasts a decent amount of time though not as long as an Eau de Cologne. I would estimate the duration at about 2 hours though not always. This is a strong masculine scent, warm, spicy, earthy, musky. FUNCTION This has got to be found in the bags of most athletes: football players, baseball players, and they're definitely spraying this stuff on themselves after the games in the locker rooms. This is also something I carry with me in my bag at the locker room in the gym/health club where I do my work outs. Phoenix is meant to be sprayed on the body after sweating profusely from a work-out. This eliminates the smell of sweat. It's best to spray it on AFTER your work out and not before because if you do it before and the scent is still on you while you're in the gym, other people near you will definitely smell it and it would be overpowering. No one wants to be that guy. You know. That guy who put too much cologne or body spray on. So ultimately this is a scent to spray on for when you travel and go hiking or mountain climbing, camping, or any kind of physical activity that results in you perspiring. At an affordable price, Phoenix is a must have and a daily fragrance to wear for guys of any age group, including junior or high school boys. Not a complex fragrance, linear, simple, no nonsense, musk-based, masculine, universally worn by males of any age or demographic, social class, and is more of a hygiene product such as deodorant. Not a pheromone or panty dropper so don't even think that this is going to attract female attention. It's just body spray.

I've been carrying a bottle of this in my last lunchbox for years. It's not a favorite, but it's easy to wear and is a good "refresher" for those of us who work a physical (sweaty) job. There's absolutely nothing unique about Phoenix: to me it smells like an amalgamation of some of the most popular men's fragrances of all time with less longevity than a drugstore aftershave. It's got a familiar lavender/citrus/manly floral/musk/leather that is about as inoffensive as a fragrance can get. The worst part about it is the aerosol that can vaporize the fragrance into a nose hair singeing room filling mess for the first few seconds. My advice is to apply it under your clothing whenever possible. For the haters, it is what it is.

Axe was the go to scent since I first started using deo body sprays. I remember buying this a few times at the local supermarket when I was in high school. How dare you not buy it after Unilever spent big money on punting this to high school students and men who didn't know better. This is the best of the lot. Axe can't do better than this one, nor can Anne Gotlieb in all her infinite scent-dom. It smelled the most complex of all Axe offerings, which means it smelled much more expensive than the 2 kit-kats you could have purchased over this in your local supermarket. Fresh but semi-complex. Maybe I just like a hint of lavender?

I'm here for the Nostalgia. It's kind of funny to see how accurate this note breakdown is. Didn't think I would ever see this relevant for axe, lol. The smell makes me feel as if it's like dirt that's been washed and dried with dryer sheets, with lavender and some flowers on top. It's like fresh, clean, soil. I can not believe that somebody said this smells like Dior sauvage. I hope they are trolling.
