Oasis Mist Extrait de Parfum

I was very excited to learn about this line because I am a sucker for Extrait de Parfums and for desert-type fragrances, especially at such a competitive price point. I don't usually do reviews until I have tried something at least five times, but since no one has done one, I'll make an exception. In summary, the jury is still out. The relative lack of alcohol in XDPs can often lead to low projection, and that is the case here. Personal wafts are modest but long-lasting. As a chest sprayer, I can report that the sillage scent for this is very different from what you smell nose down shirt (NDS). NDS is floral, with some violet leaf, tonka, and yes, mushroom (in this case, dried mushroom, the kind that you have to reconstitute before eating). In other words, none of the cypress, woods or vetiver that I was hoping for. In the air, however, with a bit of perspiration, the florals are toned down, a photorealistic black pepper (very nice) and a light vetiver liven things up. But because the scent in the air is faint because of the high-oil/low alcohol concentration, you don't get much of that. So I have a few thoughts. First, I will let this mature for 6 months, which often improves middle eastern fragrances substantially. Second, if that doesn't work, I may try to decant some of this to dilute to EDT concentration to see if that boosts the projection. I feel like there is a lot of potential in here - the only question is whether that will remain potential only. I'll let you know in April 2026!
