Silver Black

Azzaro Silver Black is pure excellent juice. A truly under rated gem. I get apple, citrus and lavender in the opening which lasts a fair bit. The mid notes are a spicy cardamom, trailing into a nice, balanced dry down- I get the patchouli, vetiver, leather n amber along with a rose note which is not listed here but Geraniol is listed in the ingredients on the carton. It projects really strongly for the first couple of hours before settling down a bit. Lasts a good 6 hours plus before slowly fading away although I can smell it on my shirt at the end of the day. I have no idea why fragrantica has 2 sets of notes for Silver Black and Onyx when they are the same fragrance. I have used both and they are identical. I checked with the local Azzaro Distributor and He confirmed what other people have mentioned here- Onyx is the name of the North American version where as it is marketed as Silver Black for the rest of the world. Wonderful confusion. Which genius at Azzaro came up with that stupid idea merits a whole other discussion. Thankfully, Silver Black or Onyx, Francoise Caron did a wonderful job here, taking the spirit of the original Azzaro PH and transplanting it for modern times. A very versatile, comfortable perfume, does not change much from top to dry down, and is suitable for just about any occasion. This is one of my default frags for the days when I cannot make up my mind or I am in a hurry. Truly wonderful Juice. Love it. 8/10

Although I saw numbers of reviewers and comments saying this is the same as “Onyx” which I do have only in small travel spray from years & years ago using it sparingly because I do really love the scent. So I wasn’t 100% convinced till I tried this Silver Black because the ingredients are little different when you compare their both scent profiles side by side. But now that I blind bought it hoping that it will be the same scent, and guess what? IT IS!! 🤩🕺🏻🎶 I do love this modern version of Azzaro with some pronounced juiciness on top with some fruits with some old school DNA in the background. I always love sweet fruity fragrances and this one is NOT those common sweet fragrances by any means but it still has that apple infused fruity nuance instead of cut dry rugged 70’s & 80’s grandpa fragrances. Although as long as those 70’s, 80’s fragrances are done right, I do like and enjoy them like “BelAmi” from Hermes or Chanel “Antaeus”. This one has a very well balanced notes from top to bottom and it doesn’t scream like an old man although I am 53, 😅 I like a bit youthful ones such as this one has that DNA compared to the original Azzaro which I don’t care for. With that said, this fragrance is best suited for a bit more grown up adults in their 30’s and up. This was only CAD$28.95 on FragranceBuy.ca and it was a win for me for sure! 👍🏽👍🏽✨🤩🥳🕺🏻🎶

When I first smelled this on 2013, I thought Boring... drakkar noir 'fresh'. I liked it but nothing I would consider adding to my collection. 2 years later and missing my dad after he passed away,I was thinking I would grab a bottle of drakkar in his memory. But after trying the new formulation (I think),and silver black, I was reminded more of him after smelling this. I love the opening, which I would describe as a richer ck escape and I love the dry down which I would describe still as drakkar noir 'fresh'. Needless to say I'm loving it overall and will finish it quickly.

Excellent. This is my most used fragrance, because it smells great and is SO versatile. From office to casual, this fragrance covers all bases. Sweet, spicy, cool and refreshing...It's 30% classic, with a 70% modern coolness. When I can't decide on a fragrance to use, my eye catches AZZARO SILVER BLACK on the shelf and the choice is simple. I first smelt this perfume in 2005 or 2006 when it was released, and it completely transfixed me. I almost bought it, but then I caught a whiff of Bvlgari BLV Notte and bought that instead. Almost 20 years later, I found it on Amazon for a bargain price and, as soon as I got it in the mail and sprayed it on myself, I felt like a 20-year-old younger student again. That being said, my partner hates it, and I think that was also the reason why I didn’t end up buying it 20 years ago. Needless to say, I only use it when she’s out of town. :D

I have had this for a long time and for a good reason. It is a very solid, long lasting woody aromatic fragrance with great projection. This stuff lasts from morning until evening. One spray on the chest and two on the neck and you are set for a very long time! And it is really a panty-dropper. Very masculine and fresh, with the citrusy-green apple top notes, spicy heart notes and musky-woody base. So if you want a long lasting, masculine scent that the ladies love you can ́t go wrong with this stuff guys!

Testing from a later bottle with no chrome ring. This is a a classic woody anise fougere, beautifully nostalgic. Its basically Azzaro Pour Homme but instead of a mossy base it uses patchouli. Brut also come to mind, though Silver Black is not so overtly green. Silver Black doesn’t quite have the performance to be a legend like Azzaro Pour Homme, but it is still an ok performer and worth the asking price. For more performance at this price level, Carrera Black is excellent and even cheaper.

