Shine

Wearing this today, cooped up at home but the sun is shining! Well, I do like this one, it's very reminiscent of sandy beaches and sun drying the sea water on skin. I lived for several years by the Mediterranean and I get that feeling here (away from the pines and herbs though).I like the fact that this doesn't have much sweetness as many modern scents seem to, even so this smells very 'modern' somehow, perhaps due to the synthetics used. After the bright opening it becomes quite subdued but clings to the skin for a good amount of time. I'm looking forward to giving it a try in the extremely hot weather (of which I'm not a fan!) as it might help keep me feeling refreshed (and sane!). This won't be for everyone but if you like the idea of that special smell when walking on the wet sand as small waves tickle your feet or burying your hands in the dry hot sand as the sun beams down on your body, give it a try, it might take you places (especially right now during the corona lock-down). Sea breeze, sand and sun. Edit: actually impressively long-lasting for me (for a fresh scent), bear in mind I was locked indoors most of the day.

I have recently been trying to find fragrances reminiscent of Summer, either beachy scents or those that replicate in some way sunscreen. I visited Fragrantica and saw a thread based on this type of scent profile and the usual ridiculously expensive brands were recommended! I instead plumped for Jill Sander Sun (both the male and female versions - I prefer the female release by the way) and then I realised I already had the best summer/beach/sunscreen fragrance already, and it's this! Azzaro Shine is basically Summer in a bottle, simple, clean, warm and highly evocative of lazy Summer days on holiday, with hot sand beneath your feet, cool waves lapping against the shoreline, your skin tanning in the glare of the sun and the smell of sand, sea and sunscreen filling your senses. This is also very cheap so if you are looking for the definitive Summer i, sea, sand, lotion type scent profile, forget your James Heeleys and Bond number 9s - go get a bottle or 3 of this and you'll be happy!

Great scent for summer beachdays. Its not a complex fragrance, nor is it ment to be one. This scent creates a picture of laid-back guy, spending his vacation in shorts and sandals. Very beach-y, almost tropical scent, you can definetely smell that bergamot in the opening and it lasts pretty long in drydown. Smell of sand is what creates the summery vibe in this scent and i love how it mixes with bergamot and cedar. Smells great and i find that azzaro products longevity and sillage is great, and this is no exception. Would wear in freetime in summer or vacation. Definetely not office fragrance, and is ment to be used in daytime when it is easier to associate with enviroment it is made for, bit too bright fragrance for nighttime. Great add to summer rotation for this price, and its simplicity is quite refreshing. I would choose next adjectives for this scent: Uplifting, tropical, happy, sunny, chill, fresh

I tried this yesterday long with the other two in the new Splash collection 'Sea' and 'Fun'. I liked them all, very bright and refreshing all three. This is the one I sprayed on my hand. Although smelling the paper strips again I kind of regretted it as the other two seemed to be more my thing, more citrus for sure, especially 'Fun' (which was probably the standout scent opening for me, at least the opening). However several hours later I was driving and now and again getting a nice 'beachy' kind of waft tingling my senses. I sniffed my hand and yes it was Azzaro Shine. I find the sillage nicer than the scent up close. In some ways it was like a less sweet Jil Sander Sun Men. It's actually simple yet compelling stuff, especially for those of us who love (and in my case miss) the seaside beach vibe!

Wow! What a great find! This, for me, is niche perfection, daywear perfection, compliment monster with the boys (and the girls). Ice lollies, plastic beach balls all new and shiny, baked sandy bliss, salty sea foam, the whiff of someone’s sun cream as they pass by, candy floss kisses, the memories of being free and relaxed on an exotic beach and, yes, sunshine! In a bottle!!! It’s effing gorgeous! Blind buy it, wear it for a few days and then put it away for a week. Believe me, you will miss it! Crave it even! It’s not a beast scent. It’s a bubble scent you pop as you step into its glorious, uplifting gorgeousness. You disagree? I care this much (from here) - (to here). Ravishing, sensual, sunshiny magic! I adore....

This realy smells and gives a feeling/sensation of sand. I love this, so unique. Actually, wearing this right now..wow

I get cedar, a mineral sand/limestone note, and bergamot, straightforward as this can be and lineal thru it's duration. The overall effect I get is diurnal, bright, creamy and warm, salty and mineral, not breezy, fresh, nor sweet or aquatic. It resembles the effect of salty sweat and sunscreen lotion on hot sand. Performance-wise has good projection for about a couple of hours, the longevity being some 4h on skin outdoors, and well above 6h on clothes indoors, so it performs very well for it's purpose. In fact the whole trio does (Fun, Sea, Shine) and their names are quite apt in describing their tones. They go usually for under 25€/100ml (I found this and Fun for 15€). The bottle is not circular as it looks in the pictures, but oval and heavy, the applicator is also good quality. Overall I think this an honest, simple, inexpensive, fun fragrance for summer outdoors. A safe blind too if found cheap, because it is very wearable so you can easily pass it forward if you don't like it.

It's really SHINY! It reminds me of the moment you just enter the beach. The smell of sun lotions, sand, sun and ocean. It smells exactly like this!!! Very nice scent, moderate perfomance! In my opinion, this is a great summer NIGHT scent too. When your face is red from the sun burn after a long day on the beach, you take a shower, wear your nice summer clothes and go to a cocktail bar/club, this fragrance is exactly what you're looking for and what people will love on you with that look. Great, great, great!

