I adore medicinal tuberose, but this perfume takes it even further. To me, it smells like both a painter’s studio and an impeccably sterile hospital room; oddly fascinating contrasts wrapped into one. There’s a creamy nuance that softens the clinical sharpness, and that duality really captivates me. It’s remarkably unique; where most tuberose fragrances lean on ginger and sweet citrus, this one opts for sterner companions: turmeric, grapefruit, and orange blossom. It feels austere and cold, yet strangely unsettling; and that discomfort adds to its allure. The suede note also becomes more pronounced in the drydown, adding a soft, tactile warmth to balance the perfume’s clinical sharpness. My sample is almost gone; I’ve tested the entire set, and this remains my favourite. Whether it becomes FBW or not, only time will tell. Note(1): This has absolutely nothing to do with the previous version, think of it as a completely different scent. Note(2): The austere and unsettling atmosphere of this scent took my breath away, my sample ran out, and I concluded it is FBW. A stone-cold, deadly, stunning scent. What can you do? All of these Balmain fragrances are just so good. I'm getting the lovely flower notes that are done just so beautifully like others in the line. Also getting some juicy citrus, and green qualities. The suade comes in the form of a softer leather. This is just so uplifting, I love it!

This is a spicy tubereuse and I absolutely love it. I bought the discovery set and was so taken by Rouge that I neglected to really smell Ivoire. This is next on my list to get.

Very warm and tuberose heavy, there’s a lot of turmeric and in the start that hits you in the face if you’re close enough to it or you just get the airy tuberose and suede, it feels very warm and sunny is the best I can describe it but in a weird and kinda unique way it smells dark “orange” to me if that makes sense, not really for me but didn’t think I would like a tuberose on leather but the turmeric definitely adds a strangeness to it.

This smells like tuberose and leather. I find it pretty comparable in vibe to Jo Malone's Peony & Blush Suede -- a floral and leather smell

Could not tell for the life of me what the notes would be except tuberose, it has that tumeric zing. But wow it’s pretty grungy for me idk

To me it smells like old ivoire de balmain which I had and loved just more expensive

It smells like a slightly more feminine leaning version of Amouage Reflection. Very heavy in tuberose, powder and white florals.

The listed notes, both for the original Ivoire de Balmain, and for this new perfume also named Ivoire, are indeed mostly correct. Therefore, quite obviously, the two scents are NOTHING alike. The people who are voting these two as being similar must have never smelled both of them. Are they voting that way just because the names are similar?? The original Ivoire de Balmain is an opulent chypre overfowing with notes of flowers, greenery, woods, honeyed oakmoss, and many more olfactory delights. I'll say no more about it here. This modern Ivoire, also released by Balmain, is primarily a Tuberose soliflore dialed up to an intensity where it resembles corn masa more than the flower. Yes, there are also some deeper notes of leathery suede and earthy turmeric, ...as well as vetiver and other more synthetic woods, which give off that aromatic dill-pickle nuance in the opening. Those usually enigmatic 'Solar Notes' may be contributing to that as well. So the Corn Chip Effect AND the Dill Pickle Effect together in one Perfume! Who knows? Maybe that's somebody's idea of great two-for-one savings. It's not that I always hate this kind of tuberose, ...except, by now, I'm beginning to. It seems too common nowadays (Lys 41, Do Son, Aldebaran, etc.). There really are more subtly elegant and pleasurable ways to treat tuberose. Hopefully those will come back into fashion. This Ivoire's deeper drydown becomes oddly better than it was earlier, though not amazingly so. The tuberose calms down, a bit, and more earthy, leathery, even solar-y, elements begin to hold their own. Plus, there is also a pleasantly airy grapefruit aspect looming up. However, since it is at the base, it must be a phantom grapefruit note. Perhaps one created by a sharper aspect of vetiver (so still nootkatone?).

Tuberosey Mc Tuberose white floral composition of absolutely no interest beyond smelling exactly like all of the Soleil Blancs mixed together. Nice if you like that sort of thing and prefer this bottle. Bears no relation at all to the much missed Ivoire by Balmain from the late 70s, a type of creamy soapy perfume that doesn't really get made anymore, and will apparently not be getting made anytime soon. If you're coming to this hoping to replace your old Ivoire, it would kind of be like substituting a hounds tooth tailleur for a polyester beach robe...

A burst of beautiful fresh wet tuberose, followed by a brand new pair of expensive suede shoes, followed by a smooth, creamy combo of both. Very clever Mr. Ropion!