WOW! I bought this perfume last week as a blind purchase. (100ml for only €15) Love at the first spray! Love the opening of this fragrance. First you smell the apple, this quickly turns into a lovely lime/musk combo. Now that I have worn the perfume for several days in a row, the only thing I can say is WOW! Such lovely, deep and rich fragrance. One of my best price/quality fragrance i have :) All and all a must have in every man's collection!

Very nice masculine perfume with some DNA from the original once you spray..but without the mossy old type feeling....just fresher and updated. The whole juice is playing around lime, apple and juniper berries, very masculine indeed. Definitely for mature men, longevity and sillage is excellent. I consider it as the link between the old Azzaro perfumes with the new Era. it has a discreet soapyness perfumed with the fruits!

The perfume of melancholy. I like this fragrance, I find it a very good perfume creation. Unique, masculine, aromatic, quality juice. Suits a confident, manly, handsome man. However, I have a problem with it. It smells somehow depressed for me, not a happy fragrance at all but the opposite. I don't wanna feel down when I'm wearing it.

Imagine a razor blade transformed into a perfume. This is Silver Black. Features: *good longevity and projection, *nice price, *does't change very much from the begining to the end, *not powdery, *not sweet, *has a different ('sharp')freshness, *ideal for man older than 35y, *can be used at night or day. I'm using the second bottle.

It’s way more like the OG Azzaro pour homme. I love it. I just wish it was more long lasting while projecting more in warm season. But it’s one of the finest flankers one can have among all the pour homme flankers of Azzaro.

Oh wow, this is utterly gorgeous, I love it. The opening is totally as listed, wonderful Lime and Apple mix, so refreshing. The drydown I see as a mix of woods/patchouli and musk. Very smooth, well blended. I love....

A wonderfully crisp and elegant scent. The spice and woody notes are wonderfully compatible and compliment the rest of the notes. Crisp, spicy and woody. Adrianocgo is right, a chick magnet!

This is one the perfumes that I'll buy again. I love it. I've Azzaro Pour Homme too and I find the Silver Black way better than Pour Homme in all respect.

Smells like the 70's, but in a cool way.

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde You might wonder to what extent Azzaro Silver Black and Azzaro Onyx are a single perfume. Until the end of the research, the two fragrances do not seem similar at all. Also, on many sites, Silver Black and Onyx have notes that are completely distinct from each other, as if they were two separate perfumes. The truth is that Silver Black and Onyx are the same perfumes. Onyx is the name given only for the US market, while Silver Black is more commonly called for the world market. In the end, I opted to purchase the Silver Black, which I will describe here. January is coming to an end, a foggy winter day, a bit of coolness in the air, but the clouds and fog hide the sun which appears pale, and I have decided that I have neglected this bottle for too long. Silver Black is a woody aromatic and musky fragrance, a spin-off of the original Azzaro Pour Homme with its iconic signature “fougère aromatic woody”, with which it shares some similarities, but not too many. This flanker is mainly aromatic and has a more minty opening, less dusty thanks to the greenish crisp lime and apple. But the first thing I immediately understand is a sort of soft mint accord mixed with a balm. It has a dry and aromatic aroma, which is very similar to that of whole lavender, of which both the flowers and the leaves have been used. The spiciness is fresh, balsamic, relaxing, and invigorating. In the background, I smell a light anise accord, which is not overpowering but lasts a lifetime. The bergamot, which is almost always present in all men’s colognes, is subdued, so tamed that I won’t classify the opening as citrusy, even if there is the bitter lime keeping it company. The more Silver Black sits on the skin, the more intense its balsamic side becomes. While sweaty cumin is nothing more than a mouthful, the dominance of fresh, earthy spices like green cardamom, resinous juniper, and pungent coriander is plain in your face. Exactly in that order, as far as my nose can tell. There’s a sort of greenness to it and what I get is more refreshing and slightly woody than the original. Intriguing to know, on the skin I smell tons of cypress, while on the paper strip medicinal lavender predominates. I don’t know why, but sometimes I smell dried flowers. Finally, the perfume reaches its last phase, which reveals the creamy notes of sandalwood, and the more herbaceous and earthy notes of patchouli and vetiver. But more dominant is the musky and slightly animalistic accord of the musk, very mossy and rarely soapy or too laundry. It is more similar to the green moss of the undergrowth, humid, mouldy, and earthy, with a little saltiness that reminds me of ambergris. In conclusion, I find Silver Black to be a fresh, aromatic and balsamic fragrance, which has almost nothing in common with the original. When I wear it I don’t find a particular moment in its evolution that makes me think of Azzaro pour Homme. But this is an advantage for me, I don’t consider it a disappointment, it’s just my observation. Semi-versatile, I find it suitable for the colder months. Late autumn, winter and early spring are the best times to wear it, both day and evening. Both projection and longevity are moderate or just below average, certainly lower than those of the progenitor. It’s a type that many people might like, with a simple barber accent, perhaps closer to the atmosphere you get when walking into a herbalist’s shop, and suitable for a blind purchase if that’s your thing. I’m basing my thoughts on a bottle I’ve owned since xxx (BC 0521390, PD 2015-05-18).