Perfect summer fragrance. Like end of the day spent on the beach. Moderate longetivity and silage. In an hour becomes skin scent. Reminds me of Eau DE Merveilles by Hermes without the gorgeous burst and again longetivity in the beggining and ends up like Paco Rabanne Invictus. Good for blind buy and money, 100ml 25eur. My husband love it too. Strange mix of feminine start and masculine ending...recomend after all

Huh. This starts with a synthetic floral, fruity, lemony blast that is reminiscent of an Avon product for women (somewhere between skin so soft , Jean Nate and that citrus stuff mom used to splash on), plus a bit of urinal cake. Yeah, not loving the opening. Internet lists bergamot, warm sand, cedar and ambrox. Fragrantica has 15 reviews, but most of them wax poetic about walks on the beach, etc. without really getting to the elements, so here goes. At around 30 minutes, The urinal cake fades, the citrus/floral note merges a bit more, and there is a generic sunscreen after a day on the beach (gah, I'm starting to do it too). There is something aromatic here (lavender), and I am getting a bit of uncredited violet, but none of it is especially natural. The ingredients on the box say limonene (lemon), ethylhexyl methoxycinnanate (sunscreen), Benzyl salicylate (woody, balsamic, musky), linalool (lavender) butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane (sunscreen), citronellol (citronella), citral (lemon), benzyl benzoate (sweet balsamic woody), alpha-iso-methyl-ionone (violet leaf), geraniol (geranium), eugenol (clove), and ethylhexyl salicylate (sunscreen). So there is a very good reason why this smells like sunscreen - it contains three of them! After two hours, the Jean Nate splash accord is still the most obvious element, plus sunscreen. Wisps of citrus/citronella, lavender and violet, and while it may be the power of suggestion, a bit of sand and clove. It stays like this until it fades away. Overall, just a very generic scent, leaning feminine because of my childhood associations. The citrus leans a bit too citronella for my taste and I find it a bit heavy, not fresh. I will have to try this again, but it isn't an instant love for me.

It's an okay clean scent for steaming summer days. A little on the masculine side but not too much. Top notes are light fresh fruit, aquatic sand in the middle and a warm drydown. I don't share the thought it's a remarkable scent. However, it's very nice and great value for money.

So good, so shiny, so sunny. Reminds me of a sun lotion and cream like "Nivea". For me is more feminine. In the dry down there is an almost salty/sandy vibe, very fresh and summery - SUN in a bottle. Very similar to "Nivea Sun", but smoother and better in my opinion.

A nice, safe, somewhat generic, citrus fragrance that leans a little masculine. I don't find it interesting enough for a glorious review. However, it's light, fresh and summer-y. Bought dirt cheap and I'm guessing the bottle will last a while.

Oh I can feel the sand. If by "sand" you mean cheap and synthetic floral. I wouldn't even use this as an air freshener because it would suffocate me. I don't know why it's hitting me over the head with sharp amber as well of all things, all I know if this bottle is gonna stay in the drawer. I don't understand how a lot of people seem to like it, perhaps if I use it as an air freshener and leave the rooms for 20 minutes it'll evaporate enough to be tolerable. I should have gone with Sea. 2/10

I'm a sucker for marine, ocean scents. If there's something that has sea notes, or salt mixed with cypress or wood, I'm all for it. That's being said, when I learnt about Shine and Sea, i knew they're going to be mine. Started with Shine, because of the sand note. It's marketed as unisex and I agree, it's gravitating more to masculine side though, thanks to cedar. I don't mind, it's actually quite refreshing and uplifting that way. Surprisingly, bergamot note comes out after some time, but it makes Shine even more refreshing. Alas, I don't detect the sand note, I wish I did, I could just close my eyes, put my arm close to my nose and pretend I'm somewhere else. But don't get me wrong, it is still in its core, very beachy and ocean like, not literal though, nothing bad with that. I like this interpretation. As @trephine.artist noticed it has that Mediterranean vibe. Yesterday I wore it on its own, it lasted for few hours, but was more of a skin scent. Today I layered it with Douglas Seathalasso for more ocean in my life and it's a win! Shine added some depth and boosted aquatic notes in Seathalasso. And together they last. Shine is really nice on its own, but thanks to its simplicity it's also great for layering. I'm looking forward to trying out Sea. This might be another fine, summertime marine scent I need in my life. Just as I need Shine.

I tried this today for the first time and am a fan. The initial burst of bergamot comes across more bitter than citrusy or fresh. But give it 5 min and it softens into a pleasantly bright note. A few minutes later I can detect a very soft lavender-like note that gives it a bit of a sunscreen vibe. Finally, the sand note arrives on the drydown. The overall effect on the drydown is the almost photorealistic scent of sunscreen covered skin, fresh from the ocean and sitting in wet sand. I asked my wife (without prompting) what she thought of the scent, and she confirmed: sandy, wet skin and sunscreen. I can't compare the fragrance to anything else I own, so maybe more experienced folks will know of something. All I can say is that this scent is not some romanticized idea of ocean and sand; it IS ocean and sand.