Azzaro Silver Black feels like walking in Whitechapel at night and disembark in the unnerving murder foggy sites of Jack the Ripper. Some people like it and some other hate it. TOP NOTES - The opening reveals aged anise, sour apple, and citrus. You are surprised by the strength of the initial notes. It opens in a very strong way with a huge projection. As a matter of fact I think the opening sillage should be more shy. It does not open in a fresh way - as you could expect from the strong citrus (lime and bergamot) and the apple. Somehow the initial anise note reveals the darkness that is about to arrive. I kind of like it ( I like dark scents) but... somehow the opening is just to harsh. HEART NOTES - After 10 minutes you start to sniff a timid juniper note that grows and grows and becomes totally dominant after half an hour. You smell the coniferous note mixed with the scent you get from some brands of Gin but without the associated booziness. All you get is a green, dirty, slightly bitter, and piney notes. Coriander and Cardamom do not play a big role in this Juniper dominance. BASE NOTES - When the Juniper decides to fade - very slowly. As we start to experience the base notes, the initial sillage it's a lot fainter and we are welcomed with a nice woody and earthy Patchouli + Musk, seconded by sandalwood + oak moss. The green dirty darkness remains present but in a softer way. That's the best part of this EDT - a very agreeable green and dark long bottom notes if you like green and dark scents. Beware of Jack the Ripper. SUMMARY - It is a totally masculine fragrance. Its uniqueness defines that the time to wear it is very restraint. Use it in autumn, spring and summer nights. Put on some Silver Black Azzaro when you wander at night but definitively not when you go clubbing. My rates Scent:7.0 Longevity:7.5 Sillage:7.5 Uniqueness:9.0 Wearability:4.0 Quality:7.5 Price: 9.0 Overall rating: 7.36/10.00 I like this fragrance (but not love it). I will not buy it again. And due to its low wearability my flask is going to last a long time.

A foggy night, yep Azzaro Silver Black feels like a cool foggy evening. The opening is anise, apple (sour apple, and it stays the duration of the scent) and citrus with just a touch of juniper. Yes, its different. This scent starts by giving you something different and it holds back not revealing too much. When ASB hits the mid notes we are greeted with spices coriander and cardamom and even more of this shadowy minimalism and restraint. The juniper pulses in and out of the scent giving it a freshness and almost minty tinge at times. The ensemble of notes gives off a clean vibe almost like a shaving foam, but not quite. ASB feels stripped down but at the same time it is poised and slightly sneaky. Yes. Sneaky. As we approach the base notes we are greeted with a nice woody, earthy base of sandalwood, patchouli, oak moss and musk. I really couldn't understand this fragrance when i first smelled it and after a few wearings and a bit of the right meteorological conditions this fragrance sings! Its a woody, earthy, green scent that is intriguing, and classy. ASB is well masculine and has its' place in a scent wardrobe The time to wear this is crucial; take heed ASB is perfect for spring and summer nights, yes NIGHTS! Put on some Silver and Black when you want to walk the pier on a spring night, but you're land locked and far from the coast.

A better and more modern version of the original Azzaro Pour Homme. I personally thought the original Azzaro PH was outdated and sort of smelled like a grandpa, so I just gave that away a couple days ago to a old friend of mine. This smells so much better than the original while still having the original DNA. Starts off citrusy, fresh, woody, and a bit fruity. Dry down is mostly the same to my nose. My family thought that this was a great fragrance and one of them call this " Elegant " and I think I have to agree. It does smell very elegant. For a freshie I got a good amount of longevity. I got around 6-7 hours on my skin with a soft-medium projection leaning masculine. In my eyes, I think this can work in all seasons since it's fresh for the summer but bold enough for the colder seasons. This can technically also be worn in the day and night. Lastly, is it a safe blind buy? Yes. If you love modern fragrances with an old school twist to them, then I am positive you will love this. In conclusion: Smell: 9/10 Longevity: 7/10 Projection: 6/10 Azzaro Pour Homme Silver Black: 8.5/10

I’ve had this bottle since 2013 sitting in my collection collecting dust for years. I sprayed it a few times upon getting it and didn’t really like it, so it got put in the back and collected dust for years. Fast forward to 2020 and I pulled it out put a few sprays on before bed, and man, I’m confused as to why I disliked this stuff. I feel like this bottle is telling you how a man should smell. It reminds me of vintage 80’s Cologne’s, even though it was released in 2005. It’s got a barbershop feel, and maybe that’s why I like it a lot more now is because I’m in my 40’s. It’s got some spice, wood, musk, citrus, and mild sweetness from the Apple. In some ways it has a Drakkar noir mixed with preferred stock type of vibe going on. Considering I got this for 20 bucks, I’ll be sure to start putting this in my rotation as it hasn’t gotten any love, it’s not groundbreaking, but there’s way worse things I could be spending 20 bucks on these days. The longevity and silage is insane with this stuff too, just 3 or 4 sprays with this stuff and I’m good for the day. Solid 8/10 for me.

Very nice, very seductive and very sexy for a real man! The opening is a bit dusty, after a while it turn to a very additive spicy scent, so nice until you get addicted to smell it over and over again. Dry down is mild woody scent. Thumbs up! Longevity and silliage is superb, 7 hours on me! Tip top high quality contents that cab really last whole day long. It give me superb confident and feel great wearing this! Suitable for office formal wear or romantic dating with your loves one, I found that women love this scent very much on men! I got compliments from women every time I wear this. Notes: This is not a scent for teen or youngster. Silver Black is a mature scent, but in a very modern yet seductive, think of a softer and more pleasant version of Drakkar Noir, with a blend of freshness, for man who is smart and confident. I will give 8.5/10 for this. Updates: Silver Black and Onyx is the exact same juice, I've tested both and it make no difference for me, Onyx is the name given for the US market only, while Silver Black is more common named for worldwide market.

Another great fragrance that fits nicely into the Azzaro PH series. I always find Azzaro PH Silver Black as a slightly younger, easier version of the original. It is not a teenage scent by any means, but definetely not that hardcore suit&tie scent either. It opens up like a richer and less sporty version of RL Polo Sport. Imagine RL Polo Sport opening dominated by apple/lime. There's also anise (which makes Azzaro PH DNA) and i somehow get something like cinnamon too. To me apple stays very long and not just in the opening. It only turns less fresh when juniper and coriander comes into play. In the drydown I can't pick patchouli clearly, but apple is always there with anise. Drydown is my favorite part. It just lasts. This perfume (for its price) is an amazing bargain. The performance is way above expectations, it just sticks to your skin and actually radiates for a long time, without overpowering. I sprayed at 8AM in the morning and was still able to smell it without any effort by 7PM. Perfect for office use too.

I misjudged this one in the greatest of ways. It’s been sitting in my collection collecting dust for years. I always thought this was an old man cologne, but I was wrong. I would say for those 30 and up, it’s mature in the drydown, but youthful in the opening, if that makes any sense. I decided to use it up to get rid of it. I don’t know if it’s because the bottle has breathed over the years, or my recollection isn’t what it was. Anyway, the opening in this one is exceptional. It is aromatic and I get the citrus and the smokiness. Where this begins to be a dislike for me is in the drydown. It’s not bad, just not for me. It’s woody and I really get the coriander. None the less, it’s still a great scent, and a lot better than I originally thought. I’m not unhappy owning it, but I wouldn’t re-purchase it. Solid 7/10 for me.

Azzaro Silver Black is a clean fruity freshy with greenery and a hint of spice. It has a similar feel to Mont Blanc Legend Spirit and the like. Nothing ground breaking but nothing bad either, pretty unisex. A simple clean style fragrance that works well and won't cost much. These types of fragrances dominate the market at the moment and are so common it's almost an "If you've smelled one you've smelled them all" scenario, however Silver Black is worth picking up even if it is commonplace. Decent projection, sillage, and performance for what it is. May even get you noticed and if so it'll be in a positive way as it's a very common fresh style fragrance. Nothing of offense here.

I am at a loss to explain why this has a different note pyramid than the fragrance Onyx by the same country, because it's generally agreed they're the same fragrance marketed under different names to different international markets (Onyx to the USA, and Silver Black everywhere else). This certainly smells the same as Onyx did to me, which was fruity, green, aromatic, and juicy, with a very complex array of notes characteristic in men's fragrances of a time a quarter-century even before the era in which it was created. To younger people this may smell old-fashioned, but to me it's a real classic.

I bought couple of bottles and was my go to night out fragrance before I got into the fragrance game. The scent opening is sharp, synthetic strong and dark. It’s definitely not for young or casual people. You need a suit a flashy one to rock this. The initial projection is heavy but soon become a scent to smell in your cloth for long long time. I loved the scent earlier but now I find it a bit synthetic however the price on this is very cheap. So a night out fragrance for beginners who’s looking for something dark.

Special frag for me. Was my go to during my early college days. Finally got a bottle again. This was definetly reformulated...The one i had was a lot more citrusy and fresh on the opening and more "in your face". The current iteration is way more subdued. After 20 minutes or so however, it smells exactly like it was back in the day. Not a beast performer like i remember it to be too. Happy to have it again, just wish it was as powerful as it used to be.

A very worthy take on a citrusy fougière. it is very aromatic and somewhat fresh with a woody underlining. I get some cedar wood along with the freshness from the different citrus fruits. The Juniper and ambery musk helps the ingredient to mingle better. It is definitely a scent for the more mature audience. With this said I do find it to be quite uplifting when worn in warm and moist weather. Overall Rating 5/10 / /

Affordable, modern, inoffensive... Is it bland? No way! Silver Black is very special with its fruity vibe and hearty woody base. Not harsh but spicy enough. Non-aggressive but not too sweet. Fresh without being aquatic or synthetic. Decent projection and good longevity, like nearly every other Azzaro frag. A friendly tip: don't be afraid of the opening. Let it settle down a bit - and enjoy!

Silver Black has some resemblance to classic Azzaro PH. It has fruitier opening and is less powdery - thanks to lime and apple it has that "fizzy" vibe. Longevity and sillage are really amazing. Generally for me it's younger version of APH - that doesn't mean it's purposed for younger crowd - it's rather lighter and more wearable than it's great predecessor

Hi , after reading all reviews , finally i decided To order yesterday , I toke my silver black I can only say that the one I was looking for in past 2 years , sharpens is amazing , if your waiting to order Do it now , you would newer get any fragrance better than this This line of luxury fragrance, I enjoy every single minuet of it I would give 9.99 of 10

This cologne is so so masculine and dark, it has a little bit similarity with Davidoff Zino cologne. This cologne smell like the the 70's or the 80's colognes but more modern, i think it work well for men from 30's and more, work well in winter and fall nights. For me if i have to choose between this cologne and Zino Davidoff i'l choose Zino Davidoff.

Profumo con note ben definite, personalmente LIME-MELA VERDE-VETIVER-MUSCHIO accompagnano questa fragranza per tutta la sua longevità. Credo che per un uomo questo profumo sia un ottimo compagno per le mattinate in PRIMAVERA ed AUTUNNO. I got this for like 17 dollars to top up and order for free shipping, always hits me with a blast of lime upon first spray but it mellows out within 20-30 minutes into an old school gentleman's scent. Smells like something one of my uncle's wore back in the day even before this was officially released. Definitely not a young man's fragrance

This is a rare scent for the price, smells very real, not artificial l can smell the essential oils in this. The citrus on the top end is very citrus and as it dries down it becomes seductive, but you better like/love vetiver because it is dominant in the dry down

On the box it says, In the US and Canada, this is called Onyx. Outside the US and Canada this is called Silver-Black. It is the same fragrance: Onyx and Silver-Black. Fruity lime patchouli, then floral-leather accords. Unique. Very nice.

Very versatile I'd say. Smells kind of fruity and musky with creap undertones. THis is also a creap fragrance. You can purchase it for like 40 dollars... I use it whenever I want to feel fresh and clean. i'd give it 7 out of 10!

Casual wear for matures who wants some fresh scent. Not bad but i think not a good choice for the younger crowd. It smells like lots of deos from the past like adidas or denim.Too mature.

Perfect name ! Silver : Fresh, metallic, lemony Black : Deep, woody, dark. A balance between dark and light, black and white. That's a sheer blackness
